  • His announcement had been proud, unwavering and most of all.... loud. A reaffirmation of his motivations and goals under the new laws of his leadership. In no small ways, his fresh eyes made him a threat to a secret kept nestled in the bedding of her apprentice's den... her lack of experience with him left her in the shadows on his judgements. How he might react. What kind of war he might wage or how. Risk remained secluded from view... it made her antsy... it made her lead warriors itch with the silence she had stitched into their lips by force. Would they deem it a mercy, to be free of that....? Or would it hold a host of its own problems?

"Ere you depart," the lynx point meows, tilting her chin high as if to give off the illusion of confidence where a shivering anxiousness truly hid, "I was hoping... we might speak... privately. It isn't often... I have reach... of ShadowClan." That had been made evident when Chilledstar had last wandered towards RiverClan moons ago looking for a different wayward apprentice. That they would have to ask ThunderClan's permission to meet with their distant neighbors.

Smogmaw had once posed a very harsh, bladed question at the tender flesh of her throat. Would she be ready.... in the event that Smokestar was not there to serve as a tempering agent any longer? It had left an uncomfortable gnawing at her belly in a time where her position still felt raw; scrutinized by even her clan-mates who saw better options, saw less reckless choices. If she'd known then what future would untangle before her, would Lichentail have still accepted? Would she have answered him with the 'no' that had revealed itself to be the truth in star-dusted tears amongst StarClan's fields?

"I won't keep you... long..." It isn't so much for her to determine, not really... not when it is the stony tom's reaction that will determine just how arduous and lengthy this conversation must be. If he is half so proud as she has become, it will be his voice that answers, not the voice of his rowdy council. "I would've liked... to have shared this... with Chilledstar eventually but... that opportunity has passed." I can only hope your temper is far more balanced than theirs had been at their final Gathering...

He'd never struck them as the type to lunge at the chance for violence, but his passion and flair for the dramatic had been evident the many times he'd stood in for his injured or sickly leader. He had an undying affection for his clan and Lichenstar knew she'd bend the earth itself to see a brighter future for hers. Iciclefang's bristling serves as a reminder that there are those who don't agree with her logic, that this shouldn't be made into a huge deal by either side.... her inability to empathize with that frustration hinders her and keeps prediction buried out of grasp.
