( ♬ ) Things had been...difficult to say the very least. So many things had happened in such a short amount of time, that the already ailing molly had only fallen deeper into despair after her stepping down announcement. She had not meant to hurt her friend, but when the word abandon almost slipped from her leader's lips during his speech, Deersong realized that her decision had placed her in a position that she could not repair.
So, the once cheerful and social cream tabby had become a recluse mute. No longer feeling welcome in the clan she had come to call her home and only truly interacting with her mate and kits, though even that was becoming more and more strained as she struggled with her place in the clan.
Deersong watched as her kittens grew, and it still filled her with pride to see them so strong and nearing the age to become apprentices. She only hoped that the rest of the clan would not hate them for their mothers' decision. Deer had even wondered if her own kits and mate disliked her now for stepping down from her rank. But she was too much of a coward to ask them, so she simply became a quiet ghost of herself, taking up residency within the nursery and fearfully counting the days until her kits moved to the apprentice den and she would have to return to her warrior duties if Skyclan would even have her any longer.
For the first time since her step-down, the cream and chocolate molly would leave her nest where she had been curled loving around her kits and ventured outside into the frigid Leaf-Bare air. The air still stank with small hints of Windclan, and her stomach rolled as she shook her head; trying to forget the many battles that had erupted these last few days. She had felt so cowardly, having remained within the nursery with the kits and other queens while her clan and Riverclan raged against Windclan in defense of their home and their catmint supply. Deersong would let out a quiet sigh, the first true noise she had made in days, as she moved to walk silently towards the night sky.
Perhaps just a silent walk would help clear her head.
