What good is lying about being the father of Maggotfur's kits if is hardly seems believable? Appearances must be kept up, this is what Wormwatcher tells himself as he approaches the medicine den on wary paws. The blue tom knows he is not the most popular clanmate among the kits, not since his unfortunate outburst directed towards Buzzardkit. It also appears Maggotfur's children were born with a general dislike of their "sire," which Wormwatcher has taken to be a punishment for lying.
"Son," Wormwatcher chirps around a long metallic strip, resembling a fluffy tail. He places it at the six toed paws of Rainbowkit and then straightens. Wormwatcher considers brushing his cheek against the kit's in the moment that his head was lowered; but as soon as the thought arrives in his mind he abruptly straightens. They're not his, they're Maggotfur's... he must remind himself of this constantly. This is just a charade, no need to push it. "I found it at carrionplace several moons ago. It could be fun to play with...?"
One of his delicate paws passes over the strangely textured thing and hooks it upwards with a claw. "Or you can give it to your mother... she uh, she'd like it." He sets the tinsel back down and steps back a couple inches as he clears his throat self consciously. Nervousness was not an emotion the cat expects to feel as he interacts with the kit, but suddenly he worries the gift was stupid, his suggestions stupider and the situation he has got himself into extremely stupid.
