There are not a lot of cats Warblerkit is comfortable around - at least, not anymore. He'd been more chipper and cheery once, but that was a long time ago - and even Warblerkit barely remembers who he'd once been. Instead, he takes comfort in quiet companionship, in personalities far brighter then his own. The greenleaf sun is pleasant against his mottled coat as he slips from the nursery, carefully keeping a good distance between himself and the water - eyes glancing anxiously towards the river, and he can only swallow woodenly at the thought.

One deep breath, and then another, and he finally makes his way to Valepaw, paw carefully prodding his friend, hoping that his silent question will get across even without Bitternkit there to translate. They haven't yet spoken today - not that Warblerkit himself ever does much talking to be fair - but he's always liked listening to the others day, hearing about what he's done or learned. There aren't very many drypaw's in riverclan after all, the love of water seemingly ingrained into his clanmates. He doesn't think he'll ever understand it.

At least the calm rippling of the waves can be a source of comfort, even if the suffocating sensation of dampness underneath his fur can't be. Meadow-green eyes follow the lazy path a few wayward bubbles trace, idle and unbothered.... Hazecloud was sure to seek him out and rant about how he ought to be on patrol with Redpath but... he didn't really care. Or she'd send one of her nosy kids to do her dirty work... Eugh... Eveningpaw.

The gentle touch of a smaller figure at his side stirs the chimera from his thoughts, glancing down at Warblerkit with a small, familiar smile. "Hey there," he murmurs, watching the way the kit's gaze flashes nervously towards the river's edge then back towards the older tom. "Mmmm.... No I don't plan on doing any fishing today," he admits, "My shoulder's sore... Wouldn't want to risk falling in."

The feeling of the freeze of winter's rapids send a shiver down his spine as a fluffy tail swishes behind him. If the other apprentices knew what was good for them, they wouldn't butt in to say something foul-tongued. He had it on good authority that he could get Moonbeam to come yell at them if they did... and no one wanted to be on a medicine cat's bad side.

✦•··········•✦•··········•✦It's strange to live in RiverClan and be water-wary, but Loveburn wonders if that aversion is as natural to them as other clanmates' reverence of the river. He cannot remember ever fearing its winding shape; shying away from its effortless intensity is baffling to him, even as he tries to understand what might compel the drypaws of RiverClan. A fear of drowning is largely what he assumes keeps their fur sun-baked, and while that is certainly reasonable, it seems more dangerous never to brave it and hope that avoidance is enough than to simply...learn.

Because what if Valepaw does fall in without a warrior nearby? Should such an inevitable encounter spell a swift trip to StarClan?

Pelt glistening with river water and sunlight, Loveburn's tall ears twitch toward the nearby conversation. Well, of a sort— Warblerkit does not speak, but that does not hinder Valepaw. "What happened to your shoulder?" He asks with a little frown, concerned. "Nothing you can't shrug off, I hope, since you're here and not with Moonbeam."
