*+:。.。 It's the first night out of the nursery, and Bugpaw is handling it great!
She's so excited about tomorrow's training, that she can't keep her eyes closed! So she makes the shadows around her dance, although only in the corners of her eyes. They've got sharp claws and gnashing teeth - all the better to keep her safe, you see! Not that there's any danger here, even with all the new scents and sounds of people she doesn't know - yet! - sleeping soundly, probably not wanting to be disturbed, 'cus they're excited to train tomorrow, too! Bugpaw's surrounded by friends!
Ah...who is she kidding?
Carefully, the girl rolls to her paws. With the den so dark and everyone fast asleep, she doesn't need to worry about what her face might read as. So she lets the stiff smile she'd been maintaining drop as she sits up. Rubbing her arms, she looks around the dark, eyes lingering on the rise and fall of bellies she doesn't recognize. She's used to her den-mates being smaller than her, or the bigger ones being queens, but in the apprentice's den, it feels like everyone is bigger. She sniffles.
There's no denying she's excited to be an apprentice. She's happy that her mom seems just as eager to leave behind the nursery and return to her duties, especially with Falconheart keeping her company in the warrior's den, so there's really nothing to complain about. And yet it's also true...she misses sharing a nest with her mamma. This is all so new, it's hard not to feel overwhelmed. With a muted sigh, she gets to her feet and carefully heads for the apprentice's den entrance. She winces, almost tripping on new tails and nests - the den is so much bigger, yet so much more cramped than the nursery. She misses being familiar with every pawstep.
Breaking out into the cooler night air, Bugpaw lets herself breathe.
Only to end up hiccuping.
"Change is good, right pappa?" she mumbles into the night, pawing at the warm drops of rain dampening her cheeks and brightening her eyes in the gloom. "But Im gonna be sad about it for just a minute, okay? Don't worry too much, I'll be okay" she continues, smiling up at the cloudless night sky, twinkling with stars. She lets her tears fall freely now.
