Lividpaw had still not spoken even one word to him since their fight even after he had given them time and space...Basilpaw had been thinking about what he could do to make up with them...but everytime he did Swallowpaw's comment ringed in his ears. Maybe you should try to not be so annoying. What did that even meant?. In which way was he annoying?. Was it because he spoke too much?, because he always made himself known?. He knew that Lividpaw did not like attention so maybe that was the reason...or maybe it was something else. While he had carefully thought this over for days now Basilpaw had come to one conclusion at least. If he perhaps caught his first prey then maybe Lividpaw would be impressed and want to be his brother again?. If he actually took his training seriously again. But that also included one thing. If he did this that meant he had to come to terms with the fact he did not have the same sight in his right eye anymore, not since the incident. He could still see but not as clearly. Basilpaw had told nobody about this as he had kept this information to himself. Rather then admitting it he had instead fooled around, not taking his apprenticeship serious at all in fear to face his own consequence of his own actions. It would be better if nobody knew...right?. How was he gonna learn to become a good hunter now when he clearly had struggled before this. He was no Forestshade...
But he had made his decision. That day he had decided to actually hunt down one of this frogs. It should be easy for him...when there was so many of them. Not even him could fail...right?. Basilpaw did his best attempt that day as he tried to focus on the vision with his left eye to get it right and.....
After a while he returned back covered in mud and dirt, he looked like a mud monster as he returned back into camp with a frog proudly hanging down from his jaw. Basilpaw keept his head up high as the mud dropt down from his fur and once he almost even tripped! but like a pro he finds his own footing again!. It didn't take long for Basilpaw to find the very cat he wanted to get praised by more then anyone right now. Lividpaw. He was sure, convinced his brother would feel proud over him now that he had proven that he actually had what it took to become a warrior with his first caught prey!.
" It was about time for you to actually caught something." Lividpaw did not at all gave the respond Basilpaw had been hoping for as he had proudly dropt the frog down at his paws to reveal his happy news to them!. Instead Lividpaw had frowned as he had landed his blow on them. Basilpaw's ears sank down on his head, and for once he actually looked down, a rare expression to spot on the grey smoke's face. " With all the frogs around you only manged to catch one too." Basilpaw looked down in shame at his paws unable to say anything in return. It was true after all. Lividpaw stood up as he stept over the frog and while he passed him Lividpaw coldly spat only for his ears to hear. "You're pathetic." and with this words Lividpaw walked of leaving Basilpaw behind for the second time now.
Basilpaw just stood there like a fool, like he always did to stare down at the frog his brother had refused to accept. He had really wanted them to be the first one who took a bite from his first ever catch....he had hoped this frog would make everything between them right again. But he had wrong like always. Suddenly, as something unfamiliar washed over him Basilpaw's lips turned themselves up but not to reveal a grin for once but a toothy snarl. With an unexpected motion of his forepaw Basilpaw flung the frog away from him to send it right across camp, not caring if it even hit somebody. Without looking back or responding to whatever comment might come his way Basilpaw just turned away as he stormed of to retreat back into the apprentice den to disappear into the shadows leaving the frog behind and abandoned.
It was better if nobody followed him.
