A schedule was hard to follow, what once was a rigid routine had now turned into something akin to a mess- bouncing around from one kit to another, making sure they aren’t eating this or that off of the ground or terrorizing the warriors- though, that was more of a habit of her daughters, while her sons had taken the more reserved route, which she supposed she could find a silver lining in.
Chaotic and adventurous, motherhood had proven to be considerably different than Echolight could have ever imagined. She loved every moment of it.
Freshly fallen snow had blessed Windclan that day, and Echolight was itching for some leafbare fun.
"Sparkkit!" The queen called over to her son, who was looking rather down- at least to the queen. She pawed at the sticky snow, rolling it into an oddly shaped ball. "Come make snowballs with me!" She urged with a mischievous grin, tossing her freshly made snowball in her sons direction, lacking the power behind the toss to actually hit him, but where it would at least roll to his paws.

@sparkkit.

[ WHAT A TIME ]

Much like his mother, childhood has proved to be an adventure– unlike her, however, it is his very first. There were ups and downs, goods and bads. He found that he didn't really like somethings, or really really wanted others. He liked spending time with his siblings, and he liked watching the patrols come and go. He did not like waiting. Everything was waiting. Waiting for someone to play with him, waiting for patrols to come back, waiting to finally grow up. That was what had gotten to him today. Echolight saw sadness in kitten-blue eyes not because he was unhappy with the life he had, but because he just...wanted more. Maybe he always would. More more more, leaping for the next step. Bounding in the snow, and one day he'll see the moors like Juniper had said. Golden. He'll run and catch rabbits and fight battles and be the strongest warrior WindClan has ever seen. One day.

But not today.

Today he's just Sparkkit, and he's too little for any of it. He's watching with rounded eyes, as if one of the parting patrols would see his sadness and finally cave. Just to take him along for a little bit! They don't. Mom, however, does. It's not a promise of leaving camp and finally exploring, but as the snowball comes to rest at his paws, so delightfully round and somehow held together like he'd never thought snow could do, it might just be good enough. He bursts to energy, shoving his head down to the ball to try and shove it with his nose. Except– well, except it instead bursts 'cause he went at it with too much force, spreading cold white powder all over his face. Sputtering and shaking himself, trying to chase the chill from his fur, Spark races towards his mother. "How'd you do that? How'd you make it stay?"

[] From afar it was amusing to watch as the queen balled up snow and 'toss' it in the direction of Sparkkit. Kits were so carefree, nothing to worry about and all the time in the world to just enjoy the moment. They didn't have the stress of adult life yet and it made him miss when he was younger. Play fighting in the commons, chasing down the fattest of animals and daring each other to climb the mountain side. A sigh escaped a snow white and smokey maw in contentment of the memory.

Echolight called for Sparkkit to join her in making snowballs, and he couldn't help but feel a little tug at his paws. A snowball fight would be very fun and with so little cats in camp- maybe they'd have enough room to actually throw them without worry. A paw lifted before the figure stood up from their spot besides Sootstars' den and headed over to that of the queen and young kitten, "Mind if I join you?" He offered a polite smile, it was tight and awkward but it was his best attempt at trying to be friendly.

Oh, a snowball fight? That'd be fun! So long as there were no hidden rocks in the snowballs- what a mess that would be, a piercing shot right through the eye-socket or brain or something... but Echolight was a great mother, and he was sure she wouldn't let that happen! So, at the arrangement made- and thusly overheard by swivelled snowy ears- Mallowlark made his approach, smiling spectre looming over his family, eyes set moon-wide. Gaze settling unmoving upon Sparkkit- though flickering for a blink of a moment to Snowshadow as he approached- a small giggle flitted through his fangs.

"You gotta slap the snow together," he chimed discordantly, making his own snowball as some hurried demonstration. Blur of night-fur, it was not quite the best example he could have given- in face, it was a rather obscured and hurried example. But firm pats finished it off, making a snowball that looked markedly lesser than his sister's. Still structured, though! Stable-ish! That was what counted.
