WindClan may be a fierce and mighty group, but the hills still came with their dangers.

This morning a couple of cats had reported a fox sighting, it didn't take long at all for Sootstar to organize a patrol to go deal with it. Honeytwist, the nameless tom, and Dusk.

Dusk was the only tom the leader gave a rats tail about on that patrol… the only cat on it she mildly trusted. The other two? This was a chance to prove their worth.

The trio had set out to find the supposed fox, and boy did they find it! A young one who had just departed from the protective wing of its mother, an aggressive one.

The patrol with some struggle manages to chase it off, their fur was ruffled but that was about it… for Honeytwist and Dusk anyways. The nameless tom however got a minor bite to a paw, enough to cause a limp.

On their way back to camp so the newly named medicine cat could heal him they took a different route and stumbled upon a small pool. Only that… steam arose from its surface…? As if it was warm…?

A smart cat may get the idea to clean the injured feline's paw with it… warm water could do such a injury wonders.

(Ferret/Traveler is injured, but the pool before them could possibly help with his injury... and provide a nice place to dip paws and relax)

The cats in the patrol made her comfortable (or at least as much as one could be in an unfamiliar land) and so when Soot had called them forth to deal with a fox there had been no complaints from Honey. Well, not that she’d verbally complain anyways. She had a duty to uphold that was given to her by Marigold himself. She blames herself for his death and so she trusts him blindly.

The fight had not been too much work, Honey had moons of experience and had even clashed with Sootstar herself during the great battle; she was confident they’d win and they did but not without an injury. A tom had gotten a bite to the paw and as she had looked around for help she realized she was the help. The patrol decides to pack it up and go to camp.

Shes helping the nameless tom along, letting him prop himself on her shoulder and theres a pool with steam coming that catches her vision. Shes looking around- the rest of the patrol had noticed it too. When she had been younger, on the streets of Paris with her parents, their solution for aching wounds was to dip it in warm water. It would be perfect for his wound. "Hey, can you walk ma cherie? Lets go take a rest over there, put your paw in."

I WANT SOMETHING JUST LIKE THIS

When Sootstar had approached him and told him he was to be a part of a special patrol that day, Dusk hadn't entirely known what to think. He couldn't tell if the shecat had chosen him because she truly believed he was a good candidate for the job or if this was just another test to farther prove his worth and dedication to the group. Maybe it was both, maybe neither.

Irrelivant, he supposed, because no matter what the shecats intentions behind selecting him were, Dusk had agreed to go along. To be honest, he thought a part of him might have been looking forward to it, either eager for the chance to prove it to her or himself that he could actually handle whatever this life was.

His companions for the patrol were a pair he was familiar with in very different ways. Honeytwist was someone he had met more recently, a cat who'd been hauled in by sootstar after she'd gone to receive her blessing from Starclan. The new healer to the clan, the bengal knew her to be a kind and intelligent shecat who was supposedly 'chosen' to join them by the stars themselves. Whatever that meant. 'The Nameless Tom' as he chose to go by, was a cat he had met before joining Windclan. A gaunt, spotted feline whose every interaction would leave Dusk with nightmares the following evening, mind tormented by flashbacks of a filthy room and emaciated bodies. Stench. Madness. Rot.

And yet, just as persistently as the memories was this gnawing curiosity, a sick fascination. More than once on their trip Dusk had caught himself staring at the other, and so he'd resorted to simply walking alongside Honeytwist. And when they they'd finally met their quarry out on the hills, Dusk had gotten the very chance he'd been hoping for.

He'd learned quite quickly that Honeytwist was far more skilled than him when it came to technique, clearly a more experienced survivalist, but he'd done well. Strong and fast with a good instinct, he may not have been as well practiced, but he'd done his part well.

As they made their way back, Honeytwist supporting the tom, Dusk made sure to keep a vigilant watch on their surroundings, offering help when it was needed. He knew the scent of blood could draw another predator in, and that if it did they wouldn't be able to run without leaving the tom behind. And that wasn't something Dusk was really willing to do. So when honeytwist suggested stopping, her attention having been captured by a pool of shallow water, Dusk wasn't against it. At the very least they could wash the blood off and have that dealt with.

"I've never been to this part of the territory before." Dusk noted aloud. "Did you know this was here, Honeytwist?" he asked, glancing over to the shecat. It wasn't like they spent every moment of every day together, after all, so she could very well have come across it at some point.
