she couldn't help but enjoy sparring- and it had started serious. she had lost to the other, and was trying to turn around the points. she had grown distracted from wanting to win at least a round, as the sparring slowly turned to more casual wrestling. her laughter filled the air as they went back in forth, the cold no longer bothering her as the movements filled her body with warmth.

she hadnt had this much fun since she was a mere kit, fending off attacks from the outside world, or finding squirmy worms in the earth.

maplepaw had only been an apprentice but a couple of moons, but she prided herself in how quick she learned, and even now- picking up moved from her sparring buddy within the matter of seconds to turn around and use them on the raven coated molly.

a giggle escaped the fawn tortie as she sprung backwards out of bumblepaws way, resorting to cupping a pawful of icey white flakes and aiming to spray it across golden to throw her off. sage green eyes were lively as at the same she moved to dive towards the other in hopes to wrap white limbs around her and send them both tumbling backwards.

@Bumblepaw

Growing up in a rowdy nursery had prepared Bumblepaw for the thrill of a good tussle. From early spars with littermates and older siblings, to playful scuffles with friends, she relished the experience. She'd never admit to lacking in some skills like swimming and hunting. Still finesse was starting to work in her favor. Dipping, diving, and dodging, she slid and bumped their sparring partner off balance. Since a previously awkward spar with Nettlepaw, Bumblepaw had become far more vigilant in training. Watching cats practice, keeping her claws sheathed, and raising a wavy tail for added balance.

The advantage was short-lived, however, as the wispy feline lacked the stamina of a seasoned apprentice. Soon enough her movements slowed. Despite the fatigue, a handsome smile graced her elegant features. Excited 'mrrps' and 'urrps' escaped her as they rough housed. With Carawaypaw, their spars often devolved into giggles or someone pouting. While in Nettlepaw's case, it was intense concentration and picking up signals. This time, it was pure, unadulterated fun, and Bumblepaw was determined to keep up.

Suddenly, little splotches of ice chilled their long snout, causing her to sneeze. Temporarily blinded with surprise, all focus faltered. Maplepaw coiled around her limbs, bowling them both in a circle. Bumblepaw's back hit the earth dramatically. Audibly panting, laughter escaped pursed lips as she threw up all free limbs. The apprentice's golden eyes glimmered back with joy. Fed up with being pinned she hook her head and shouted. "You win! You win! Get off!" Despite the urgency in each yelp, humor laced every word, as a sigh was squished from them dramatically.

Then her body fell limp under the tortie's hold. "I'm dead... Ugh." Bumblepaw grunted, maw falling agape in a comical display, revealing small pearly whites and a lolling tongue—a clear play of possum.

as far as maplepaw could be aware, she had no siblings. she held no family with riverclan, lost to the wind when she was but a kit- deep within riverclan territory within the confines of some tangled roots. unwanted from the beginning, she took no jabs at her confidence, and instead built herself up on her own.

but that didn't mean she wasn't thankful for riverclan for saving her. it didn't mean she would enjoy their presence any less. she would make it day by day, and be quite content with the rowdy life here in her clan. she did wish others would be nicer that she was rogue born, she couldn't help that whoever was her parent had tried to give her food she didn't quite understand she should eat.

she had woken up next to a mouse, alone, and left it with that. and instead of moving, she had been wailing. it was a win win for them- uneaten food and a kitten, right? even if it was just a simple mouse. they got their prey back.

paws splayed up around her as she stood over the black apprentice, a display of a dramatic death beneath her and a wild grin upon maplepaws features. the fawn tortie would pull her paws off of bumblepaw and pull backwards, feeling triumphant in the win and finally revealing she too was exhausted from their friendly skirmish with a deep breath to fill her struggling lungs.

"ya sure ya don't want to eat more snow?" she asked, a paw lifting over her muzzle in a teasing giggle. she rolled over onto her back beside the other apprentice, unable to hold back the giggles that still escaped. "one for one, we gotta break the tie later!" she insisted, wiggling her body into a comfortable position in the mostly flattened snow beside her friend. of course, it was cold, but she was simply comfortable right here, letting her eyelids close, a quiet hum of a purr in her lungs.
