camp wander / lost kit

A young kit scrambled out of her nest in between a pine tree's roots. Where was her mother? She'd gone away a few days ago and hadn't returned. Well, I'm going to find her! The mottled tabby walked around the pine forest, her paws growing impatient. So far, the only thing she'd seen was a mouse, who was definitely not her mother. Well, unless she was half mouse, which she highly doubted. As she padded over pine needles and got even more sure she was going in circles, she squeezed out under a branch. Woah, she thought. So many cats! She tilted her head in wonder and squeaked. A few cats turned to look at her, and she shrank in fear.

Mountainheart was simply resting after a meal when the small kit found her way into camp. He was surprised, at first. Where did she come from? She wasn't one of theirs, was she?? No, surely someone would know if one of their kits was missing. He watched her for a moment before getting up and approaching her. She must be lost, that was the only explanation. Whoever cares for her must be worried sick, he knows he was whenever Rabbitnose decided to go off on an adventure in the middle of the night when he and his siblings were kits.

"Hello there." He greets gently, loafing to seem less big. He's still big, but at least he isnt big and on legs. " Don't be afraid, lass. No one here will hurt you. You've wandered into Skyclan's camp, where are your parents?" He asks.

The tabby shrugged. "I don't know," she mumbled. "I was looking for my mother. She left our nest a while ago and she hasn't come back." Suddenly a thought occurred to her. If this SkyClam camp had so many cats, then maybe one of them knew her mother! Or, better yet, she had gone to join them, and would be there, waiting for her and happy to see her. "Do you know her?" she asked hopefully.

There were many kits seeming to get lost, wander far into their lands and abandoned by their parents. It was an unfortunate problem, something that panged her own heart. She, too, had once been an abandoned kit, eyes still closed and body weak when she was found. But never, had she seen a kitten wander into their camp before.

She would utter words to another she was talking to, asking them to go retrieve @BLAZESTAR . He would want to see the kitten as well so that they could figure out what they were to do.

The large fluffy molly would be quick to approach, flowing white fur recently groomed down to her golden legs, and her fur on her chest fluffed out, surrounding her golden and black tabby face. Green eyes were soft and gentle to meet the light coloured kittens gaze, lowering her form before the other. "Darling, i do not believe i know your mother. My name is Flowercloud, we are a clan named SkyClan." She purred.

"Do you have a name?"

Molten copper blinked, staring at the small fry wandering into camp, wondering who in their damn mind would have missed a kid wandering into camp who obviously didn’t belong. What the fuck.

His expression morphed into that of indifference, padding up to the small thing, lengths away from Mountainheart, brows pinched. “How’d you get in here, kid?” He inquired, leaning down to peer at the small thing, helm turning to watch Flowercloud approach, molten copper linking sluggishly.

With a grunt, the large brute pulled back, waiting for a response. He wondered if this was another A+ parenting, dropping their kids off in the middle of the damn forest for predators to snatch, having seen a few since he’d been here, but never one that found the camp, no less.

“What’d she look like, kid?” He finally added, watching with a narrowed optic, tail swishing low to the ground as he talked, voice rumbling deep within his chest.

The she-kit hunched her shoulders a little and squeaked out, “I-I was looking for my mother.”
Flowercloud’s question made her think.

Do I have a name? Her mother had never really called her anything, from the memories the tabby had of her before she’d left. Could she choose her own name? The last thing she remembered of her mother was her bringing ivy to the nest. “Ivy,” she mewed.

Ivy called up memories of her mother, feeling even more lost than she had before. “White with green eyes,” she meowed slowly.

@flowercloud.
