The weather was changing. Heavy Snow could tell in the subtle ways of the world that leaf-bare was fast approaching and he can't help it, he gets excited. For most cats, leaf-bare was a dreaded time but for him and his thick white pelt, it was a time where he thrived. Hunting in the other seasons, the times when snow didn't mask him from his prey, could be rather difficult. He waits outside of rabbit warrens for long stretches of time, downwind so that they could not scent him. It took a lot of patience, and a lot of time, but he couldn't chase the quick hares down like the rest of his now-clanmates could. It needed to be this way, he needed to be patient.
He sits just above a warren now, waiting. His tail flicks back and forth behind him, eyes narrowed as he waits. Today, he cannot stop thinking of what was going on back at camp. He could not stop worrying. Emberfang, Pollenfur, Mallowlark, Echobright. He worries about them all while he is gone. They were his family, they were all he had if he lost any one of them he wasn't certain who he would be, or what he would do. Most of all, in these long stretches of silence and waiting he thinks about Brightshine.
He's so lost in his thoughts of them he almost misses it. A rabbit pokes its head out and he darts forward, claws outstretched but he is a moment too late. He lets out a cry of frustration. It wasn't getting away from him that easily! Frustrated and unwilling to wait for another opportunity he dives into the tunnel behind the rabbit, though his body does not all the way fit. The creature gets away from him, retreating further into the underground. He watches its retreating form with a snarl on his face.
Okay, time to get out. He would have to try again at a different tunnel. The white tom goes to back up only to find that he can't. The earth tightens around him and he realizes... he's stuck. Great, just his luck. He scrabbles at the dirt, trying to push his way out with his hind legs but its useless. He's truly and utterly stuck.
