[] It was a warmer day in the forest, if thirty degrees was warmer, and there had been some more rowdyness from twolegs. Who knows what they were doing, but Hailstone knew his own owners had some of their other clanmates over yesterday and they were celebrating something. There was just a lot more things going on than usual and it was uncertain how to feel about it. Twolegs were strange in their habits and never seemed to make sense, but this left a lot of objects scattered near the forest or in the bushes near twolegplace. Trash mainly of wrappers from their food sources but there was a couple of things that were rather interesting.

It wasn't like he was seeking it out, he had been on his own hunting expedition when the noise of twolegs distracted him. The blue tabby had been sitting behind a snowbank just watching the humans as they yelled, ran around, ate food that smelled delicious. Then one of the kit twolegs threw something close to the snow bank he hid behind; it was on wheels and looked like a mini monster. Though this had no noise, no roaring or horrible scent, and it was hard when he reached out a paw towards it. Confusion crossed green eyes for a moment before Hailstone crawled out from his hiding spot to grasp the item to brag it back with him.

It was bright yellow like the sun and red like crimson blood, black wheels that where semi squishy. It was as large as he was and light as feather when he batted at it, what was this strange monster look-a-like? The blue tabby looked back behind himself, should he bring it back? Maybe someone back at camp knew what this item was? Though Blazestar would be upset with the idea surely cause of the whole stigma against humans and their pets. Hailstone gave a huff at his dilemma and sat down in the snow, staring at the toy with a head slightly tilt.

The day has a crisp chill to it, one that eats into his bones. He shakes it off though as he makes his way through the territory. The snow makes things hard going and he pushes it away with a rough huff. At least the days seem to slowly be warming. Even if just a little and he hopes that it doesn't snow again. With a flick of his thick tail he keeps himself going when he slips along a bank of snow only to hear twolegs making a lot of noise. Droopy ears perk up as he listens to their always strange yowling and it seems like they are having a good time in this snow fall. The smell of their food is tempting and he thinks about it. Thinks about sneaking in to grab something for the Elders, or maybe even the apprentices. But that thought stops as he spots one of their kits throwing something.

It makes him jolt and he hunkers down in the snow for a moment before he slinks closer with a small grimace of pain on his face. His back doesn't like it but he still gets closer and then he spots Hailstone. "Mon ami? What do you have there?" Curious he makes his way closer to the other and he tilts his head just slightly as he looks at the small thing. Ah, one of theirs. "Ah, a jouet. One of their kit's toys. Sometimes they have a lot of them. But why did they discard it so?" Maybe because kt looks like one of those monsters, but too odd to be fun to play with.

Twolegs are such mysterious creatures. Howlpaw is equal parts intrigued and fearful of them. In SkyClan they seem to have more knowledge of the twolegs and their odd behaviours, though Howlpaw suspects this is mostly to do with the high number of former and current kittypets in the clan. When Howlpaw comes across Hailstone and Foxgecker, she is curious to see what they are talking about and to see what this mysterious 'toy' was. It wasn't hard to miss it being both an odd shape and bright yellow and orange in colour. Foxgecker claimed that twoleg kits played with it, but Howlpaw could not imagine playing with such an odd little thing. "What does it do exactly?" She asks, looking towards the older toms.

Some- some commotion clamoured nearby, he was sure of it. The uproar of voices- he could hear it even up in the trees, and from above he descended, curious as to just what was being examined by this.. this lot. Howlpaw, Foxgekker... Hailstone. Crowded around some rock- or some discarded bird carcass- or some kind of flower, maybe? Closing in, he could get a better look- and wide-set olivine befell it, mini-mimicry of a monster, simulacra staring him right in the face. As soon as he registered what it was he yelped, catapulting himself backward with a thicket of brambles running along his spine, bristle of his bicolour fur. What- what were they doing, the lot of them? Staring this replica of death in the face- were they mental?

"Oh- my god get AWAY from that thing you don't know what it can do!" he shrieked, frayed voice sounding as if it was attempting to escape directly out of his throat rather than a clean shout from his maw. It could- grow in size, spring to live- be poisoned, or some sort of trap, and they were just- just poking it! Well- maybe not poking it, but they were getting dangerously close, and if it- if it went haywire, exploded or shot right at him or something- well, they'd all be dead, wouldn't they? Dead from curiosity, ancient prophesied phrase!

CUZ I DONT REALLY LIKE ANYBODY

Ears pinned against the sudden shriek of alarm, the abrupt noise far from comfortable as it rattled about in his brain. Vaguely he wondered how he'd ended up becoming the shadow of one of the nosiest cats in camp, but a quick mental catalogue of the other apprentices was quick to send the thought running. No way in hell would he prefer to spend his days with obnoxious Fierypaw or overly-exciteable Fireflypaw. Butterflypaw would have been the closest to a suitable replacement he could find, maybe even Figpaw, but he already knew he wouldn't have the same kind of patience for them.

For whatever reason, Twitch was interesting to him.

The other apprentice did have a point, and for once Quill couldn't fault them for their paranoia. Monsters were dangerous and this thing was a mini version of one. Still, the others claimed it was just a toy, and Quill couldn't say it wasn't possible. He'd lived in twoleg place for a good while and had seen the twoleg kits playing with all sorts of things, even miniature animals that never moved or breathed or ate.

"It's probably fine. Just hide behind someone bigger if your worried it'll run you over." he said, figuring that something that small wouldn't be enough to get through two cats even if it did suddenly spring to life and try to run them down. Then, turning his attention to Hailstone, "They might come looking for it if it belongs to one of their kits. They can get pretty whiny when they lose their things." he warned, having seen it first hand.

[] A singular ear twitched slightly as cats approached also in wonder of this object; some not really caring, some finding it interesting and then Twitchpaw with his panic. The blue tabby tomcat then addressed Foxgecker first, "I have no idea what this is, but it was thrown aside and nearly knocked me over," He muttered a bit sourly at the thought. He should've been paying more attention to things than just sitting there watching the kits as they went on about their playtime.

Howlpaw did pose a good question though, what did it do? Hailstone gave a shrug at the apprentices' question before lifting a large paw to push at the twoleg toy and watched it roll lazily forward, "Defintiely not anything dangerous," He answered Howlpaw, and also tried to ease Twitchpaws' worrying over the item. It was harmless and the twoleg kits seemed to not care that it had been approached by a group of cats. Hopefully their numbers wouldn't cause a kit to come over here.

Then there was the tabby striped body of Quillpaw, and he gave the apprentice a look for a moment as he also had a good point. Like kittens, twoleg kits also threw fits about their things one way or another and the tabby tom seemed to be correct about it. A cry of the twoleg kit rang out, a loud squeal of 'kitties!' before loud thumping followed suit. The youngest of the twoleg kits made its unsteady way over on the snowy ground with its sticky hands outstretched.

Hailstones' green gaze widened and he was quick to bound forward past his clanmates, "Scatter!," he called out to them before being scooped up by the kit who squeal more with joy.

They are still looking over the unknown twoleg object when Twitchpaw's shriek pierces the air, urging them to get away from it as they did not know what it could do. "Don't worry, Twitchpaw, it's probably harmless," Howlpaw assures him, whilst attempting to smooth her fur down after getting startled by his cry. Hailstone seemed to think it was harmless as did Quillpaw. Given its size, Howlpaw was inclined to agree, unless of course, it were to spring to life and grow in size.

They are still discussing the object when the squeal of a twoleg kit rang out. Twolegs were something Howlpaw had yet to really experience herself beyond the tales she had heard from wary clanmates. Unfamiliar though it was, it still caused a ripple of fear to course through Howlpaw. She didn't need to hear Hailstone's urgent call to move to the safety of cover.
