WHITE LOTUS [ ˚❀༉‧₊ ] CHILLEDSTAR

How long has it been since her last apprenticed disappeared? The days has blurred together as one thing after another begged for her grief. She's tired of mourning, tired of feeling the constant pit of agony hollow a hole in her chest and she's certain her clanmates are tired of it too. How they must loathe having to pick her back up over and over again. But she is all they have in way of a medicine cat, and so for them she must endure. No matter how hard it got, she could never imagine leaving them to fend for themselves. ShadowClan was the only home she had ever known, and despite the difficulties, despite the tragedy after tragedy, she loved her clan, cared for all of them as if they were her own flesh and blood. Soon, she would not have to do it alone anymore. Her young niece wanted to train under her, had specifically requested it, and who was she to say no? In the medicine cat's den, Marblekit wasn't perfectly safe, per say, but she would definitely be more protected there than if she went out into the territory as a warrior, as a fighter. She would still recieve an education on such things, Starlingheart would make sure of it. Marblekit would grow up knowing both how to defend herself and to mend wounds, a path that not many could claim. But first, she must go to Chilledstar and inform them of this decision.

"Chilledstar?" she calls into the shaded den. Behind her, storm clouds gather and spell out an incoming green-leaf storm that would break at any second, turning her home into even more of a mud pit than it already was. Lightning and thunder would arc across the sky in tandem and Starlingheart would stand just outside of her den, letting the warm rain wash over her, clean her when she was too tired to do it herself. She picks up the herbs she had brought with her upon her leaders call to enter and makes her way into the cavernous space. "Hows your eye doing? It's not-not giving you any trouble is it?" she asks, worry clouding her gaze for a moment before she pushes a bundle of wet moss their direction "Here I brought you some- I uh- I brought you some water" she waits patiently for them to lap the drops from the bundle in front of them, tail curling around her paws. Once they are done she opens her mouth to speak again. "I'm uh- I didn't j-just come here for a checkup, I have some good news as well" she says, a slight smile pulling at one corner of her mouth "I've decided to take on another apprentice."

the leader gently twitches their ears at the sound of the medicine cat calling into their den. parts of them think that maybe she's here to tell them even more bad news. that's the deal, isn't it? any cat coming to their den only wishes to tell them bad news. they hum, as they push up onto their paws, chuckling quietly as she asks about their eye.

"fortunately, starls, there's nothing there to bother me."

they joke, perking their ears up and nodding in thanks at the water, leaning down to drink. they take a moment before looking back at her. she's smiling. it's small, and barely there but it is there. that means good news, right? it must. gosh, how long has it been since she's smiled? she should do that more often.

"oh? who is it, then? don't keep me in suspense, starlingheart."

they've seen a certain little cat hanging around her aunt a lot more but they never assume a thing.

Her whiskers twitch in amusement at her leaders half-hearted joke but she knows better than to believe it to be fact "You know what I meant" She says with a huff, but her voice is not unkind and the smile that remains on her features is a clear indication of the fact that she is not actually as exasperated at them as her words might suggest. She cannot help but to fret, to worry and think. After all, she was painfully aware of how many lives Chilledstar had left... If infection took hold, sunk it's claws into the wound, then who knew if she would be able to save them. Even if she used evry herb at her disposal. She shudders slightly as she remembers what had happened to her brother... Back before she knew more than she did now.

She has no doubt in her mind that cats have noticed her niece padding around in her shadow. She had done her best to encourage Marblekit to enjoy kithood while she still could, but she could not blame the young girl for being excited. She remembers a time she had nearly done much of the same, how she had pestered her aunt with countless questions and how she ahd prodded to help. Back then, though, she had been convinced her destiny lay in the path of a warrior. It wasn't until later she had realized that had been wrong. The scar on her hind leg itches at the memory but she ignores it and instead turns her attention back to the present. "Im sure this-mm- Im sure it comes as no surprise but my-my next apprentice will be Marblekit" She thinks of those eager green eyes and the smile returns to her face, softer this time "She-she specifically requested it you know. I think- if it's what she really wants... She'll make a good apprentice don't you think?" her words are accompanied by a soft humm. Already she had been planning lessons in her head, what she would teach first and what should be more advanced learning. A lot would have to be practical experience, Starlingheart knows. But there was so much... so much and soon it would begin.
