Bearcloud had always been quite proud of his hunting abilities. His usual quiet-pawed steps made it easy for him to sneak up upon a group without having to try, and he'd felt like a genius when he discovered that littering his pelt with flowers could mask his scent from unsuspecting mice and squirrels.
However, leafbare was making him question himself a bit. He'd been out hunting regularly as one of the lucky ones unscathed from the double strike of Riverclan and Shadowclan, knowing he should take some responsibility and provide more for those out for the count. Yet, while he was out to find just one stray starling, perhaps even a vole if he was lucky, the only thing he caught was the sniffles as the bitter cold stung his nose.
That didn't stop him, though, and he had reinforcements in the form of Amberdawn. They'd been out a good while already, paws crunching down upon the morning frost in an attempt to find prey when they were first waking. Bearcloud had yet to find anything, but he tried to stay positive. Two sets of paws working together were better than one, right?
"I hope we can get a good haul this time," Bearcloud mused as the two of them searched for a good spot to scout, "I feel like I've been chasing my little brother around trying to keep him out of trouble more than chasing mice recently…"
Bearcloud laughed to himself and shook his head at his little tangent.
"Anyway, how's your hunting luck been?" he asked Amberdawn, "hopefully better than mine."
