YOU’RE THE DEMON IN MY BED — ThunderClan patrol

Twilight is falling over the forest as the shadow-pelted warrior leads her patrol through the oaks, first to ShadowClan and then around to WindClan. Thankfully, their patrol had not encountered any ShadowClanners but even more thankfully they had seen no signs of the monsters that plagued the cats of the marshes. Boars were bad enough, she cannot imagine what kind of damage a bear could do, let alone three. She shudders as she thinks about it, but unwilling to allow her mind to drift to such a dark place she presses on, hoping that their WindClan patrol would be just as uneventful.

They were different kinds of monsters over there, steeling away into the night to attack cats as they lay sleeping. She was glad that her mother had denied them, though it worried her to think about what could have potentially happened that night should Sootstar had chosen to take her anger out on ThunderClan instead.

It feels good to be with her daughter, she is glad that Moonpaw had asked to tag along, though she wasn't sure where her brother had left off in her training and she didn't want to assume her daughter knew less than she did, so she spends most of the patrol in idle chit chat with her. When they reach the border she opens her mouth and says "Lets try and make this quick" with a flick of her tail, her nerves evident by the way her green eyes scan the moorlands for any cats. She knows the likelihood of them running into a passing patrol was high, but really she would rather not. She had no pleasantries to exchange with the cats of WindClan today.

@HONEYWISH @KINDLEHEART @Moonpaw

Little Wolf would be out of luck today, alas, for as she and her patrol reached the border, the broad, dark head of WindClan's deputy became visible through the high, waving grasses, as Badgermoon wound along the well-trodden path with a patrol of his own, @SNAKEPAW presumably just at his heels. The tomcat had been sending out more patrols lately than ever, and participating in more than ever before - he simply crashed into his nest at night, nowadays, and his legs ached from the endless loping around the moorland. But what else could he do? WindClanners were being picked off like prey creatures on their own land, by rogues and traitors and other bad actors. Short of hunting them all down, he could think of nothing to do but try to stop another tragedy before it happened through sheer watchfulness.

Badgermoon's yellow eyes lingered on Little Wolf as he paused to mark a mossy stump, brushing both sides of his face against the crumbling wood. None of the ThunderClanners he had become accustomed to seeing were present - namely, Flamewhisker or Flycatcher - but he still had inclined his head, twitching his whiskers. "ThunderClan." he murmured in greeting.

It feels nice to be on a patrol without Raccoonstripe's critical eye for once, though she was accustomed to it by now not having him constantly quizzing her on everything was a welcome relief and she gladly chatted with her mother as they walked; from her most recent training with the tom to how the gathering weather might be poor this moon and though she only mentioned it briefly she did also comment on her brother's new name. There was still a flair of jealousy streaming in her veins over it, but at the same time she was proud of him all the same-his success did not mean her failure, she would become a warrior by next moon as she should. Though a small part of her fretted over the possibility of her mentor refusing, taking his own time being laid up in the medicine cat den as time he would need to pay back in for her training; she felt she would lose her cool if such a topic came up.
If combat was to be her assessment and he said something of the sort, she might claw his ears off.
Little Wolf stops and so does she and it is then she finally realizes how small her mother is now, how she looked much larger when stood next to her. Another reminder of time's continual push forward. Tortie spotted ears flicked forward as the scent of WindClan drew closer and she narrowed her ice blue gaze at the unfamiliar black and white tom not to far from them who uttered a single word greeting and nothing else. Moonpaw glanced to the side, refusing to acknowledge even that paltry attempt at niceties; she didn't care for WindClan, so why would she feign it now.
"I heard WindClanners sleep in the open." She mused to the rest of the patrol, "I wonder how comfortable that is when it rains."

It was due to luck and history that Sunstride took well to these patrols. The time that he and Wolfsong had spent in a seemingly endless journey here hardened his paws and built his strength. A lifetime before that of trekking through snow kept him in good health. Exhausted as he may be at the end of the day, it does not show upon him now. He trails after the deputy with @Adderpaw alongside, though he does not consume himself with speaking to his apprentice. Instead, he observes in silence. Waiting for the way that he moves, how that he looks upon his surroundings. It is that, funnily enough, that has him nearly missing the patrol in its entirety. It is not until Badgermoon calls to them that his gaze sweeps back towards the forested edge of their territory. Across the twoleg path, he sees a small littering of them.

Wary, and certainly displeased. He does not speak a greeting to them, offering only a flicking of his ear. Though he had not been part of the group that Sootstar had taken with her, he knew of what occurred. That ThunderClan refused him was of no great surprise. They were not as strong as WindClan– they needed the front of certainty, if they are to survive. He wonders if Howlingstar would hold by her ideals if it were SkyClan crying for blood. He does not bother to ask.

  • ooc:
  • SUNSTRIDE. named for his coloration and his bold chasing of fate.
—— cis male, he - him. approx. 40 moons old. lead warrior of windclan + former rogue.
—— gay, but somewhat closeted. will not be open about his interests. single, will be so.
—— seems comparatively stranger than who he was some moons ago, serious and cool.

sunstride is broad and bold– a creature standing above most of windclan, though not a beast beyond its borders, with fur that flames red and deepens to a burnt amber with every whorl and stripe. his eyes, in comparison, are a pale summer's blue, still as bold as the rest of him.

No matter how battered she is, the calico cannot remain on bedrest. She had stayed still, stayed in camp for the entire time that her kits were nursing, and it still feels as though she's playing catch-up. And now, she's been assigned an apprentice—she can't stand to fall behind now. So here she is, dragging her frame fresh with wounds through the tunnels near ThunderClan territory. She takes a moment to poke her head aboveground, and gestures for her apprentice to follow behind as she shoves herself into the sunlight. A ThunderClan patrol stands across the border, faced by a few WindClanners as well, and Scorchstreak feels her mood instantly sour.

"ThunderClan," she mutters, blazing eyes narrowing. The fresh wounds across her face are evidence of her involvement in the fight against SkyClan; she hopes that the ThunderClanners can see them. She hopes that the ThunderClanners understand what a grave error their leader has made. With a huff, she turns away from the border to fix @cottonpaw with a look. "Stay far from the border," she says, pointedly. There will be no repeat of RiverClan.

( 🐍 ) Venomstrike wasn't far behind and his ears would perk forward at the sight of Thunderclanners at their border, a small frown present on his face though he chose to remain silent seeing that Badgermoon had already spoken. He would stay in the back and watched as the deputy would mark the border though his attention lingered on the Thunderclan cats for a bit longer before shifting away his gaze. What Moonpaw said next made his ear flick briefly and once more decided to not say anything considering the rest of his clanmates hadn't acknowledged that. Venomstrike would watch Scorchedstreak from the corner of his eye seeing her wounds and hoped that she didn't push herself too hard, he was sure that she wouldn't want to get an infection. He began to wonder what business Thunderclan had with them but he stood there calmly waiting to watch everything slowly unfold and see what everything was about.
