AN EYE FOR AN EYE, A LEG FOR A LEG. A SHOT IN THE HEART DOESN'T MAKE IT UNBREAK

࿐ ࿔*:・゚"Catch up, Roepaw. After this, we'll head back home." Beefang says once more knowing that her apprentice grows tired after walking from border to border but she doesn't care, she still has plenty of energy left to continue going on. For a heartbeat, she thinks about how fortunate Roepaw is to have gotten her as a mentor and how she'd teach him everything she knows despite her blind side. The heavily scarred warrior slows her pace slightly so she walks alongside the red tabby and truly fix her gaze onto him, her snout wrinkles momentarily and she parts her jaws to speak "You're lucky. A lot of kittens were apprentices at three moons before the code was placed." A part of her is glad the code was put forth by Blazestar but the other part of her questions if six moons would be enough to make Roepaw a good enough warrior for Riverclan. She'd simply have to have faith knowing that Lichenstar had done so when putting Roepaw under her care and wing, her tattered ear flicks, and she pauses when they reach the border as a soft breath slips from her lips. "This is the final border of today and I'll start your training within the next few days." She would allow him to rest today and perhaps begin to show him how to hunt so that he could have his very first catch soon.

"This is Skyclan, they have several forest born cats as well as kittypets." Her lip twitches in slight distaste but she manages to keep her usual stoic composure with a swift click of her teeth and tilts her helm to the side, "I'll admit that they aren't as bad as Thunderclan or Windclan since they provided us safety when rogues took over our home." A bitter memory that caused her to wince as if she was swallowing down the most bitter, awful tasting herb in Moonbeam's den and her bottlebrush tail lashes behind her once more. "But neither of those, rogues and kittypets, are allowed in Riverclan. Although, Lichenstar has made a few exceptions recently." Beefang can recall the mention of it from Cicadastar during her dream and she rolls her shoulders to push aside the thought soon turning to her apprentice once more with a less stern gaze. "Any questions?" The black smoke inquiries in a monotone voice waiting to hear what Roepaw may ask her, her tattered ear flicks when she notices movement on the other side of the river. She turns her lone eye in that direction only to motion the red tabby tom to get closer to her side so that he could drink in the scent of Skyclan and recognize it just as the other clans.

ooc - apprentice tag; @Roepaw but no need to wait :]

On the opposite side of the river, Howlfire strolls along with her own two apprentices close behind. She knows to make the most of these last few days, knowing the time will soon come for them to become warriors and she would be left without an apprentice, until the day Orangestar bestowed her with another one.

As they are walking, she hears chatter across the water, and signals with a gently flick of her head to the direction of the RiverClan border. "RiverClan ahead," She mewed, drawing attention to the cats opposite. She vaguely recognises the older cat, though does not know their name, and assumes the smaller cat trailing after them would be their apprentice. Howlfire would slow to allow either of her apprentices to say a friendly greeting over the river if they wished, but does not intend to stop for long.

slowly, very slowly… she is learning the many, many ropes. crochet’s mind dances with skyclan’s ideals, virtues, and the clans that reside over the edge of their borders. they were unique in their own ways, but things were… supposedly tense? crochet couldn’t tell which clans hated skyclan and the ones that were tolerable of the pine-dwellers. or their scents, annoyingly– she’s come to learn that her sense of direction isn’t the best.

crochet tastes the air, testing her sense of smell, and notices the lingering pair across the river. she blinks over at them, perhaps staring a bit too long (she’s never seen another clan cat until now).

"they smell, like, really fishy… lakeclan?" she wonders out loud, squinting in thought.

Stepping over a twisted root of a pine, Figfeather’s gaze quickly finds the two RiverClan cats across the border. The smaller one is an apprentice she does not recognize, but she knows Beefang as a younger RiverClan warrior. Figfeather’s tail twitches beckoning @Daisypaw to follow in her paw-steps.

Slipping up beside Howlfire and Crochet, she gives the newcomer a lighthearted, scrunched look. LakeClan? No, RiverClan.” She supposed it was a close enough guess though.

”Hello, Beefang.” Figfeather greats to be polite and not completely ignore the presence of the feline on the other side of the water. ”Did you get yourself an apprentice?” She meows, looking at the younger feline.

-ˋˏ ༻❁༺ ˎˊ- Falcongaze isn't far behind with @Radiopaw a few steps behind him. In the short period of time that Falcongaze has been a mentor, he has to admit that he's a bit... warmed at the thought of leading another's life through training, perils, morals- you name it. They had been up early, but not too early, knowing that rest was just as important as training. A soft breath left him as they approached Riverclan's border.

"Go ahead and mark a tree with our scent." He instructed his apprentice quietly, vision turning to spot who stood across the river- and perhaps he was stunned. Storm-blue eyes widened gently as he stepped closer to the border then he intended, searching Beefang's visage. The scarring, stars above... That must have been near-fatal. Her words were sharper, pin-pricks to the side of any beast that came near.

She's changed. He realized softly, and he drew himself into the stricter version of himself, that warmth he was showing Radiopaw disappearing behind crisp exterior and a raised chin. "Beefang." He greeted lightly, studying the once-River Princess in greater depth.

The older warrior held back a snort, molten gaze crinklin’ around the edges at the comment. “Close kiddo, but Figfeather’s right. This here is RiverClan.” He muttered, timbre a low, rumbled drone, gaze lingerin’ on Beefang and Roepaw. “They’ve got a leader like us — Lichenstar.” He added, wooly plumage sweepin’ across the ground. “Folks over there are real good fishers if ya don’t mind gettin’ wet.” He finished with a low sweepin’ rumble, mangled ears swivelin’.

He swept a gaze across RiverClan’s border with muted curiosity. “Ain’t much to it, but reckon it’s best to familiarize yerself with their scent—” He muttered, helm jerkin’ toward Falcongaze and Radiopaw. Not that it ain’t already distinctive. Don’t think ya can miss that pungent fish smell. “We haven’t gone over scentin’ borders much, but watch that there apprentice and mark a nearby tree.” He prodded Crochet, watchin’ the molly with deadpan hues. “Just be aware that ya ain’t crossin’ anyone’s borders but yet own.” This statement takin’ a low, hearty rumble, barely audible to the SkyClanners around him.

Radiopaw could feel himself getting stronger already. He loved the feeling of being out with his mentor every day. Going home to the house every night was getting more draining than anything at this point. He'd much rather wake up in camp. Nonetheless he padded alongside Falcongaze and followed orders. A cheek swiped carefully a few times over the branches aught to do the trick. He felt the warrior next to him shift to his chilled attitude before he even looked at him. Upon seeing Beefang's gnarled face he openly cringed. "Yo, what's up with that?" he had the decency to at least whisper, but StarClan would probably cuff him for saying something so callous. If Falcongaze didn't get to it first.
