it's a little rare for goosepaw to see starlingheart anywhere that isn't the medicine den or maybe they just don't pay attention as closely anymore since so many things have been happening as of late but whenever they do get a glimpse of that inky fur swatched with white it's always just for a split second before she's vanishing into the mouth of the cave where there's always a bittersweet smell wafting from inside.

he tries his best to visit from time to time but sometimes it's met with difficulty either from his mentor chiding them to stop distracting the medicine cat from her duties or they're being swatted away by the massive, cat-sized tick that taken residency inside the medicine den who just so happened to be named granitepaw. eugh, just thinking about that buzzkill is enough for goosepaw to make a distateful face.

thankfully when he had gone to visit her this afternoon she was alone and not busy which gave the blue tabby an opprotunity to steal her away from the drabness of camp with the promise of 'super epic training from yours truely'. they had only took her to the outskirts, not too close but not too far either just incase she might need to run back to deal with some pop-up emergency.

he's hoping that doesn't happen but this is shadowclan they're talking about.

"whew, alright starlingheart you ready to learn from your favorite, bestest friend ever?" goosepaw shoots the she-cat a cheeky grin.

@STARLINGHEART .
[ IT'S FUNNY HOW DUMB YOU ARE. ]

Sometimes when she lays eyes on the other apprentices, she feels a deep pang in her heart. Sometimes all she feels is emptiness. It feels like a piece of her is missing, something that has been stolen away from her before she even had a chance to realize it. Childhood. For only a moment she had the opportunity to know what it was like to be an apprentice with the rest of her denamates. For a little bit she had slept beside them, joked with them, even wrestled with them from time to time. Now though, she was always too busy.

There was always something to be done, wether it be count and recount her herbs, or go and get more, or even tend to the clans gravesite it sometimes felt like her job was never ending. Today though, there is a small pause in the chaos and Starlingheart finds she has not a single idea what to do.

As she is contemplating her newfound time, the form of a gray tabby tom materializes in the entrance of her den. Immediately she recognizes it as Goosepaw. If his silvery pelt hadn’t given him away, his voice certainly would have. Immediately the corners of her mouth turn up into a smile.

She follows him to the place they are headed, excited by the idea of maybe actually learning something. She nods her head and says "R-ready as I’ll ever be!" it felt nice to get out of the cave she called a den every once in a while, to do something that wasn’t medicine cat related. "What sh-should we do first?" she thinks back to her first experience with battle training and secretly she hopes Goosepaw is not as hard of a mentor as Pitchstar was.

DON'T YOU GIVE ME UP, PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP

starlingheart deserved the rest. poor kid hadn't had a break since they day they were forced into becoming a full medicine cat due to the ignorance and absolute betrayal of the last medicine cat who... it didn't matter. they laid down, slowly grooming their fur, being sure to be in earshot of the two just in case they needed anything. surely they wouldn't. no matter what rank, they were still shadowclanners. and they needed this. time to debrief. to take time away from being so stressed and tired. they could live with that. that's what they wanted for their clan. for them to feel comfortable enough to just relax sometimes. they closed their eyes with a sigh, with ears twitching and tail swaying. they just needed to rest. everyone did.

Knowing was half the battle. Just what the battle was, is unclear, but it is everlasting, and Sharppaw could hardly stand that: not knowing. The crick of a brank or rustle of the pine is all it takes for her to worry. Keeping to yourself was difficult when you didn't like to be in the dark.

Another cat holds Starlingheart's attention today. Silver fur, star-splotched. He offers to teach, and with this, Sharppaw's face furrows. Starlingheart's life was more than herbs, she knows, she knows. But was it not fair to think any knowledge she gained should be that of healing? (As useless as she was) Was this where she got her scraps of knowledge, from her bestest friend ever?

Don't mistake arrogance for talent.

Of course she didn't. Sharppaw looks on with a pinched expression, frown set. "What do you have to teach?" he questions, half-mocking, half-not. His brows furrow in a way that make it somewhat genuine. The curiosity is there, he guesses.
