  two-toned blue tom with white, green eyes / reference
  sootspot carries the typical windclan litheness: a short stature, a wiry frame, the majority of which remains concealed beneath a thick tricolour coat. soot's fur is a mixture of two different greys, primarily an ashen colour that is accentuated with darker spots the same colour as his mothers around his eyes, legs and tails. the underside of his body is painted white with a horselike star parting the mask-like bands of charcoal between his eyes. an assymetrical white spot is dotted just to the side of this star, a namesake for the little tom. he has round, yellow-green eyes that seem unusually alert and active even when his expression is more dignified and reformed. he has white tufts on the tip of his ears that often become stained with flecks of dirt after long tunneling excursions, much to sootspot's annoyance.
  
  he carries himself like he is taller than he actually is, his default expression that of a haughty smirk. only his family and close friends get to see the full extent of his emotions, the rest of his gestures and body language are muted by comparison.

  sootspot carries all the hallmarks of a gentry: he has a polite attentiveness to his expressions when addressing others and there is a reserved friendliness to him, yet he carries himself with an arrogance that suggests he knows his worth and doesn't worry about flaunting it passive-aggressively. feeling at ease navigating the complicated social circles of his home, sootspot does his best to come across as a reliable but distant tunneler who will not make friends but can be trusted to do anything or talk to anyone. it is not a sentiment that is entirely true. put together in most social situations, he is maladroit when in more intimate settings with others, finding it uncomfortable to share tongues with anyone outside of immediate family and finding that he has little identity outside of his position as sootstar's son. with the challenge of new offspring threatening to take that away from him, sootspot desires to push himself even harder to earn approval.
  
  ambitious to a fault in seeing himself success, sootspot struggles to build connections outside of his immediate family and believes that lowering his guard around so many animals, especially after previously loyal cats betrayed his home, is a weakness. it is this caution of others that furthers his coldness towards them: he knows he is loyal, he does not know if anyone else is loyal. not as physically intimidating as other members of windclan due to his short stature, sootspot finds his worth through his intelligence and memory and by manipulating situations to his or his clans benefit, the former of which he is very confident in. he will absolutely promote fighting dirty and other 'dishonourable' tactics in combat. he is not a coward in battle, he is a coward when facing accountability for any wrongdoings he may have inflicted on others.
  
  though fiercely dedicated to windclan, sootspot also has an agenda of his own. dissatisfied with starclan's lightning strike at the gathering, he seeks to understand his ancestors on a deeper level and prove to them that they were wrong for such a thing and potentially manipulated by the other clans. he believes it is windclan's mission to cleanse starclan from the corruptive influence of the other groups. how he intends to do that is anyone's guess. with his family's focus shifting away from him, it is an idealogy that he doesn't feel comfortable sharing - only time will tell if it becomes exaggerated or muted by the events of the future.

  trust does not come easy to sootspot. having seen how quickly others have turned on his mother, he is protective of himself and perceives relationships with others as a weakness. he is suspicious at all times of others only getting close to him due to his family name and will attempt to use positive interactions to his advantage and offer very little in return. he is not one to outwardly express loyalty, instead showing his loyalty to others through implicit actions and displays of kindness that help the other physically or socially - not so much emotionally.
