"GIRL, YOU'RE A DIME, I'M A DIAMOND"
Everest and Rain dead at his feet. Their blood pooled beneath his paws. They had appeared as cold ghosts, nothing more than starry apparitions. Rain had spoken, but Tugger couldn't near anything but the ringing of his own ears. Amber babbling to his mate. He didn't mean to. He didn't mean it. But he had. He had aimed to kill, and kill he did. He was a murderer. He had killed a man who had done nothing to protect himself. He had killed a man and Rain and Everest had watched him do it from their starry perch. Their cold gaze bore straight through him.

Monster. He imagined them thinking. Demon. Devil. He hadn't bothered - or couldn't bring himself - to clean Amber's blood off of his chest. It stayed, cloying, clinging, corrupting his golden image with rust and crimson as it dried. Tugger was out of it, thinking, obsessing....

Fritter was tired, exhausted beyond her year and each step struck another chord in her heart. She had not killed, but she was fighting as if she would and there were tufts of gray between her claws. She feels sick to her stomach, she had stumbled home by herself, alone with the forest noises. Grief ached in her bones and tears threatened to spill as images of her own groupmates dead faces flashed in her mind. She was weak, she had been unable to stop Soot from killing Marigold. If she had been faster, stronger, lunged from the undergrowth quicker- she shuts her eyes as they finally spill.

There's a golden flash out of the corner of her eye and she almost hurls. Tugger. What would she say? What would she do? Her paws carry her forth. What would he think? Shes covered in blood, an ungodly sight but shes wobbling towards him and she pushes her face in to his shoulder. "Are you okay?" her voice is a quiet breath, full of longing, full of the need to be around someone who could ground her. On the contrary, he doesn't seem okay, and she prepares herself to listen. She would help him as much as he needed, she decides. She wouldn't leave his side until he was better.
