Mottled ginger fur was a flash as Flickeringspark ran past, darting into the tunnel as fast as if she were fire. The she-cat ran along the tunnel until she emerged out on the other side with a plump rabbit between her jaws. Flickeringspark whisked her tail with satisfaction. The ginger WindClan warrior's ears perked up as she heard howling sounds, and her green eyes widened as she spotted a fox running towards her at full speed.

Burying the rabbit, Flickeringspark braced herself for impact, flattened her ears and unsheathing her claws. The she-cat yelped as the fox lashed out and caught her across the shoulder. The WindClanner hissed with pain, rearing onto her hind paws and lashing out with her front claws, her blows catching the fox's muzzle. Flickeringspark snarled in satisfaction as she felt the flesh of her attacker's nose rip beneath her claws.

The fox yelped, then lunged toward Flickeringspark with snapping jaws. This time, though, the mottled she-cat dodged to the side quickly. Taking advantage of the fact she had winded her opponent, the WindClan warrior lunged forward and sliced open a wound in its flank. Her heart leaped as she heard the yowls and battle cries of her Clanmates rushing towards her.

༄༄ The sound of snarling brings Scorchstreak running—swift paws pulling her dappled form up and out of the tunnel that she's been patching up. Fiery eyes catch on a concerning sight, and it does not take long for her to leap into action. "Stay back," she says to the apprentice at her side; Pinkpaw may have fought bigger cats than herself and lived to tell of it, but predators are a different story entirely. As far as she knows, the younger calico has never faced a predator larger than herself before, and Scorchstreak will not risk her apprentice's safety with something so dangerous as a fox. Their battle training has not included anything such as badger or fox fighting yet; perhaps it is Scorchstreak's mistake, focusing so much on giving Pinkpaw the skillset to defend herself from other cats rather than from the random dangers out on the moors.

The lead warrior rushes in beside her clanmate, claws unsheathing as she joins Flickeringspark in facing down the fox. This situation is dangerous, potentially deadly—Scorchstreak says nothing as she strikes out at the fox, hoping to catch it with a claw across the soft of its nose, its muzzle. Whether her strike is successful or not, the calico then ducks away and rushes around to the other side of the fox, intent on keeping it from running off in the direction of camp. When it runs, they want it to go in the direction of Highstones, or even ShadowClan's territory.

Flickeringspark's ears perked up as she saw Scorchstreak join in on taking down the fox. The ginger she-cat slipped beneath the fox, using a paw to attempt to skillfully rake the soft belly of her opponent and attempt to knock the fox off its paws with the other paw aiming towards the tendon in its hind leg.

Dustyfoot, too, heard the snarling. The maze of tunnels beneath their territory echoes sound, funnels it around until they are lost. But Dustyfoot had trained in this damp dark. He knows them better than his whiskers. The entrance is not far off, and the tunneler he works with is behind him. He hopes, at least. By the time that he bursts out into the sunlight, that hardly matters. "Flickeringspark you hare-brain, get back!" he snaps in warning, as the collapsed fox snaps its fangs so close towards the tunneler's paw. Even bleeding, it is not down for long. They knew that this bounty would attract more than just hares. With bounty came prey; with prey, predators. And with predators. . . death, and missing limbs.

He leaps in to join Scorchstreak, drawing its attention from both of the warriors with a swipe to its flank. It spins, still snapping; how long until it realized there was easier prey to be found? That this rabbit was not worth its life? "Highstones?" he yells to both mollies, though he does not dare to turn his eyes from the beast to look.

  • 𝐃𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐘𝐅𝐎𝐎𝐓. HE - HIM - HIS. HARDWORKING TUNNELER OF WINDCLAN. ——— hardworking and swift of foot with a dirt-colored pelt fit for the finest of tunnelers, dustyfoot is an overall overage warrior despite his hard, excellently done work. he holds himself to a forgettable standard. PENNED BY REVELATIONS

a small seal sepia chimera with dull green-gold eyes. his thick fur gives him the illusion of greater size, quickly dispelled by the sight of his bottlebrush pelt disappearing into the rabbit holes of his clan's territory. made of dark colors darkened further by the dusting of dirt and packed mud, the only part of him that gleam are his teeth through endless chatter and his eyes in their clever gleam.

Flickeringspark made sure that she had gotten out of the fox's way, though it nearly caught her paw. Hissing, the WindClanner lashed out with that same paw and opened a small gash just above the fox's eye with blood dripping into it. Green eyes glistening with hate for the fox, Flickeringspark lashed her tail and then began to circle it, lunging and landing a few blows on her attacker's flanks.

The fox yelped and twisted, jaws snapping and aiming for its opponent's throat, but Flickeringspark was too fast. As if she were flames, the warrior quickly dodged beneath the fox and knocked it off its paws once more. Then she leaped onto its back and opened gashes in the fox's rear with her hind claws. She jumped down beside Dustyfoot and Scorchstreak, spitting.

The fox let out a howl of pain, scrambling to its paws and fleeing the battle scene as well as WindClan Territory altogether. Flickeringspark sat back on her haunches and began to wash the wound on her shoulder clean. If she didn't get it clean nor treated, it would become infected and the WindClanner could die from infection.

''Thank you, you two,'' The molly turned her Clanmates. ''I would have died if it hadn't been for either of you.''

──ᨒ↟↟ᨒ↟ᨒ↟↟ᨒ── Wolfsong can recall the outcome of the last fox attack with unfortunate clarity. Venomthroat's sacrifice over the gorge to protect WindClan from a rabid fox was an admirable —if tragic— display of loyalty. Sometimes, he has wondered whether Venomthroat and the other lost WindClanners would have sided with Sootstar or Sunstar. Weaselclaw would surely have joined his mate, of course, but what of the steely Juniperfrost? What of Sunsetbreeze? There is little use for such speculation, of course, but Wolfsong finds himself wondering all the same.

Regardless of past battles, foxes can be formidable foes, and as the medicine cat finds the trio in the aftermath of the fleeing creature, he gives them each a cursory glance over for severe injuries. Aside from Flickeringspark's shoulder, Scorchstreak and Dustyfoot appear unscathed, and some of the tension leaves his spine. This could have ended far worse. What a fool of a fox that was, attacking a cat with much easier prey abound.

"Come, we must visit my den so I may see to your shoulder, and perhaps warn the other patrols of a bold fox." Even beaten, Wolfsong feels it would be prudent to inform their other hunters. He's sure the tunnelers and Flickeringspark will agree.

  • ★★★☆☆ WOUNDS: You're (mostly) in safe paws. You'll know if he's less experienced if he asks for your permission to try a treatment. No wound can scare him away from knowledge.
★★★☆☆ INFECTION: He can prevent most infections. If you feel feverish, let him know; he'll hum thoughtfully over herbs and sniff your wound before saying, "With your blessing..."
  • ★☆☆☆☆ ACHES & PAINS: If you complain to him of pain, he'll ask where. If it's a headache, you'll likely feel a bit better. For anything else, "Try this, if you'd like, and tell me how you feel."
★☆☆☆☆ BROKEN BONES: At best. he can ask you to remain lying down in the den. He may try to distract you with conversation while he considers what herb to feed you.
  • ★★★★★ TRAVELING HERBS: Going somewhere? No worries; Wolfsong knows just what you need to stay hale and healthy during your journey. The rest is up to you.
★★★☆☆ KITTING: Thanks to Starlingheart and his own pregnancy, he's better prepared for the arrival of kits, but any complications will need a little faith and a lot of luck.
  • ★☆☆☆☆ POISONS: It's best if you avoid eating anything unfamiliar to you— it's probably just as unfamiliar to Wolfsong. The best he can do is offer you yarrow and sit with you.
★★☆☆☆ ILLNESS: If it's white or greencough, you'll likely recover. Otherwise, prepare for odd concoctions and the usual request that you consent to a little trial-and-error.
