LO RITORNERÓ [✨] JUNE MEETING

SOOTSTAR
In the same day that Sootstar had announced her battle plans with the clan, she calls them for a meeting at sunhigh. "Let all cats old enough to race the moors gather beneath the Tallrock for a clan meeting!" Further good news would help them prepare and grow confident for the battle head. These up and coming ceremonies would remind all once more that WindClan was strong and their strength only heightened with every passing day.

"Four apprentices have proven to myself and their mentors that they are ready to become warriors. Sparkpaw, Azaleapaw, Morningpaw, and Larkpaw, step forward." She finds the apprentices easily as they trickle forward one by one, it is now that she descends from the Tallrock to stand before them. Now on ground level she continues, "Sparkpaw, Azaleapaw, Morningpaw, and Larkpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your clan, even at the cost of your life?"

//ceremonies; @sparkpaw. @Azaleapaw @Morningpaw~ and @Larkpaw !

Today was the day. Her warrior ceremony. Her fur prickled with excitement and anticipation. Sootstar trusted her. Her, of all cats. Her kittypet blood meant nothing to her, and she was glad someone finally felt the same.

She had worked hard for this day. Struggled and toiled past her limit to prove she was not a lazy kittypet. It was finally starting to mean something, she was finally a Windclan warrior and not a dead weight.

She reflects on her life so far,and regrets none of the choices she has made. She has been ruthless to her enemies and loyal to her clan even when they looked down on her. Even when Sootstar looked down on her. But here she was, ready to gift her her warrior name.

"I do." She says with utmost sincerity.

Her path was changing. Where once she wanted to crush most of her clanmates beneath her paws for how they viewed and treated her, she realizes she doesn't feel that way so much anymore.

Instead of being above them, she finds she wants to be alongside them instead. It could change in a heartbeat, but for now, she is not the orphaned kittypet kit found by her mother's corpse on the thunderpath.

She is a proud warrior of Windclan, maybe not born, but certainly raised.

❪ TAGS ❫ — Ah, yes — four new warriors were to be added to WindClan's ranks, though it shouldn't come as a surprise that Snakepaw is not particularly fond of either of them. Three of the names mentioned hailed from traitorous blood; living and breathing disgraces. He wonders how Sootstar herself feels about Yewberry's kin. Does she loathe having to bestow their new names, or is she secretly glad that her army is growing in size?

Azaleapaw does not possess traitorous blood like the others, though she is still nothing more than a kittypet in his eyes. He is glad that he is due to receive his own name in the next moon; he isn't sure how long he would have been able to tolerate being inferior in rank to this particular group.

For now, Snakepaw watches on silently, a look of utter distaste hunkering down onto his features.

// thank you for the shoutout! :3

Another meeting assures WindClan's strength; back from the tunnels she'd left for at dawn, nearly frothing over the impending battle, Cygnetstare sits obedient in the hollow and listens. Four new warriors only swell their ranks with the blessed, those assured by birthright or by happy coincidence a place among the chosen. Perhaps it's the battle she awaits with bated breath that has sent her into this quietly frenzied state, but either way it brings her nothing but a terrible happiness to see new warriors join their ranks; her own ceremony, only a few moons past, comes to mind. Perhaps soon she will have an apprentice to call her student, to mold and shape into the kind of warriors WindClan needs running beneath the earth,

They watch in silence, not one nearly as malevolent as Snakepaw's, as the new warriors take the vows that will elevate them to the stars.

// thanks for shoutout! :)

.✫*゚・゚ | Mousepaw had been in camp that morning, bored out of his mind and hoping that there would be a patrol that he would be allowed to go on or a training session, something to get his paws moving. When Sootstar announced there to be a meeting, his ears pricked and face turned towards the Tallrock before standing up and heading over the few short steps it took to get there. It wasn't much movement, but he couldn't complain too much.

Listening to the words the leader spoke at first, one of the tom's ears flicked for a moment before he sought them out in the crowd, slight distaste flashing across his face for a moment before he settled down, turning his attention back to Sootstar.

Still tensed with energy, Scorchstreak approaches the rock at their leader's call. They cannot wait for nightfall, for the beginning of the attack that Sootstar had promised to launch on SkyClan. This seems to be a less emotionally charged meeting, a more typical one for the usual announcements. New apprentices, new warriors. WindClan could always use more warriors—and the very first announcement that the leader makes is that of naming new warriors. The calico does not cheer, but their golden gaze settles on each of the apprentices in turn, awaiting their responses to the question. Some of them, they are certain will be great warriors. And some… they aren't certain, but they hold hope for the young cats to become great fighters for their clan.
[ LIKE A RATTLESNAKE ]

The black and white warrior watches the meeting with narrowed eyes. Four apprentices becoming warriors, and none of them deserving of it. Their glare is pinned on Azaleapaw, the worst of the four. Not because she is of house cat origin, but because she is a venomous rat in her own right. She stood against Firefang so blatantly, spat horrible things in defense of her awful friend—and now she will join Gravelsnap and Firefang in rank. She does not deserve to be a warrior. Perhaps it would have been better for her to have taken Dazzlepaw's place; at least Dazzlepaw didn't have enough spine to be a threat when he eventually turned on the clan. Because he would have, he certainly would have, and so will Azaleapaw as soon as she's given the chance.

Gravelsnap scowls as she accepts Sootstar's words with an undoubtedly fake I do. The stars will strike her down someday, when she inevitably breaks the promise that she is making both to them and to Sootstar.

Today was bittersweet, he wished both parents were here to see him become a warrior. But alas, they were gone and he was left with his siblings and remaining family.

Which was fine! He just wished Echolight and Yewberry were here to see it. He strode forth when called and sat with his siblings, head held high as he listened to Sootstar speak.

"I do." He says confidently. He had no plans to leave these moors. He would serve Windclan until his dying breath.

He glanced to his siblings. He wondered how they were feeling. He hoped they could still find joy in this moment, despite everything.

It takes all of his effort to get up, to move - hobbling his way to the edge of the den, leaning heavily against the wall. He shouldn't be moving, really, but he cannot, will not, miss his. Azaleapaw is his friend - he will watch her ceremony even if it kills him. She's adjusted well to windclan, has fought and killed more than himself - she's become a warrior windclan would be proud of, he thinks. She's earned this.

Alongside the others, Sparkpaw steps up– and he could not have felt more wrong to do so. The world beneath his paws has cracked and shifted. No longer is Sparkpaw the littermate to Morningpaw and Larkpaw, the son of Echolight and Yewberry. Amorphous and lingering, the old apprentice, the young warrior he is soon to be, he can't decide if he's glad for this moment or not. Maybe the numbness of his mother's disappearance has not fully left him. Maybe he knows he's a disappointment to most. Was Weaselclaw proud of him, at least? He had given the warrior one last glance as his apprentice before coming here. Had there been anything there to reassure him? Now that he stands before Sootstar, a cat who is out of place on equal ground with him, he's not certain. He hopes so. Weaselclaw was the only stability he'd had for these moons.

A deep breath in, and slowly out. He looks at their leader unflinchingly, and Sparkpaw's last words as an apprentice are firm and loud: "I do." I'll make you proud. Who else was there for him but WindClan?

SOOTSTAR
All four apprentices breathe their 'I do's', Sootstar dips her head to them and approaches Morningpaw first. One of Echolight's kits, a weak lineage Larkpaw and he hails from, but they've proven themselves. The small she-cat just hopes a day will not come where they choose to follow any of their traitorous kin's pawsteps.

"Morningpaw, by the powers of StarClan I give you your warrior name. From this moment forward you will be known as Morningsong. StarClan honors your discipline and dedication, and we honor you as a full warrior of WindClan." Her head rears forward to rest her muzzle upon Morningsong's head. Once she feels the lick against her shoulder she draws away and focuses her evergreen gaze upon his litter-mate.

"Larkpaw, by the powers of StarClan I give you your warrior name. From this moment forward you will be known as Larkfeather. StarClan honors your dedication and kindness, and we welcome you as a full warrior of WindClan." As her muzzle touches Larkfeather's head, she hopes the same for her as she did for her brother. All that was left to do is hope Gorseprickle and Rabbitpounce had taught them loyalty, and had taught it well.

Next was a ceremony she'd never thought she'd hold. The blue and white form of Azaleapaw stands before her, Sootstar still remembers the day she had been found helpless along the thunderpath. Her pelt had stunk of kittypet, and despite all of her poking and prodding Sootstar never had gotten the blue apprentice to show the kittypet nature that ran through her veins. It infuriated Sootstar, she knows it was deep in her spirit somewhere... but where?! Why could she not find it?

Perhaps Mintshade had trained it all out of her... that is why her black-furred sister had been assigned to Azaleapaw after all. Hopefully her talents were not wasted on this cat, but even Sootstar ultimately could not deny Azaleapaw has hints of potential.

"Azaleapaw, by the powers of StarClan I give you your warrior name. From this moment forward you will be known as Azaleafrost. StarClan honors your ferocity and loyalty and we welcome you as a full warrior of WindClan." Frost, a strong prefix. When she grants Azaleapaw this name she thinks of Tigerfrost and Juniperfrost, two ferocious warriors of WindClan with an unquenchable loyalty for their clan.

The lithe feline gives Azaleafrost a silent look before placing her muzzle against her head, Do not make me regret bestowing such a powerful name onto you.

Last, but most certainly not least, Sparkpaw. The night and flame colored apprentice was Weaselclaw's work, she has not the faintest doubt in her mind that he will be everything a WindClan warrior should be. He is the first apprentice of the meeting to earn the briefest of smiles from her. Sootstar does not see him as she does the rest of his litter-mates, he is not son of Echolight and Yewberry, he is not kin of Mallowlark, Emberfang, nor Pollenfur. He is the apprentice of Weaselclaw, esteemed and most loyal warrior of WindClan. He is parentless, a son of WindClan.

"Sparkpaw, by the powers of StarClan I give you your warrior name. From this moment forward you will be known as Sparkspirit. StarClan honors your determination and focus and we honor you as a full warrior of WindClan." Sootstar rests her muzzle upon the young warrior's forehead, only drawing away at the lick of her shoulder.

Beginning her ascent once more onto the Tallrock the gathered clan erupts in chanting, celebrating the new warriors and calling them by their new names.

This is a special meeting for Weaselclaw. His coat is groomed of the grit clinging to it from the moors so that even the dullest shades of brown shine. White chin is lifted high, defiant in the face of StarClan, who would curse him and those closest to him. Sparkpaw is becoming a WindClan warrior today, alongside his littermates and Azaleapaw. He has his doubts about the loyalties of the other three… but he has none at all about Sparkpaw. His apprentice has shown time and time again that he is loyal to his Clan, and that he puts WindClan above his traitorous kin.

The tabby catches Sparkpaw's electric-blue eyes, and he gives him a small nod. You deserve this. He sits tall as Sootstar names the other warriors. Azaleafrost, Morningsong, Larkfeather—and then Sparkpaw, the aimless kit he'd been entrusted moons and moons ago, becomes Sparkspirit. Weaselclaw purrs, a grating and rusty sound. "Sparkspirit! Sparkspirit!" He knows he must cheer for the others—but Sparkspirit will know who he chose to cheer for first. With less gusto, Weaselclaw calls out, "Azaleafrost! Morningsong! Larkfeather!"

He only hopes the other three prove themselves as worthy of a WindClan warrior name as Sparkspirit has and will.

Azaleafrost.

She hadn't expected the name, considering the suffix of frost had been attached to two very revered cats in the clan, both of which are no longer with them. It was a strong name, and one given to her, of all cats. She supposed she also had a frosty personality, but the knowledge of the last cats to hold it was not lost on her.

She is praised for her ferocity and loyalty, and she can only feel pride swell within her. For her viciousness to be noticed, to be acknowledged... That's what she wanted. She was not as soft as everyone wanted to be. She was much the opposite, and proved so time and time again. She caught the look that Sootstar gave her, and returned it with one of conviction.

If it's a ferocious warrior Sootstar wants, then it's a ferocious warrior she will get.

Hearing her name be cheered was an experience she had never felt before. She'd never been cheered for.... It was such an odd, positive feeling. She looked behind her to see if Mintshade was among those cheering. She wanted to know....Was she proud?

Unlike most of those already gathered, Rattleheart didn't feel apprehension about the apprentices being made into warriors - not even the ones that had come from less than noble roots. After all, if they were to be judged based off of who they had come from, what of himself, Scorchstreak, and Lizardbounce? They had all once been nothing more than loners, and now they were all respected warriors of Windclan. Ones that would never disrespect or betray their home - not even in the moments where Rattleheart doubted Sootstar's judgement, or was frightened by her ferocity. Something that had come up fairly recently, considering he had been called along with the others into battle.

His stomach was still in knots over that even as he approached, Sootstar's harsh call setting him on edge in spite of his best efforts to look calm and determined heading into the coming battle. He settled down near Scorchstreak, hoping his sister wouldn't be able to sense the apprehension that felt like it was coming off of him in waves. At least the warrior ceremonies allowed him a temporary distraction, the tunneler raising his voice to join the crowd of others as he called out. "Morningsong! Larkfeather! Azaleafrost! Sparkspirit!" His breath doesn't falter for any of them, contrasting the less enthusiastic shouts of warriors such as Weaselclaw. No matter who they were, all of them were new warriors of Windclan. Warriors that would hopefully keep them from falling apart from Sootstar's aggressive leading style.

// thank you for the shoutout! <3

"Azaleafrost!" Her voice choruses with her clanmates although far louder, grin visible on dark fur and pulled from ear to ear so wide she worries her jaw might split in two from the strain of it; she couldn't be more pleased. Mintshade had never wanted an apprentice, she had never cared for training the other until so late into their apprenticeship out of disinterest and she'd spent most of it just rolling her eyes and mocking the ex-kittypet but there was no denying the blue she-cat had grown on her. A proper warrior for WindClan, she'd sunk her claws into their enemies time and again and proven herself enough that any who might say otherwise would face the dark she-cat's claws in retaliation. She didn't train no slouch, she didn't waste time on some pampered little furball like SkyClan might have; no, she had molded her apprentice into a fitting indication of her own skill and what WindClan needed. The tenacity to fight, the bloodlust to conquer, the willingness to throw oneself wholeheartedly into battle without hesitation.
She catches the newly named warrior's eye and wanders over, paw raised to cuff at a blue ear in a rough but playful gesture, "Frost, huh? It has a good ring to it-plenty of good cats wore it before you, try not to share the same fate as them would ya?"

✿ — Ceremonies are always exciting - perhaps for a bit of selfish reasoning too, but the point stands nevertheless.

It's a reminder that one day, it will be Peonypaw standing before Sootstar with breath stuck in his throat as he waits for her to name him a true warrior. It's also, and more importantly so, a nod to a better future with stronger paws joining the ranks of WindClan. An addition to them. Always ready to face the challenges their neighbors and life in general throw at them.

Peonypaw celebrates with the others, calling out the new names with pride for his Clan.

He lumbers to sit with his former apprentice, eyes forward on the shadowy tyrant as she stands above them all, not long ago deciding to drag more cats to their possible graves. His single amber eye was unreadable, features stilled in stony contempt as always, as his gory, scarring flesh stood out against his dark-toned pelt like sore thumbs, an eery reminder to those who looked of the last time they'd been called to vengeance's heed. His ears flicked as cats were made warriors, cats he had few interactions with, but one stuck out like a sore thumb. His gaze flicked to Azaleapaw-Azaleafrost now as deemed by the mad queen-and Houndthistle couldn't stop the way his brows furrowed in distatse. To give a cat such as her the same suffix as Juniperfrost, let alone Tigerfrost, felt like a mockery to the warriors. Kittypet weakness flowed in her veins, and though she bravely fought in the skirmish, Houndthistle couldn't shake a feeling of ire he felt when he looked at her, her smug face and that conviction. He spoke confidently the names of the triplets, but that name did not grace his tongue.

SOOTSTAR
The chanting swells down into whispering. Sootstar, who is now once more atop Tallrock, retakes the spotlight. "Juniperkit, Littlekit, Hollykit, and Scorpionkit, step forward." Patiently she waits for the four kittens to make their way to the base of the rock.

"Juniperkit, Littlekit, Hollykit, and Scorpionkit, you have all reached the age of three moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. Juniperkit, from this day on until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Juniperpaw. Your mentor will be Bluepool. I hope Bluepool will pass down all she knows onto you."

As her striped sister pads forward to touch noses with Juniperpaw she continues, "Bluepool, though you've just finished training Periwinklebreeze you show endless loyalty and energy for your clan. You will be the mentor of Juniperpaw and I expect you to pass on all you know onto him." She dips her head to Bluepool before her gaze turns to Littlekit.

"Littlekit, from this day on until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Littlepaw. Your mentor will be Peatbelly. I hope he will pass down all he knowns onto you." Peatbelly was a fine tunneler, among one of the first in fact. It was about time he was given an apprentice of his own, hopefully Littlepaw will turn into just as good of a navigator as he is. StarClan knows in the beginning he had saved Sootstar from a lost fate in the tunnels more than once.

"Hollykit, from this day on until you earn your warrior name you will be known as Hollypaw. Your mentor will be Weaselclaw. I hope Weaselclaw will pass down all he knows onto you." Perhaps some would be shocked by this choice, Sparkspirit had only just graduated. However, in times like these there were few cats Sootstar could trust to mentor their apprentices to be loyal to herself... If any cat was going to make a loyal soldier it was her mate.

"Weaselclaw, Sparkspirit's training may have only just ended but you are an impeccable mentor. Your ferocity and courage in battle makes you feared throughout all the clans, I hope you pass down these same traits onto Hollypaw." The new pairing touches noses and she moves onto the last kit.

"Scorpionkit, from this day on until you earn your warrior name you will be known as Scorpionpaw. Your mentor will be Redrumble. I hope Redrumble will pass down all she knows onto you." Redrumble too was a fine tunneler despite her rogue past. She knows she'll be able to make a good tunneler out of Scorpionpaw.

Today was the day, her kits were going to apprenticed and off with their mentors.... She was thankful for the ability to hold back tears. If she didn't have it, she'd be a mess right now. They're growing up too fast, she worries for them. Windclan has too many enemies and not enough allies, if any. She thinks of Cottonpaw, held hostage at the bridge. She thinks of the burials she's witnessed, the injuries from battles.

It's different now. Things will be okay now. They're safe.

She needed to tell herself this.

Despite all the turmoil inside, she still groomed each kit to perfection and watched them approach the tall rock to receive their apprentice names and mentors. She cheered for her kits with pride, they were shaping up to be fine warriors already, and she was happy to be their mother. She wondered if Juniperfrost was watching, if he was as proud as she was. He was an easy to please tom, after all.

She approached her kits after they had been named and mentored. "I'm so proud...You'll all be incredible apprentices." She said. "Don't drive your mentors TOO insane." She adds. Only a LITTLE insane.

I'M GONNA WIN

Scorpionkit can hardly contain her excitement as she looks to her leader, sitting high and imperious upon the Tallrock. Her ruddy brown eyes do not stray from Sootstar even as Spiderbloom attempts to groom her spiky fur, wild cowlick as resistant to her mother's efforts as it always is. This is the day she's been waiting for. Apprenticehood.

The warriors come first — but she'll be one of them someday, she knows. For now, for now. She scampers forwards a bit too quickly as her name is called, stumbling a bit in her over-eagerness. But appearances are the last thing on her mind; Scorpionkit's toothy grin does not falter. She'll be able to train, to fight, to hunt, to delve into the tunnels, to be something more than just a tiny and pitiful kit. Not that she ever was one, of course. Scorpionkit was born a fighter.

Scorpionpaw, Sootstar names her, and she wears the name with pride.

Mentored by Redrumble, it seems; a crooked grin grows even wider. She remembers the tunneler telling of her blood-spattered tunnel hunts... It sounded so cool. She thought, at the time, that she'd like to see that one day, and now she will. A fitting mentor.

A nose touched to Redrumble's, and she's trotting back to her mother, head help high. "You'll all be incredible apprentices," says Spiderbloom. "HAH! Ya bet I will! Scorpy'll be the best apprentice in WindClan ~ ♪ !" she singsongs, punctuating her words with a little cackle. Then, a mischievous glance to Redrumble. "Jus' hope my mentor can keep up," she adds in a stage whisper. Redrumble could better than most cats, she thinks. Still, it's not Scorpionkit's fault if she drives her a little insane.
I'M GONNA TRY
