pafp Abominable Snowcat || scaring Amberhaze

[ ༻❄༺ ] Usually, it would be quite hard to sneak up on Amberhaze, the tom was always skittery in Snowlark's mind, paranoid even that the thought of him letting his guard down was unimaginable. He even avoided walking too close near snow mounds, yet luckily for the young lead warrior the thickets of the camp's wall and mix of snow, his fur and burying himself partially to where he was well hidden made it difficult for anyone unsuspecting to notice. Of course, Amberhaze was not his initial target, oh no. Snowlark waited for someone to just passby which had unfortunately been Amberhaze. Yellow eyes locking onto his target before he rushed out from under the thicket and thorns, snow covering him slightly while he puffed up his fur to make himself even bigger before making a loud noise of a failed attempt of a raor.

"I've come for your bones!!" he jokingly yowled before even noticing who he had basically rushed himself at. Pausing, Snowlark quickly shook off the snow that stuck to his pale fur before looking widely at the already probably jumped out of his skin warrior while a awkward loopsided grin fell on the normally serious lead warrior. He had commited a "crime" a lead warrior on lead warrior "crime" but he couldn't help but choke back a chuckle or two because he wished he had gotten to see Amberhaze's full reaction. Everything just been a blurr and rush of the moment type of deal. "Woops, my bad Amberhaze" he said, trying to hide the amusement he felt at this incident.

⚛︎₊˚‧ It was usually considered a misfortune for a Shadowclan cat to bear a coat of colors consisting of anything brighter than lifeless blacks, greys and browns. It's what made them so difficult to detect, their own varying shades of darkness ensuring that they would blend into the abyssal shadows of the pine forest that they mimicked. Amberhaze was lucky to have been born cataclysmic without an ounce of color besides his familiar ebony despite not being clan born. It was luck, really, that he seemed meant to stalk along Shadowclan grounds. But in Leafbare...it was a different story. In Leafbare, those who would have been looked upon as a genetic misfortune with their bright colored pelts or blinding whites had their opportunity to shine. They would become one with the snowy terrain just as the darker would become one with the muggy marshland.

Amberhaze didn't suspect anything to come of his leisurely stroll- or as leisurely as someone like him could manage- he hardly ever allowed himself time to simply exist, to unwind. It was peaceful, and he figured he enjoyed it. The silence was welcome, his bug-eyed stare slightly less intense than usual as he set one delicate paw in front of the other and taking in the serenity of the scenery around him. He couldn't remember the last time he felt like the world had finally stilled, finally allowed for a moment of genuine tranquility. What a rarity in Shadowclan, especially as of late. Truthfully, that piece of information should have been enough to remind him that he should still keep one of his eyes trained behind him, keep one ear pricked and muscles just tense enough to allow for a swift departure should danger decide to strike.

It came quickly, in the form of a horrible caterwaul. "I've come for your bones!!" Followed by a cascade of powdery sleet as an unidentified figure threw itself in Amberhaze's direction. He would match the yowl, jumping upwards into the air as if he had sprouted wings before scrambling away at breakneck speeds to hide within the protection of surrounding brush. Holding his breath with burning lungs, he almost missed what the voice said next amidst the overwhelming roar in his own ears. "Woops, my bad Amberhaze." As the initial shock died down and Amberhaze slowly began to still, he swore that he recognized that faceless meow.

"...S-Snowlark...? Angular head peeked out from within thick bushes, the gangly tom still visibly shaking with a vile grimace contorting his features. "Y-You...Are you-?" He finished the rest of his sentence internally, too choked up to continue outwardly. ...Laughing? A joke. Of course, Snowlark saw his attempt at giving him a heart attack to be nothing more than harmless banter. Amberhaze's gaze hardened in an uncharacteristic display of discontent.

"Yeah- Y-Yeah, that w-was y-your bad." The oriental's yellowed fangs chattered as he spoke, and he felt his pelt flush with embarrassment as he rose from his hiding place. "W-What was that f-for? Why a-are you j-just... c-covering your-yourself in- in snow like that? D-Don't you h-have a- uh- p-patrol to run or- or something?" His tone was bitter as he choked out the questions.

AMBERHAZE — HE/HIM ・ 20 MOONS ・ LEAD WARRIOR OF SHADOWCLAN ・ PENNED BY SLOANE
black oriental shorthair. a short but lengthy black cat with a boney build and striking ocher eyes filled with unveiled trepidation.

Burdocktail watches the scene unfold with an unreadable expression. Snowlark, leaping out at the first cat to pass him by, yowling something about taking their bones. The first cat, as fate would have it, being one of the most neurotic warriors ShadowClan has to offer. Oh, StarClan really does have such a cruel sense of humor; choosing poor Amberhaze as the subject of Snowlark's torment. The tom leaps so far into the air, he could be mistaken for a SkyClan cat, and scrambles into the bushes with his tail tucked between his legs.

It's such a childish prank, he has to blink a couple of times just to make sure that it was a lead warrior pulling it and not one of ShadowClan's youths. And the other lead warrior? He'd skittered away like a mouse from a swooping owl. Stars above... Is this who Ternstar trusts on her council?

Putting on a smile to disguise their disdain, Burdocktail pads over, glancing between their two superiors. "Careful, Snowlark. You wouldn't want to give our dear Amberhaze a heart attack so soon after his promotion, would you?" What a shame that would be.

Screechstorm isn't quite sure what he's watching when he catches a glimpse of Snowlark hunkering down against the snow-bound walls of camp. But why ask, why near the gray and white tom's ploy, when he can watch instead? A mismatched gaze settles on the scene, and it isn't long before he's able to watch it unfold, as a shouting Snowlark leaps forward to scare the first cat to walk past him.

And oh, what awful timing Amberhaze has! Though he feels bad for the poor sap, he can't help the snort of amusement that arises as the night-dark tom scrambles backward, as glowing eyes grow round and a louder shout erupts from him.

These are lead warriors, he finds himself reminding himself — though in the moment, the label upon the two seems a piece of fiction. Would Forestshade have done the same? Scare a fellow council member? Actually... maybe.

A crooked grin settles on his face as he moves toward the scene. " Good one, Snowlark! " he tells the lead warrior, his head dipping in greeting to the lead warriors, to Burdocktail too. His tail flicks at the fellow warrior's words. " Ternstar would be pleased, I'm sure. " Though would it be news, a surprise, for one of the clan's highest ranked members to fall?

[ SCREECHSTORM ]

Named after his birth-given warning cry, Screechstorm appears in shadowed tones — save for splotches of orange that litter his left side. His mismatched green gaze almost always carries a mischievous glint, a crooked grin in tandem. Scars wrack his sides, a harsh reminder of his near-reckless nature.
