-ˋˏ ༻❁༺ ˎˊ- it was quiet now. the camp has soft buzzing going around as the sun begun to set, and the moon begun to rise. orangepaw has always liked the moon. it's peaceful. full or not full. if there is a bit of it hanging in the air, in a shape of a claw, he loves it. if it is full like paw, he loves it. he simply loves the moon. the creatures that come out at might always differ from the ones that were out during the day and he has to admit he does love them all but he has a favorite. starflies. he knows that others call them fireflies, but starflies make so much more sense to him. he pushes out of the medicine cat den, quiet as he moves and twitches his ears when he follows a small night patrol out of camp. he said he would join them when they were ready to leave. he meant it.

they stop near the great sycamore for a break. orangepaw is thankful for it as he sits down with a soft huff. his lungs hurt. his leg hurts. but still he smiles. he can't not smile. his ears twitch as he feels something land on his ear before he lays down fully, rolling on his back and blinking up as bugs begin to float above him and light up. his eyes practically get stars in them, a gasp leaving him as one lands on his muzzle. he can't help his giggle as a bunch of them land on him. it tickles!

"ehehe! hi, little friends! i love you all soooo much!"

his voice is nothing more than a whisper but he is excited, unable to stop his body from wiggling so excitedly. he loves fireflies. he loves their little touches that feel like kisses from the stars themselves.

⁺₊⋆ ☀︎ ⋆⁺₊ Camp at night was peaceful, well, at least in terms of cats coming and going. All the tasks of the day were done, bellies full, and most early risers have already climbed into their nest. The constant buzzing of cats chattering simmered down to a murmur. It was nice.

She approaches an assortment of cats that are standing together and asking to join their late patrol. Even though Dwindlingpaw was still limping, the lead was understanding and didn't make a big deal out of it. And she was relieved. If she merely sat around, her muscles wouldn't get any better.

By the time the patrol paused for a break, her limbs were sore; if she was certain she could get back up fast, she would have laid down like Orangepaw. He rolls around on the ground, attracting several curious fireflies. Dwindlingpaw approaches him purposefully brushing her tail against the grass to stir up some more. "Friends? You know these fireflies personally?" She teases, the bugs light up the cats furs with their greenish-yellow glow. "Greenleaf sure is full of surprises."

⊱⊰ The only reason that Hopepaw considers leaving camp is the combined presence of both Orangepaw and Dwindlingpaw. At least if Orangepaw is out there, then he isn’t lying helpless in the medicine den and open to being attacked at any moment. The girl is glad that she’ll get to go out to patrol the territory alongside her friend at last, so she casts a smile in Orangepaw’s direction as they head out.

The patrol makes a stop near the Great Sycamore, and her gaze trails up the towering tree’s boughs. The quickly-fading light of the sky hardly shows through the branches, but flitting about the grass at the patrol’s paws are a number of small insects that make the ground below seem much brighter than the sky above. The thought makes her nose wrinkle, an amused huff leaving her mouth, and she turns in a slow circle to appreciate the way the little fireflies dart around, gently glowing. Dwindlingpaw questions Orangepaw’s use of friends to describe the bugs, and the pale-furred girl speaks at last. "Of course he does," she breathes, copper eyes shining in the firefly-glow light that surrounds them. "Orangepaw is friends with everyone." Dwindlingpaw’s remark about the season gives her pause—this is her first greenleaf, and so far it has been unexpected. These fireflies are one of the best parts about the hot weather.

Her gaze returns to the ginger tabby, who lies on his back in the grass. He seems content, giggling as the bugs land on his face, but why is he lying down, anyway? Hopepaw approaches him cautiously, corners of her muzzle downturned into a small sort of frown. "How is your leg feeling?" She asks, her voice hushed. She doesn’t want to draw too much attention to the other apprentice’s injury, but still she worries for him. What if he isn’t strong enough to make it back to camp? Concern simmers low beneath the surface, but the roiling waves of kindness in her expression are hopefully enough to conceal it.

There were visitors, tonight ... another blessing, an assurance that they would all be alright, Thundergleam was sure of it.

She too adored the night, and the gentle light of the kindly moon... she did not burn quite as much as the sun did. Her light was a silky caress, and bathed the world in a gentle veil that spared her of squinting. At night, she found peace in observing the sky, and the sky was repaying her today. And everyone else ... the rest of ThunderClan, many whom were emerging from dens to gaze. Orangepaw's often-gleeful eyes were alight with these sparkling visitors. It warmed Thundergleam's heart to see this little congregation of apprentices, come to admire.

Orangepaw is friends with everyone, remarked Hopepaw to Fadingpaw, and Thundergleam laughed gently. Her ear flicked toward the ginger apprentice, and she regarded him with kindly eyes and a gentle blink of greeting. "What do they whisper to you?" There might be signs in their waltzes- did Orangepaw have the talent to look for them?

Softsight finds joy in the fact that Orangepaw can expend so much of his love to the little things in life, as he is doing now, admiring the fireflies. Hopepaw comments that Orangepaw has the ability to befriend anything, and the albino can't help but agree - it was a small pleasure, for someone so positive to have been able to keep that positivity with them despite everything that he had shouldered over the moons. Once, Softsight might have questioned why Roaringsun had been so quick to make friends with the younger tom - now, she'd had plenty of answers to her question.

Softsight glances around as Hopepaw inquires about Orangepaw's leg, taking a moment to take in the sights of the night forest for herself. Fireflies dipped and tumbled near the patches of brush that spattered the surrounding area, blinking on and off in their own little language, talking to one another. A part of herself that Softsight marked as childish wondered if the fireflies were just as enraptured with the cats as the cats were with the fireflies, if they were having conversations similar.
