ThunderClan's medicine cat apprentice, Hopepaw is a rather quiet and withdrawn girl. She was born in ThunderClan to Leopardtongue, who died soon after her birth, and Batwing, who gave his life to save the clan before getting to meet his unborn kits. Her name was given to her by Gentlestorm, the tom who she refers to as her uncle, although in truth she sees him as something closer than that—a father figure, if such a relation wasn't forbidden to Gentlestorm.

Despite being a rather quiet girl, there is a sureness to Hopepaw's steps that speaks of a strong will and an unbreakable spirit. She is stubborn and oftentimes standoffish, but can be a gentle caretaker when she finds it necessary. She stands rigid and stiff whenever she ventures outside of camp, a newfound sense of paranoia leading her to worry constantly about her friends and family. Her voice is quiet and slow, meandering like a brook between her sentences.

A willowy, stork-legged thing, Hopepaw's disproportionate body is poorly disguised by a thick coat of fur. While her siblings all bear some sort of resemblance to their parents, she stands out, distinctly different in appearance—her fur falls in pale lilac waves, curling about her form like haloed sunlight. Her eyes, deep copper and nearly always narrowed slightly, are easy to get lost in the depths of.

SCARS.
A large, forked scar running vertically across her right eye. A scar that cuts across her muzzle, leaving some of her teeth permanently exposed. Both earned from Coyotecrown.

When she first became an apprentice, Hopepaw was obsessed with the thrill of battle, and loved the idea of standing up for herself only in the most brutal, straightforward ways. Her kithood had been a tumultuous one filled with blunt, rude remarks and tired, unimpressed glares—and of course, it had been filled with roughhousing with her siblings, which carried over into her early apprenticeship. But after Skyclaw's takeover, Hopepaw has come to terms with the idea of strength coming from places that aren't purely physical. She has made peace with the idea of being a protector rather than a fighter, and she displays a newfound care for each of her clanmates. Still, beneath her protectiveness lurks a strong sense of unease, a paranoia that makes it difficult for her to trust certain clanmates and makes her cling to others like they'll disappear if she lets go.

Hopepaw has a strong sense of loyalty to both her clan and her family, believing that her kin can do no wrong. She is willing to stand up for her siblings or mother against any threat, and would not hesitate to lie to cover for them.

• Hopepaw is an avid listener with a love for learning. For the most part she is content to stay back and await her mentor's orders, but she also doesn't hesitate to ask questions if she is curious. She is an observant apprentice, absorbing new knowledge from everything that she sees.

• From her kithood, Hopepaw has displayed naturally heightened physical strength; however, she has not honed her battle skills as much as a warrior apprentice, and relies on brute force when sparring or fighting. COMBAT. An untrained opponent, but one who can hold her own while aiding clanmates in battle.

Open to: injury
Closed to: being teamed up on (without pre-plotting), maiming, death

Tall and lanky, with plenty of lean muscle packed onto her limbs. Average skill level, little formal training but blessed with natural strength. Fights on instinct and doesn't have any proper fighting form or specific battle moves to fall back on. Not a huge threat on a battlefield, but can certainly hold her own.

Aims to keep opponents away from her while she darts in to drag injured warriors out of battle, or simply keep enemies at bay. Will not start fights, but will not run unless she is outnumbered or clearly outmatched. Not opposed to fighting apprentices or younger cats if they attack her first.

Hopepaw will attempt to use her brute strength to knock opponents away from her in battle. This does not mean that she has to be successful though! I write battles very aggressively, but I won't get upset if your character dodges hits, etc. I want us both to be satisfied with the results of the battle, so feel free to DM me if there's a certain way you'd like for it to pan out!

Please note that I will not roll for attacks/damage/etc. Almost all attacks will land on my characters (unless I'm avoiding certain injuries), and I take my characters' strengths, weaknesses, & experience into account during fights.​
