camp BREATHING FIRE ★ SEPTEMBER MEETING

〕Per Gentlestorm's request, she had taken a couple days to recover from the long trip to the Highstones. It killed her to not hold the meeting right away, knowing the clanmates that were named awful things by Skyclaw still bore those names...but nobody used those names anyways. She hadn't used those names once. While she rested, she had taken the time to think about what she would name the apprentices that were becoming warriors today, and who would mentor who. With the large loss of warriors, it had been difficult to decide on mentor reassignments, but she had figured it out.

As she stood upon the Highrock, she watched as her clanmates turned to gaze up at her. It pained her to see them all scarred, their pelts plastered with herbs, yet they all looked so determined to return their home to its former glory. Thunderclan will survive. She felt a rush of pride wash over her, and she let out the call that Howlingstar had said many times. "All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather below Highrock for a clan meeting."

Most of the clan had already gathered by the time her words carried throughout the camp, but she waited a few moments before beginning. Her gaze lingered on the warriors that Skyclaw had named...she couldn't let them carry those burdens any longer. "Vilefury, Antlerpoison, Carrionshriek, and Doecry...please step forward." Saying their names felt like vile on her tongue. Her ear twitched, a tell that she clearly felt uncomfortable calling them that. "Spirits of StarClan, you know every cat by name. I ask you now to take away the names from the cats you see before you, for they were named unjustly. By my authority as Clan leader, and with the approval of our warrior ancestors, I give each of these cats a new name. From this moment on Antlerpoison will return to Anterbreeze, and Doecry to Doepath." She paused, a smile forming on her maw as the sisters were given back their Howlingstar given names.

"Tigerpaw and Roaringpaw, please join Softpaw and Vixenpaw." Had Tigerpaw not been captured, she would have been a warrior many moons ago. She was sure Batwing was watching down with pride towards his former apprentice. It seemed like a lifetime ago that they had found Tigerpaw alone in the forest, and brought her back to be raised by Tansyshine. Roaringpaw had fought fiercely in the battle. No matter what Skyclaw and his followers had once thought about him, he was far from the kittypet he had once been. Looking down at him now, there wasn't a shred of a formerly spoiled life clinging to him anymore...he looked just as forest born as the rest of them. She had been concerned about Howlingstar's decision at first, but she had made the right choice. Roaringpaw was a loyal clanmate through and through.

"I, Flamestar, leader of Thunderclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on these apprentices. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend them to you as a warrior in their turn. Softpaw, Vixenpaw, Tigerpaw, and Roaringpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

a longhaired red tabby with low white and green eyes. flamewhisker's fur is a vibrant hue of red, riddled with thick classic tabby markings. her fur is medium in length, and she has a large, feathery tail. her chest, belly, tail tip, and her paws are dipped white. flamewhisker's eyes are a dark, deep shade of green. her shoulder has a large scar on it from a fight with a dog. she also has a shredded ear from a disagreement with a loner during her time alone before joining thunderclan. on particularly cold days, or sometimes before a major weather change, she will walk with a slight limp from her shoulder injury.

To have his name called is an unexpected surprise, to be honest. He was not twelve moons yet, just shy of it — but he hadn't expected to receive his new name until next month. The name Roaringpaw had been bestowed upon him by Howlingstar shortly after his arrival, and it was a final memento of hers to him, now. He wore it with pride as he stepped forward, brushing his pelt against Softpaw's in comforting support.

Carrionshriek was something he refused to call her. It was far too disgusting, and didn't reflect her in the slighest. She'd been the start of it all — the first to teach him anything relating to wildlife ( although it was as simple as climbing down a tree ), his first friend in ThunderClan. He'd worried for her safety during his exile, and to see she's doing well was a relief.

He stands proud in the center of the clearing. All the anguish, pain and anxiety gone from his figure as his pelt glimmers underneath the sunshine. Fiery determination glints in his eyes. Despite everything, I made it. He wishes Howlingstar had been here to see it. The apprentice gazes up at Flamestar, and after clearing his throat, speaks with conviction: I do.

Wildheart strained his left eye open so he could gaze upon Flamestar with both eyes. At last a true leader stood upon High Rock, and the next step towards the clan's recovery began. The calico moved away from the medicine den as he heeded the call and he picked a place to settle in the crowd so he could listen to the ceremonies as they took place. He allowed a smile to grace his features as she started to unravel the damage dealt by Skyclaw by restoring the names of Antlerbreeze and Doepath. His attention shifted towards that of Tigerpaw in particular as he became curious about what her new warrior name would be.

Stormywing sits near the back of the crowd, her golden eyes narrowed as Flamestar takes her rightful place on Highrock. The new leader's words wash over her like rainfall, though her ears catch every name, every detail. It should have been a day to celebrate, a day for the clan to come together and heal after Skyclaw's tyranny. And yet, all Stormywing can think about is Wrath-howl, his fate here in the clan. She flicks her tail irritably, but her gaze softens as she spots Roaringpaw stepping forward among the other apprentices, his golden fur gleaming in the sunlight. He had fought bravely, proved himself again and again. She is proud of him - he had shed the last of his kittypet past, just as she had many moons ago. But a pang of bitterness hits her chest, ever-unable to remain joyous. Pebblestep had also proven that he was no longer his past. But Wrath-howl and his friends didn’t care. It’s their fault he’s not here now, sitting beside her, cheering on the new warriors. Her claws dig into the earth, a quiet growl rumbling in her throat. She glances at Wildheart seated not too far from her. She wonders what her friend must be thinking - he’d mentored the murderer, after all.

The ceremonies begin, and she forces herself to watch, to listen as Flamestar renames the cats who had carried Skyclaw's cruelty with them. Stormywing's heart swells with a flicker of hope as Antlerbreeze and Doepath reclaim their true names. Maybe things can get better. Maybe the clan can heal.

But healing didn't mean forgetting. And it sure as hell didn't mean forgiving.

As Flamestar moves on to the apprentices, calling Roaringpaw and the others to take their oaths, Stormywing lets out a slow breath and watches in silence to see what they’ll all be named.

Seeing Flamestar standing upon that great rock brought a mix of grief and relief washing over Roeflame. The fiery molly in her rightful place restored a sense of normalcy, the absence of her predecessors brown tabby pelt brought a bitter reminder of all the tragedy.

As Flamestar makes her announcement, Roeflame is already picking her way through the crowd with Dovepaw at her side, Roeflame’s personal beacon of hope and healing as they’d formally begin their training soon enough. They would eventually settle next to Stormywing, though Roeflame keeps an eye out for Burnstorms arrival with Beetlepaw and Coalpaw.

Roeflame watches as the four branded warriors make their way to the front, thankful for Flamestars prompt rectification. They had been bearing those symbolic scars for far too long. As Tigerpaw and Roaringpaw join their two denmates, Roeflame spares a glance in her friends direction, who she had missed so dearly. Stormywings expression is guarded, and Roeflame would aim to briefly place her forepaw over the others alabaster, offering a small smile in solidarity. True ThunderClan will always survive.

Though her well-earned place among the ranks of ThunderClan's warriors has been restored, bitterness still clouds Silversun's mind. After all the moons she had fed and fought for these cats, some of them had still seen fit to toss her aside like spoiled prey. And now she's returned to find that in her absence, Skyclaw had turned the Clan Silversun was so proud to be a part of into a gang of rogues, and he had the gall to think he was better than her? Than cats like Stormywing or Roaringpaw? Than the cats they murdered? They were the soft ones, not her. Spoiled without the tests of loyalty expected of former kittypets. Perhaps, if pure-blooded apprentices were held to the same standards as we were, this wouldn't have happened. Internally, she flinches from the resentful thought, but the sentiment clings like a burr in her thick pelt.

As much as it still stings her pride, it's all in the past now. Antlerbreeze and Doepath's names are restored, and Softpaw and Vixenpaw are preparing to receive proper Clan names, nobler names than the wretched things Skyclaw had given them. And Roaringpaw is finally receiving his hard-earned name. Silversun doesn't smile, but her glowing acknowledgement of his triumph shows through her eyes.

Carrionshriek had taken on the burden of the name that Skyclaw had cursed her with with a determination that one day she'd receive a proper name, one like Softsong, as Gentlestorm had taken to calling her in lieu of the name that Skyclaw had given. She didn't know if the name would be as sweet as Gentlestorm's intent had been, but she knew that any name given properly under Flamestar with StarClan's approval would be better that Carrionshriek, a mockery of who she had been under Skyclaw's reign.

When Flamestar calls her up alongside her sister, Roaringpaw, and Tigerpaw, Carrionshriek steps forward with a certain anticipation. She looks to Roaringpaw at her side, and offers the tom a smile that could reassure both herself or him, and then she looks back up to Flamestar, who is expecting an answer from her and her fellow apprentices.

"I do." Carrionshriek - no, Softpaw once more, for now - says.

The sound of Flamestar's voice is a reassuring one... a reminder of stability to come and normalcy's return. She had plenty of sour words to offer Gentlestorm upon his return with her from the Moonstone but it didn't change her joy for the fiery she-cat's ascension. As irritated as she was with the battered medicine cat, it hadn't stopped her from stumbling to sit up and asking after his help to shuffle towards the entrance of his den. "Don't give me that look," she mews with an amused exasperation, limping with the gray hound-wiry fur to lean against. "It's fine- I'm just slow..." The sting of jostling movements lacking fluidity goes unspoken beyond the quiet grit of teeth.

It comes as a great relief to be among the first tended to by the star-dusted she-cat- she doesn't bother trying to disperse herself from the crowd, figuring that she stands out plenty from her spot near Gentlestorm. She begs of StarClan a favor of forgetting... to banish the cruel identity cast upon so many of them and be remembered by names more fitting. Doepath feels like a refreshing breath... something so welcome she practically sags under the release. "Thank you..." goes whispered, not wishing to interrupt the ceremonies of freedom for her peers who'd similarly suffered. Antlerbreeze must feel some kind of catharsis... to be given back the name of her mentor. To no longer be named after something so violent and sinister.

Her ears perk as Softpaw and Vixenpaw (their real names) are summoned too, alongside Tigerpaw and Roaringpaw... What good fortune would be granted to them, what future had Flamestar woven into their lives with the names she'd chosen? Softwhisker? Vixentail? She realizes in her pondering that she isn't terribly good at coming up with names herself- her tail curls around her paws delicately, resting a scarred wrist into the plushness.

( 𖤓 ) it is a relief and a blessing to hear the echoing tones of flamewhisker - now flamestar - upon the highrock once again. gone is the growling voice of skyclaw, traitor king of rats, replaced by a calming, motherly tone. the vocals of the rightful queen, regal atop her throne. basilpaw attends the meeting beside his siblings, pressing between wolfpaw and merlinpaw as if to both give and seek comfort. something like a grateful sob scratches at his throat at the sight of every lost clanmate now returned, and while he does not let it escape, he allows himself one breath, a shaky one, and turns his gaze to the sky. "thank you, howlingstar," he will murmur softly, beneath his breath as flamestar begins her speech.

bright eyes follow the forest queen's gaze, watching as four wretchedly named warriors pad forth. vilefury, antlerpoison, carrionshriek, doecry. all names basilpaw has never once uttered. names only snarled from the sick maws of skyclaw's traitors. flamestar strips the four cats of their haunting monickers, replacing antlerbreeze and doepath's rightful names. she then calls tigerpaw and roaringpaw to join softpaw and vixenpaw. excitement thrills in basilpaw's belly - the idea of a warrior ceremony igniting a fire within his form that warms him from the inside out. cats so deserving of praise must receive truly glorious names. bright eyes watch carefully, waiting for the moment to cheer.

[ ༻ ☼ ༺ ] When seeing Flamestar upon the highrock Fadingpaw felt a mixture of happiness and sadness. Happiness for seeing the rightful chosen to take Howlingstar's place being up there to sadness as Howlingstar would never be the the one to stand upon the highrock to gather the clan for a meeting once more.

The girl listened intently to what Flamestar had to say, first being that Antlerbreeze and Doepath were renamed back to the name that Howlingstar had blessed them with in the beginning to calling upon a few apprentices from the crowd knowing that they will be getting their warrior names this time around. A soft hum coming from the apprentice as her gaze drifted to the ones called upon.

There was a slight nervous twinge as she wondered who'd she be reassigned to, even if she knew Flamestar will choose wisely in it the girl couldn't help it. Her last mentor had lead a coup of cats to trap the clan in its own confinement and even if she hadn't agreed to what Skyclaw had done she wondered if her clanmates wouldn't see past that. Even if they seemed to brush past the knowledge she had been under his watchful eyes the girl still felt anxious that maybe... just maybe she too would turn out to be just like him one day, and she prayed she would not become like him. Blue gaze locking onto Flamestar as she awaited for the meeting to continue not realizing she was fidgeting in her place.

the months ticked away while she was gone, and time became a spiral of days, confusion masking her face. shed managed to piece it together- seventeen moons. five moons ago, she would've been made a warrior. and just a bit longer than five moons ago, batwing left her behind, sacrificing himself to save his clan. it didn't feel like that long ago, it was still there in her memory like yesterday.

her form sauntered carefully out of the den. so far, feeling much better- but not enough to try to argue with gentlestorm on leaving the den more often. maybe she was just enjoying the company of her clanmates after the many restless nights she endured. she took her spot next to Tansyshine, or as close as she could get. her form rasping a tongue over her chest and trying to flatten down the fur- and her uneasiness.

green eyes finally moved up to Flamestar in her place on the rock, wondering so curiously, what it felt like to be so high, and if she felt as weird to be up there after howlingstar took lead for so long. Flamestar is so deserving of it, she's worked hard. She nodded with her own thoughts softly, a gentle smile forming on a scarred face.

the horrible names given to her clanmates she had found out about were finally being replaced, and she pondered just how long they had to deal with such. antlerpoison was renamed back to antlerbreeze, and doe cry was returned to doepath. then there was carrionshriek and vilefury, their names returning to -paw, ever so graciously their looks crossing their face.

and among them- oh! Oh, she was supposed to go up there! Her ears perked, and her form rised to move forward a soft purr escaping her chest as her paws seeked the path to the rock proudly, her head held high in excitement while her steps felt like they could skip- if it weren't for her limp in her hind leg, and her avoidance of using her front leg. (How awkward this walk was).

She would settle her form back down as she sat beside roaringpaw, eyes gleaming towards her friend upon the rock. "I do," she said, almost shaking in excitement.

Flamestar had returned, and Raccoonstripe watches her ascend her rightful place on the Highrock with heavy eyes. He will never not see the shadow of his mother behind the ginger tabby — he will never let go of the sound of her voice, the echo of her command, the way her face had lit with joy when kits had scampered toward the front of the crowd, the calm way her muzzle had settled against her chest when naming new warriors. She is an imprint on his heart, now, a shadow that he cannot outrun. She is in his blood, and as he bows his head to his new leader, he feels her fur swish against his, her voice in his ear.

Raccoonstripe's ears flick as the renamed cats begin to move forward. Flamestar strips them of the cruel monikers Skyclaw had given them. Relief like a raw wound begins to throb in his stomach. It will be like the Clan is healing, even as the warm seasons leaves us.

The tabby is quiet as the apprentices step forward, ready to be anointed by their new leader, to be recognized for their courage at facing the venom that had infected their Clan for so long.

I don't know what part I have in this, he thinks tiredly, but I'm still here. I'm still here.

༄.𖥔 ݁ ˖ — Gentlestorm allows for Doepath to lean against him for support as they make their way carefully towards the meeting, he settles down beside her as his ears angle forward to listen to the words that leave Flamestar's jaws and he can't help but feel a faint smile tugging at the sides of his mouth. His red tabbied friend fixes the wrong that Skyclaw had brought forth onto the clan as Antlerpoison and Doecry are given the names that had been given to them by Howlingstar. The silver tom gives the molly that leans against her a careful nudge but focuses onto the rest of the meeting knowing that a few of the apprentices would be graduating today and stand guard tonight.

The large healer returns his attention once more to Flamestar wondering what names Softpaw, Roaringpaw, Vixenpaw, and Tigerpaw would recieve... He casts his gaze to the sky for a heartbeat pondering if Batwing watches as his former apprentice becomes a warrior today. He wishes that the blue smoke could've been amongst the crowd knowing that he would've cheered the loudest but Gentlestorm would simply sit in his place for now and congratulate Tigerpaw whenever his voice returned to him.

Flamestar. A name ringing with hope, and yet sadness both... grief sung in the tones that weaved it, every time it was spoken. For Flamestar to exist, Howlingstar was truly, truly dead- undeniably. And part of Thundergleam still could not believe it- that those kind, verdant eyes would never gaze upon her again. Despite the honour she knew to reside in Flamestar's heart, a fragment of her soul would always cling to the memory of Howlingstar. A cat who trusted her, despite it all... who knew StarClan as well as she, who loved ThunderClan wholeheartedly.

Pale eyes lifted to the brand of fire, as she addressed her new Clan. If Flamestar would to look at her, she would certainly find belief there. To carry a name like hers, one had to be anointed by StarClan ... accepted, prophecied, as ThunderClan's true leader. White lashes fluttered, as if glimmering tears dotted her waterline. But this was a good day. The gash Skyclaw had carved in ThunderClan's soul would be sewn anew, and they would flourish ... daffodils would grow from the dirt and turn their heads to the sun.

And the Sun was before them, green-eyed and noble-voiced. Carrionshriek, Antlerpoison, Vilefury and Doecry were washed clean of their bloodstained names, and given back their justly-given titles, their true warrior names that held the melody of the spirit and soul within them. Apprentices, too... a host! Softpaw, Vixenpaw, torn of cruelty... Roaringpaw and Tigerpaw, ready to claim what they had been trained for.

It would be a good day, today. The sun shines because of you, Howlingstar.

〕The four apprentices stepped forward, each baring a combination of pride, excitement, and determination in their gazes. Her throat felt tight for a moment as she watched down at them. These were her first warrior names that she would assign out of many. Each of them had trained so hard to get to this moment. Softpaw and Vixenpaw had a ceremony by a false leader, and Tigerpaw had been captured by twolegs before she could have received her warrior name many moons ago. Roaringpaw had been sent away with a good number of their clanmates, but with how he fought for his clan, he was ready to become a warrior. I'm so proud of them all. "Then by the powers of Starclan, I give you your warrior names."

Her gaze settled on the fluffy alabaster she-cat first. "Softpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Softsight. StarClan honors your kindness and compassion, and we welcome you as a full warrior of Thunderclan." Next she turned to the black and white figure standing beside her sister. Whitelion and Spiderlily must be beaming with pride. She recalled the day her two kits had received their warrior names...silent tears had been shed that day. "Vixenpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Vixencrown. StarClan honors your thoughtfulness and skill, and we welcome you as a full warrior of Thunderclan." Green orbs shift to Tigerpaw next. So many moons had passed since she and Batwing had found her at the base of a tree, brought to Thunderclan by her mother who had passed away after leaving her. She recalled fondly the time she had spent playing games with her while she stayed in the nursery, telling her stories of the great clans, and listening to Tigerpaw tell her everything she had learned from Batwing's teachings. She lifted her gaze to the sky for a brief moment, knowing her former mentor was watching down on this moment, just as he would be for his own kit's when they received their warrior names. "Tigerpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Tigerwing. StarClan honors your loyalty and your spirit, and we welcome you as a full warrior of Thunderclan." Lastly, she rested her gaze upon Roaringpaw. He had trained under Leafhusk, and even though he had been sent away for his protection, he had returned a blazing figure of determination. He hadn't let the time apart from his clan squish any of his loyalty. Howlingstar would be proud of the young tom that she had allowed to join all those moons ago. "Roaringpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Roaringsun. StarClan honors your courage and determination, and we welcome you as a full warrior of Thunderclan."

Her gaze gleamed pridefully as she listened to her clanmates chant the new warrior's names. I hope they like their names. She had thought long and carefully about each of them until she was determined they were the right fit. The leader gave her clanmates a few more moments to finish their chanting, before beginning again. "Coltkit, Spiderkit, and Myrtlekit. You have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you each to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Coltpaw, Spiderpaw, and Myrtlepaw.

Coltpaw, your mentor will be Stormywing. I hope Stormywing will pass down all she knows on to you. Stormywing, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You have shown yourself to be dedicated and determined. You will be the mentor of Coltpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to him.
" Stormywing had trained both Fallowbite and Thundergleam, so she was sure she would train Coltpaw to be just as wonderfully as her two former apprentices. "Spiderpaw, your mentor will be Wildheart. I hope Wildheart will pass down all he knows on to you.
Wildheart, you are ready to take on another apprentice. You have shown yourself to be a loyal and brave warrior. You will be the mentor of Spiderpaw, and I hope for you to pass on all you know to him.
" While Wildheart had mentored Wrathpaw, she did not believe he had anything to do with Wrathpaw's betrayal. The bold tom had a sharp tongue for sure, but Wildheart's loyalty had never been questionable for a minute. "Myrtlepaw, your mentor will be Stagstrike. I hope Stagstrike will pass on all he knows on to you.
Stagstrike.
" She paused, looking down at the warrior. Howlingstar had not assigned him to mentor an apprentice due to him referring to himself as Tybalt. She was hesitant, but he had shown his loyalty to the clan in his attempt to poison Skyclaw. "You are ready to take on an apprentice. You have shown yourself to be an honest and loyal warrior. You will be the mentor of Myrtlepaw, and I hope you pass on all you know to her." She allowed a brief pause, for each of the mentors to touch noses with their new apprentices.

"We have many apprentices who are in need of reassigned mentors. With leaf-fall beginning, we cannot afford for their training to be postponed any longer. Scarletpaw, Mottledpaw, Orangepaw, Fadingpaw, Littlepaw, Shroudedpaw, Dwindlingpaw, and Glowingpaw, please come forward.

Scarletpaw, with Badgerstripe moving to the nursery, you will need someone to continue your training. Raccoonstripe, you are ready for another apprentice. You will carry out her training.
" Badgerstripe had asked for her to find a loyal mentor that she could trust to carry over her Scarletpaw's learning. She believed her uncle would be the perfect cat. She then turned to a white and grey figure that she had already mentioned once this meeting. "Stormywing, I believe you are capable of mentoring two apprentices. I would like for you to continue Mottledpaw's training." Skyclaw had been her apprentice. She felt no reason to remind the clan of who had been her and Fadingpaw's mentor. They had only been training together for a moon, so what had been taught could be undone. Stormywing would be the perfect mentor for her. "Leafhusk, with Roaringsun now a warrior, you are available to take on another apprentice. I am trusting you with two apprentices. You will take over Orangepaw and Fadingpaw's training." The lead warrior would bring out the best in both of them. Leafhusk was an honorable warrior, there was no doubt she could handle two apprentices. The next apprentice to be reassigned was none other than Howlingstar's apprentice, and grandkit. She should have been reassigned a long time ago, but the warriors had been taking turns co-training her. She had just the kind heart in mind to take over her training, even though he was a new mentor. "Littlepaw. Howlingstar was an amazing mentor, and even though she was not your mentor for long, I know she gave you a steady foundation to begin with. Falconheart, I would like for you to continue her training alongside Bugpaw. I know you are a first time mentor, but I believe you are ready. " Her gaze shifted next to Shroudedpaw. The young tom had already gone through two mentors prior to this. She hoped that her choice in mentor would give him the stability he had not had. "Doespring, you have proven yourself ready to take on another apprentice. I would like for you to continue Shroudedpaw's training." The leader's gaze picked out Roeflame next. Even though she was fairly fresh out of the nursery and already training Dovepaw, she believed the lead warrior would have no trouble taking another under her wing. "Roeflame, I would like for you to take over Dwindlingpaw's training. I trust you to pass on your kindness and loyalty." The next mentor she had in mind was related to the very tom they held prisoner in the medicine den. Regardless of her feelings towards Wrathpaw, Laughblossom was always a friendly face and she believed he would make a great mentor. "Glowingpaw, your new mentor will be Laughblossom."

a longhaired red tabby with low white and green eyes. flamewhisker's fur is a vibrant hue of red, riddled with thick classic tabby markings. her fur is medium in length, and she has a large, feathery tail. her chest, belly, tail tip, and her paws are dipped white. flamewhisker's eyes are a dark, deep shade of green. her shoulder has a large scar on it from a fight with a dog. she also has a shredded ear from a disagreement with a loner during her time alone before joining thunderclan. on particularly cold days, or sometimes before a major weather change, she will walk with a slight limp from her shoulder injury.

Softsight. Not Softstorm, not Softsong, but Softsight - and it felt more right than any name ever had before. It was a StarClan-given name from the mouth of a proper leader, and for the first time in a long time, the albino she-cat let out a sigh of relief. This was her name, the thing she had dreamed of since she was a kit, something that she had fantasized and theorized about for moons before its bequeathing to her now. At her sides were Vixencrown and Roaringsun, and Softsight turned to look at both of the newly-named warriors with a smile.

"Vixencrown! Roaringsun! Tigerwing!" Softsight called up to the skies, her voice clear and happy. Softsight, so that she might look forward to the future and have the foresight to help lead ThunderClan to greatness. Softsight, for her kindness and compassion. She stepped back so that the new apprentices could have their time in the limelight, and her smile remained as she called out their names, also. "Coltpaw! Spiderpaw! Myrtlepaw!"

Tybalt ambled slowly over to the group of gathered cats, settling on the edge of the crowd and gazing up at Flamestar. He purred softly as he listened to Flamestar strip the vile, Skyclaw given names and bestow her warriors with new ones. He would call out for all the newly named warriors, but he called for Softsight, Antlerbreeze, Doepath, and Vixencrown loudest of all.

He sat up straighter as his own name was called, confusion clouding his features. Had he done something wrong? And then he stood, blinking in surprise as he was named as Myrtlepaw's mentor. He hadn't had an apprentice since Emberstar had assigned him Cherrypaw, and that had been seasons ago. He would do a better job this time. Myrtlepaw would make a fine warrior. A small smile cracked his features as he touched noses with the younger cat.

Roaringsun has such a nice ring to it he beams at the name given to him by ThunderClan's new leader. He licks her shoulder like he'd seen it be done many times before as a show of respect. Mouthing a thank you to Flamestar, he steps back to stand beside Softsight — a name he figures fits her very well.

Tigerwing! Vixencrown! SOFTSIGHT! He cheers with so much joy it was like the brooding apprentice from the last couple moons hadn't existed at all. He felt like a kit again, when everything was new and exciting and a potential adventure to be had. When he sat vigil with the others tonight, he would be honoring all their fallen clanmates, as well. For Ploverhop, Morningcloud, Pebblestep, Cobwebtail, Sparrowpaw, Mousenose, Rabbitnose and Howlingstar.

Coltpaw! Myrtlepaw! Spiderpaw! He yowls for the newly-named apprentices, with a smile that hasn't left his maw since he was called forward.

a longhaired flame sepia with low white and amber-brown eyes.

🕷️ their nerves were already at an all time high before but the second flamestar bellowed for a clan-meeting it was as if someone plucked one measely twig from a dam only to for it collaspe in on itself almost immediately and watch as the water that was being held back for so long come rushing out eager to flood the rivers and forests. spiderkit almost dry-heaved from how overwhelmingly intense the feeling felt washing over them, how it made spindly limbs tremble with an ache to dive right back into the nursery and hide under the moss bedding.

but they can't, not anymore.

with a deep inhale, the lanky kitten forced his body to move and join the rest of his clanmates in assembling around the highrock where he would take his place besides his sister who's presence is an immediate comfort and help with easing the anxious bird in his heart that flapped wildly against its boney cage.

when the sunlit leader saw enough had gathered, she proceeded with the meeting and began with restoring the names to antlerbreeze, doepath, vixenpaw and softpaw so they no longer have to carry the vile titles given them by skyclaw. it is followed up with the latter two joining alongside tigerpaw and roaringpaw who are welcomed to the clan as full-fledged warriors. "softsight! vix—vixencrown! tigerwing! roa—roaringsun!" his chants are a little more quieter, easily drowned out the much louder voices that rippled through the crowd.

soon enough the spotlight falls upon them as flamestar calls out his name, no longer is he known as spiderkit but spiderpaw. the chants that surround him make him duck his head shyly, a small smile curling at the corners of his maw. they would've forgotten the part where they're supposed to be touching noses with their mentor right now if not for the light nudge given to him by a nearby warrior sending the kid to scramble through the crowd in order to reach wildheart to fufill that part.

the anger was swept away when she seemed to wake up. not physically, but mentally. the horror in her eyes hasn't left, they still felt heavy. never had she killed someone, never had she stood before a pit of murdered cats and felt so lost- like she belonged there too.

but here she was, standing alongside her clanmates and feeling... guilt. she never knew that guilt clawed at someone so much deeper than an injury gentlestorm pried to heal. a waste of herbs, but she kept that thought to herself, blinking almost blindly as he treated her. her gaze was lost in a trance off in the distance.

vilefury. oh how well that name fit her so well, but the time was finally up to stop herself from demeaning herself. it was not something she was used to. she always carried herself in high confidence, but how long did it take of standing in water, staring at her scarred reflection, watching the blood- sleekserpents blood, slowly pull off of her. how long did she sit in that water and believe she deserved this mark upon her face to mark the worst deed she ever committed?

the way her gaze gently moved to badgerstripe, who seemed so sullen since the fight. to barleysight, who seemed even more indifferent. would they ever look at vilefury the same? or was she just that- a monster?

she almost didn't hear her name called by flamestar as she began the meeting, the call suddenly making her blink back to a hazy present. she heard her sister beside her say the words, and her head would snap up, replacing her face with a mask, a gentle smile, while her blue gaze remained distant. "I do," she would respond finally cuing in to the meeting.

softsight. Kindness and compassion. A beautiful name... Just as my sister deserves. A genuine smile bore upon her maw as she cast her sister a look to express all the emotions in her heart at that moment.

Then Flamestar was before her. (Wow, she was big- has she ever seemed this big? Or is she only just noticing? Has she ever even stood this close to her?) Her shoulders straightened from the slump, her head dipping slightly in respect. And then her name was given. Vixencrown. Thoughtfulness and Skill . silent tears threatened to bubble from her blue eyes, suddenly feeling relief flood from her shoulders, and she leaned forward to lick the orange tabbies shoulder, pulling back into such a relieved position, one would think Flamestar took it all from her bones.

For now, she was relieved. But the guilt would claw its way back up soon. For she had a long silent night of vigil, and she would use it wisely and respectfully.

Tigerpaw became tigerwing, and roaringpaw roaringsun. And Flamestar beamed in pride as she stood back. And as the chanting began, so too would she chant, her voice a chorus compared to the awful dagger it had felt against her throat. "Antlerbreeze! Doepath! Softsight! Roaringsun!"

Shed bump her head gently against her sisters shoulder as they pulled back to let the kits come forward, to be named apprentices and assigned mentors. And as those names changed, she too would call their names loudly.
