PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Of all his features, the most distinguishing is, of course, the bone-white marking which cuts across his face. It accentuates the sharp curves of his facial structure, particularly his cheeks, and reaches a jagged peak between his eyes. Down his maw, the marking seems to form a silhouette of teeth, such that even while close-lipped, he has the appearance of baring his fangs. Given the stark contrast between alabaster and rubicund fur, it is no wonder that the queens Myrtletail and Smallbloom thought to name him so...sanguinely.

Due to a runtish kittenhood, Flayedpaw is slightly smaller than the average apprentice, with a bird-bone quality to his frame and limbs. However, the breadth of his paws suggests that a growth spurt may visit him later (or perhaps he will simply have larger paws). Knitted over each knobby joint is a pelt caught between bristling and lying flat; around his scruff and head, his fur is stubbornly prickly, and no amount of grooming can convince it to smoothen (much to his caretakers' dismay). His tabby markings are, in a way, a more subtle shadow of what lies beneath. His stripes bracket his sides in the silhouette of his ribs, and his white-tipped paws are not so far removed from this skeletal motif either.

For all that Flayedpaw is quite assertive (even to the point of arrogance), he is still very much a young tom who cares for his clanmates. He is a fire that intends to warm, but is equally prone to causing injury, even without meaning to. He hasn't learned how to hold his tongue very well, particularly when he's passionately convinced of something; his own rules and gut-instincts do not always follow convention, and he isn't keen on remaining quiet when his internal beliefs butt heads with external factors. This is especially exacerbated by oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), which will most often rear its head in the context of his apprenticeship, as this is a situation wherein he will have the most exposure to the expression of authority. Commands and the mere expectation of obedience will very likely result in an angry outburst, which can manifest in a multitude of ways, including vehement arguments and an outright refusal to comply. This does not preclude kindness, but it may be difficult to see his compassionate nature, which can be overshadowed by ODD.

Outside of that particular setting, he is not so thoughtlessly brazen as he may seem. Flayedpaw is often introspective (perhaps even broody) and prefers to avoid charging in headfirst without planning ahead.
