CRIME AND PUNISHMENT \ riverclan trespassers

I FIND COMFORT IN THE SOUND AND THE SHAPE OF THE HEART ⋆⁺₊⋆

Petalnose had suddenly turned to face the other, though she was not aware that he was closer than she thought. She didn't have enough time to dodge, so the thunderclanner was now on her back. Her balance staggered and she winced at the feeling of claws. She tripped finally after trying to catch her balance for so long, if he was larger she’d be smashed to the ground immediately but the shorter body untop of her long legs still made her fight balance. As soon as she fell she aimed to swiftly alligator roll and get out of his grasp. She knew it would only make his claws rip down her hind limbs more but she'd rather be standing then pinned. Her strengths in battle were better on her paws. If she got loose, she would aim to shove him down to the ground in return, digging her claws in his shoulders and raking them down.

Despite her injuries, she was still enjoying the thrill, seemingly unbothered by them. Adrenaline pumped through her, though surely they'll hurt after it wore off. She was excited to have her first enemy fight after her memory loss. The satisfaction was better than a spar. Claws were more involved and it was life or death. Careful thought to moves that had to quickly be chosen. Mistakes had harsh consequences. It was beautiful.

She was wandering not too far by her mentor @OWLEAR 's side when she heard the loud cauterwauling of cats inevitably locked in battle. The fur along her spine tingled and she rushed forward to help support the rest of the patrol. Her nose twitched. RiverClan! Why couldn't they get it through their soft fish-brains that this territory was ThunderClan's? ThunderClan had fought and defend it. It was theirs. Stormpaw was young. She could not remember a life without the Sunningrocks, being only a newly minted apprentice when the battle was fought.

She would not let them take it away from them. She lingered by the edge, ready to spring—to show these river-creatures where they ought to belong, but she waited for an older cat to guide her. "Should we get reinforcements?" She whispered, eyes round. "Howlingstar must know!"

( ) The cries of battle were some that she was beginning to become all too familiar with. When she had first joined the clan many moons ago, they hadn't fought until the border skirmish that had slain Morningpaw. Now, it seemed they were constantly fighting. She couldn't understand why the other clans were so greedy, and why they couldn't stick to the newest addition to the Warrior Code...their leader had agreed to it after all.

She had been battle training with Cloudypaw nearby when they heard the yowls. "Looks like we'll get to test out those moves for real." she would say, before motioning for her apprentice to follow her. She wasn't sure what was going on, but judging from the direction that it was coming from, Riverclan had something to do with it.

As they crashed through the undergrowth, and came to the scene, she was partially surprised to her her daughter and her mentor. Should we get reinforcements? Flamewhisker nodded, "Go tell Howlingstar what's going on." she said, quickly touching her nose to Stormpaw's forehead. She was almost positive they could successfully chase them away now, but if she could keep her kit away from this then she would. The fur along her spine prickled as she returned her attention to the battle. "Owlear, Cloudypaw, help out whoever needs help. Keep an eye on Sunfreckle, we don't want his kits to get hurt." She would do her best to watch as well...he was pregnant, he shouldn't be fighting.

Unsheathing her claws, she spotted just the cat she wanted to attack...the one shoving her mate into the ground. The flame hued warrior hissed, and barreled towards the other she-cat. She would run towards Petalnose, then leap at her with extended claws, attempting to push her off of Flycatcher. If successful, she would attempt to grab ahold of her shoulder with her teeth.

Reactions: Petalnose

ThunderClan went into battle and though part of him regretted inciting it the other was tired of talking. They had reports of RiverClan doing this once before and if it was anything like ShadowClan then asking nicely just wasn't going to cut it; ThunderClan was not some clan to be taken advantage of and he would be damned if he allowed that to happen. All he can think about is how angry he is, his kits and his clanmates having to constantly compete just to get by and even within their own bramble walls they weren't safe from those who would persecute them for simply trying to survive. A long time ago he might have preferred a mediation, but the cat who lived then would not have survived out here for very long and he knew it.

It was good someone was worried about Sunfreckle's wellbeing because he no longer was, he was furious and when Badgerstrike got the second warrior attacking him off of him (though not before the brute tore his shoulder) he was still charging at Aspenhaze. The other stands after the, admittedly, clumsy attempt to toss them but it does not dissuade the red tabby from continuing his attack and he lunges to try and pin the spotted cat down under his weight to pummel with his lone forepaw, his usual fighting tactic of just abusing the fact he was almost twice the size of most cats.

Aspenhaze wasn’t taken off guard this time by being rushed again, but they didn’t have enough time to gather themself before they’re pinned to the ground. They had no idea why this cat was so fixated on them, what did they do that was so egregious? Either way, they didn’t particularly care; their brain was in overdrive at the rough closeness, and their brain was screaming at them to do something about it.

There’s not much thought behind it, honestly their brain is too clouded right now to really process anything save for the danger right in front of them, but their instinct is to raise their back paw and kick Sunfreckle in the stomach, the most sensitive place which would guarantee their escape if anything will. And when they kick, they kick HARD. As soon as the opportunity arises, they scramble out from under him, backing away as quickly as possible.

Her fangs don't make contact, but her claws do and that's good enough for her. They dig into Wolfglade as she plans to rip them down his shoulder, but he latches onto her leg and starts pulling her to the water. She halts her attempt to shred his shoulder. She has a new plan in mind now, one that could probably kill her if it goes wrong but isn't that always a risk in battle? All it really takes is a well placed hit to kill someone, no matter how tough they are.

"YOU WANNA GO FOR A SWIM, DO YOU!?"

She reached to grip his scruff in her maw.

"THEN LETS GO FOR A SWIM, DARLIN'."

With her brute strength, she would try to shove wolfglade towards the water, their now shared destination. Drowning a cat was easy, and she figured using their beloved river against them would be a nice blow to their ego.

It was from the corner of her eye that she saw Aspenhaze kick at Sunfreckle's stomach, and it filled her with dread for only an instant before it was washed over with the blackest, most primal hatred and wrath she'd ever felt. She doubled her efforts to shove Wolfglade into the water.

(( @WOLFGLADE She is trying to grip his scruff while her claws are still in his shoulder to shove him into the water! we r havin a pool party))

When Owlear thinks of Sunningrocks, it is with no small measure of guilt. He cannot say that he regrets the battle. It was for the best that they claimed the rocks, and they most certainly deserved them after all they had done. But he thinks about the cat that he had harmed, and the faces that had looked upon them with hate and disgust at every meeting since. Battle should not be on their mind now. They should recover, enjoy their lush rivers and the boon of newleaf while it lasted. Instead, they come here again. They threaten ThunderClan, his clan, his home as they had fought for this place.

It is not often that Owlear feels angry, but today....today, he does. He is not as fast as he had once been in life. Though his apprentice's suggestion and his own following thought lance anxiety through his chest, the senior warrior fights to keep his face impassive. He ducks low, crouched tensely, his olive eyes fixed on the battle before them. "Yes. Go. Go, Stormpaw, as quickly as you can. Tell her that we will need as many warriors as she can find to flush these leeches out for good."

──── owlear. senior warrior of thunderclan. cis male.
──── approximately 90 moons old, yet still youthful.
──── pansexual and single,   though with past flings.

──── a chocolate tabby with long, thick fur and a broad-shouldered build. despite his age, he is still a strong, imposing tomcat with clear, attentive eyes. though they are a muted hazel, they seem to twinkle with silent wisdom and a warm, deep-seated joy.

When he had pinned the ShadowClanner before she had fought to escape by twisting away from him and scrambling to run, Sunfreckle expected the same here but he is instead faced with a different tactic; a foolish one normally but Aspenhaze lucked out in this being the only time it would work in their favor. A kick like that wouldn't have moved him otherwise but the second it connects horror twists in his chest and pain lances through him like a bolt of lightning; immediate regret floods his senses and he backs off.
The world has blurred briefly, black pinprick stars dotting his vision as it swims and struggles to focus in on the spotted RiverClanner before him that has backed away from him but does not yet attack.
Sunfreckle's steps backwards are uneven, swaying, his long tail curls under him and he closes his eyes tight to the rolling nausea that wells up; its almost overwhelming enough he worries he might black out and its enough incentive to have him turn with a stumble to try and make an escape. All the fight had gone out of him in an instant.

-Disengaging from @Aspenhaze and trying to retreat!

જ➶ The idiocy is clear and plan to see and they will take advantage of it. They will succeed and show Thunderclan that their strength is not as tightly kept as they wish to believe that it is. The mere fact that this Thunderclanner will allow him to come into the element that makes a Riverclanner shine proves that they know nothing. The water is their domain, they live and breath learning to hunt, to swim, and to fight in it. It is their advantage point and they will keep it. A snarl rips from their throat and a glee shines in their eyes. "Yes! LET'S GO FOR A SWIM!" They snap back just as easily even when the other grabs their scruff. With clean intentions the moggy suddenly becomes dead weight, using @Badgerstrike own momentum against them in this game of war. If they are successful they will pitch and attempt to toss the other over themselves and straight into the water, falling in right after them with a large and impactful splash.

The world turns into bubbles and murky surroundings but they go for the attack. Swimming smoothly and aiming to snap their jaws on the back of the Thunderclanner's neck, back claws trying tk cleave through the flesh of their back and turn the water pink with their blood.

- attempting to use Badger's own momentum to flip them into the water and going in right after them to lauch an attack, biting the back of the neck and clawing their back.

Badger found herself being kicked into the water. Before she plummeted into the cold depths, she took a quick breath. It was important to remain calm in the water, panicking makes your situation worse. Especially in deep water, but this was a little different. She had rocks to abuse and she knew how to knock the air out of someone.

She's squished Rabbitnose enough to learn.

Claws rip down her back and fangs dig into her neck. With claws extended, she tries to grip Wolfglade's head and a powerful surge forward towards the rockier shore, curling into a rolling position with the hopes of slamming him into the ground and squishing him with her weight.

@WOLFGLADE Badger is trying to roll forward while gripping his head to slam him on the ground and squish him

Petalnose falls beneath him but Flycatcher's joy is not to last. His enemy in this fight is on the ground for mere moments before the rolls out from under him. If Flycatcher were a larger cat he might have been able to pin her in place but alas he is not and even when putting most of his weight into the attack he cannot hold her down for long. There is one small caveat in that his claws rip into her hind limbs more as she wriggles free.

When Petalnose jumps up and readies herself to attack again, Flycatcher moves to do the same. However, having been attempting to grapple her mere moments earlier he is unable to defend himself as he would have liked and thus got the full force of her shoving him down before claws rake down his shoulders. Flycatcher yowled in pain and attempted to free himself, wriggling around andkicking out with his limbs in an effort for Petalnose to release him. He hope that his movements would be aided by the form of Flamewhisker trying to push the she-cat off of him.

/ attempting to defend himself from @Petalnose mentioning @Flamewhisker

જ➶ Being on the molly's back is a prime position in a fight and they mean to keep it. His claws and teeth dig in hard and he has no want to let go, least she get away and think that the battle is won. Eyes glitter like dangerous daggers as they keep a harsh grip of the other cat beneath his claws. She is trying to get at his skull, to grab at his head but their position surely makes that hard. Lifting his head up the moggy aims to tear the flesh of their neck in the same movement not paying attention to just what they are aiming for. They roll and the dark brown moggy goes over. His side hits the rocky shore and claws skitter against smooth river stones. Blood wafts up in the water from both opponents, leaking from their side from cuts that are made from some jagged rocks. Yet their claws swipe in retaliation, a need to push them away and they aim to slam claws against their face, to send them deeper in the river waters with a possible harsh kick with hind legs.

They need to leave, as many Thunderclan cats that have arrived there is little in the way of winning this encounter. Their body aches and they clench their teeth before twisting in the water to swim from Sunningrocks and towards the opposite shoreline.

- @Badgerstrike , tried to tear open a neck wound and with Wolf suffering from clawed shoulders, slashed up side from rocks, neck bites, and pained ribs they have tried to disengage from the fight, trying to slam claws against the face and kick them away to disorient

Petalnose clenched her teeth has she felt the claws rip and tear down her hind limbs. Though, the pain quickly wore off from the adrenaline pumping through her, her snarl of pain turned into a threatening smile when she pinned him down. "Not so weak are we?" She laughed in a breathy manner as she drug her claws down, her tail thrashing. She was then interrupted by a hiss and sudden paw steps hurling towards her. She jumped off of Flycatcher and dodged Flamewhisker, jumping swiftly to the side. "Oh..? Does kitty want to play too?" She purred in a mocking manner, smirking.

She aimed to jump towards her and strike her face in attempts to stun her and try to bowl her over, giving her a mocking hiss as she heard from the Molly earlier, laughing. She decided against holding her down as she had done to her mate. Two required to be quick on her feet, so pushing her over would give her enough time to prepare for attack from her mate. Pinning Flamewhisker down would only allow time for Flycatcher to get a brute attack. A challenge, something she was always up for. Now it was even more fun. Even if she lost or got overpowered.

She had lower chances of winning, but that didn’t intimate her one bit. Even if her eyesight wasn’t the greatest.

Emberflower has chosen her target, not realizing until it's too late that this small black smoke is one of Howlingstar's newer lead warriors. In a flash of panic, the cinnamon rosette even remembers her name: Nightbird. Her opponent neatly dodges Emberflower's blow and propels herself forward with powerful hindlegs and outstretched claws. In a tangle of forelimbs, the RiverClan warrior finds herself pinned and writhing to avoid flailing claws.

"Argh!" She lets out a yowl, feeling wetness on her belly. A surface level wound, but it stings. She attempts to wriggle out from under Nightbird, breathing heavy from the exertion. In the turmoil, Emberflower takes a moment to look around at her Clanmates.

Wolfglade and a black and white she-cat are brawling near the water's edge; the ThunderClan deputy and Petalnose are exchanging blows and hisses. Aspenhaze all but disappears under the bulk of red-pelted Sunfreckle. Another ginger she-cat propels herself toward Petalnose. Emberflower sees the hindquarters of Crappiepaw disappearing into the water, fleeing the chaos.

It's not going as planned, and they are losing. She will not be responsible for an avoidable death. Not tonight.

"RiverClan! Retreat!" Her hazel eyes smolder with passion; she fixes them on Nightbird and bares her teeth. "Let us leave, and you can keep your filthy rocks for tonight! RiverClan will be back one day."

She lashes her tail and turns to ensure each of her warriors will follow her into the water.

@Aspenhaze @Petalnose @WOLFGLADE we are running away !!! bye bye thunderclan

[ PENNED BY MARQUETTE ]

a yowl rips from beneath her. a dark paw is brought back to the ground now accessorized by pale fur caught between claws. along the edges of her vision, she can see badgerstrike tussling, taking her opponent into the shallows of the river. flycatcher and flamewhisker team up against the mouthy riverclanner. a quick shift of her eyes and she spots sunfreckle, filled with so much fervor only a few moments ago and now stumbling away from a tortie.

nightbird feels emberflower writhe beneath her, hears her labored breath. no strikes aimed for her form, she seemed to only be vying for an escape. as much as she wanted to see riverclan pelts soaked with more blood than water, there was nothing thunderclan could gain from this molly's death. perhaps the notion that she was able to flee thanks to nightbird's kindness would be worse.

a smooth stride carries her off of the riverclanner, a call for retreat echoes across the rocks soon after. a burning gaze meets her own once more, lips drawn back to show her teeth. "i can't wait," she retorts smugly, flashing her own fangs in a grin.

as soon as her opponent leaves to head back across the river, her expression once again falls stony. the lead warrior dashes across sunningrocks to sunfreckle's hunched form, not giving as much as a side glance to aspenhaze's direction if they were to linger. "sunfreckle," her voice was almost unsure as she addressed the red feline. she hadn't seen what had happened, but could only assume the worst. one hell of a blow had to be delivered to subdue this large of a cat. "is everything okay? can you make it back to camp?" he had helped her more than once, it was only fair that she repaid the debt however he needed.

The RiverClanner's retreat, overwhelmed by their sheer numbers and forced off the land that was rightfully ThunderClan's and he wants to celebrate but he's to scared suddenly by the way his stomach lurches and how he feels as though he's going to be ill at any moment; it was hard to determine just what the kick had done, forceful as it was he was generally a sturdy cat and surely...he wasn't so far along it had hurt them..had it?
His ears were ringing but he only heard the question and nothing else above the muffled and shrill sound in his head like a dying scream, "....I...yeah, I can..." Unsteady legs lifted him back up, a brief glance sparred to the RiverClanner in one darting motion before he tried to take a few steps forward only to pause as he pain started again like a bolt of lightning; his tail curling tighter in the ring it had formed through his legs and around his midsection.
Just needed to get back to camp, everything would be fine, Berryheart could help and he would just admit that maybe, maybe he should've already gone to the nursery but he didn't think he was that far into the kitting, normally it was more obvious wasn't it? Sunfreckle should have known, he should have felt it, but maybe he was just the fool here and it was his own fault for not being more aware.

Heading out!
