Today was a bad day. A very bad day. Puddledusk actually showed something towards her, and it was negative! Agatepaw had known it was going to be a bad day before that, but being scolded for not walking fast enough, for watching her paws and then told to just go back to camp, that she wouldn't be worth her time like this. It was something, yes, but it hurt worse than the usual ignoring.
Stonepaw was probably doing better than her. Stonepaw would probably pass his assessment on time, probably even early despite his mentor seemingly not being the greatest. Where would that leave her in regards to her partner in crime?
No. He probably didn't even need her now anyways. Was he changing, while she stayed behind? Probably. Why wouldn't he? Stonepaw was everything she wanted to be.
She caught sight of herself in a puddle, once again, tears slowly falling down her face this time. Anger, sadness, loneliness, and a feeling she doesn't quite understand.
Her brother, a son. A tom.
Herself, a sister, a daughter. A she-cat. And yet every time she heard those words, every time she viewed herself, Agatepaw wondered why she could not be more like her brother, moreso than just looking up to his confidence.
In the midst of her gloomy emotions and tears, Agatepaw did not notice the approaching form, did not hear the pawsteps getting closer.
