  Soft, fluffy fur covers Branchkit's body like down, reminiscent of his mother's own pelt. As small as he is, his coat’s pattern is somewhat muddled, but is clearly a pale brown-gray struck through with streaks of darker lilac. His eyes, when they open, will be rounded and blue, but will gradually grow darker and darker until they settle into a deep amber shade.
  
  Once the kithood roundness leaves him, Branchkit will certainly be lean and long-legged, with a mane of distinctly spiked fur along the back of his neck. He will keep his coat of long fur as he grows, often messy and unkempt from a lack of grooming.
  
  
  Takes after Chittertongue more than Needledrift, but inherits Needledrift’s soft, plush coat of fur.

  KIT: An overeager child with a vivid imagination, Branchkit tends to follow whatever Morelkit decides to do and looks to his brother for leadership. He finds it easy to connect with others, outgoing and endearing as he is, and making friends is easy. He knows no fear yet in his life, enjoying the doting of both his mothers; the only concern that little Branchkit has is the uncontrollable bursts of laughter that escape him after a good session of playing, or when he’s put into situations that he doesn’t enjoy. It seems that his father’s odd cackling mannerism has been passed down to him, and though his clanmates may find it cute while he’s a kit, Branchkit does not find it entertaining at all. He grows agitated when others point out his abrupt bouts of laughter, and makes it clear that he prefers for it to be ignored or not mentioned by others. He does find it interesting, though; sometimes he finds himself wondering whether he should have been the one named Gigglekit.
  
  He is a charismatic kit, always attempting to convince older cats to give him what he wants through big, sad eyes and a pouting face. He normally wanders about camp with a bright grin on his face, perpetually searching for others to play with. He is rarely seen separate from one of his mothers or his siblings, and tends to shy away from new experiences. Unadventurous as they come, Branchkit likes the nursery, and likes the cats within it, so he sees no reason to step out of his comfort zone.
  
  APPRENTICE / WARRIOR: Parts of his development will depend on early events in his life & his mentor, so his full adult demeanor is sort of up in the air. I plan on taking him in a generally laid-back direction, where he is a pretty chill guy who simply doesn’t give much thought to his actions. He will be the type to flirt playfully and bouncing from interest to interest, but is unwilling to actually settle down with anyone.
  
  He will grow more adventurous through his apprenticeship, eager to see all that the marshland has to offer, but his interest in the world stops at the edge of the territory. He will not cross the border unless required to do so, and he prefers to stay in the land that he knows well. This plays into his ability to move with confidence through the marshland, a skilled hunter and tracker on his home turf. He is knowledgeable about ShadowClan’s territory, but not of the other clans’ lands, and works more off instinct than knowledge when he is uncertain. This means that he can come across as unintelligent quite often, especially when paired with his tic that grows more prominent when stressed.
  
  As an apprentice and adult, Branch doesn’t give much thought to the consequences of his actions, leading to recklessness that can stress out those around him. He is quick to throw himself into danger for the sake of his clanmates, although he has enough self-preservation to only put himself in harm’s way if he thinks he can escape with minimal injuries. He is normally cool and composed, but has his moments of clear excitability—not to mention the cackling fits that claim him, though not as often as they did in his younger months.
  
  Overall he is generally pleasant, if not a bit arrogant, and trusts his clanmates to have his back.
  
  
  His odd cackling is a vocal tic, and is entirely involuntary. It normally makes an appearance only during highly emotional moments (anger, stress, excitement, etc.), but others pointing it out makes it worse.

  • Submissive toward Morelkit and follows everything that his brother says. As the firstborn of the litter, it makes sense that Morelkit would be the one bossing him around, after all.
  • Jealous of Gigglekit. He wanted to be named after his super-cool dad, not some dumb stick!
  • Probably idolizes all his parents, but especially Chittertongue—after all, if he shapes himself after a parent who’s dead, then he can’t let Branch down. Probably looks to Ferndance most as a role model as he ages.
  • Will ask Needledrift and Ferndance about his name eventually, and will express a desire to change it. He’d ask why Ferndance named him Branchkit, and depending on how the conversation went, he would probably choose to keep his name as it is.
  • Total mama’s boy. He loves his moms and is reluctant to leave them. The day he becomes an apprentice is going to be like dropping a kid off at preschool for the first time. (“What do you mean I have to go with someone else, I don’t like that, give me my moms back”)
  • Will end up standing taller than both his moms when he’s fully grown. Skinny, heron-like legs and a slim frame make him awkwardly clumsy through his apprenticeship.
  • I would LOVE for him to have a long-term rivalry. Maybe they're friendly rivals who push each other to do better, or maybe they start out as friends but get too competitive and shift to rivals (enemies) during apprenticeship. Someone to keep him on his toes and tone down his arrogance.
  • Chaotic Neutral. Not strictly good- or evil-aligned, but obviously doesn’t care too much for rules. He enjoys his freedom to live as he wants, and seems rather selfish at times. Typically, he won’t risk himself for anyone besides his friends or family, unless the benefits outweigh the potential cost. He is helpful and cooperative when it serves him, but overall doesn’t feel inclined to help others when he stands to gain nothing from doing so.
  • Fey Wanderer Ranger / Swords Bard. High WIS/CHA, low INT/STR, and almost eerily knowledgeable about the land that he grows up in. Mirthful at his best, and dreadful at his worst.

He can be persuaded to play with others, but he prefers to curl up against his mother’s side with the occasional heavy yawn. It seems he has inherited little of his parents' fire, but what he lacks in passion he more than makes up for in resilience. One thing that stands out about Stagkit is that he seems to remain the same, even when the clan and the rest of his litter shift and change around him. He is not particularly introspective, but he likes himself just as he is, and sees no reason to change that.
  
  He is highly sensitive to the emotions of others, and has a tendency to make himself scarce when situations become heated. Gentle to a fault, Stagkit is a bit of a crybaby and does not hesitate to go running to one of his parents when others poke fun at him. Being easy to upset does not make Stagkit a coward, however.   • I already have a tiny ThunderClan guy so I’d probably go pretty large with Stagkit. She’d inherit the size of her father, but wouldn’t reach full size until around 2-3 years old.
  • Future trans woman; I refer to her with fem terms OOC but will be referred to with masc terms until early apprenticeship. Big gal who is slow to anger, but is quick to stand and fight when those she loves are threatened. Her name will be an interesting part of her transition; she will consider changing it, but will eventually decide to keep it even if others don’t think it makes sense.
  • The way I imagine adult Stag moves is like a bear. Slow and lumbering, observant but not overly concerned about her surroundings. Not hugely interested in what’s going on around her, but is there immediately if someone she loves is in danger or needs backup.

He will hit an early growth spurt, nearly warrior-sized by the time he becomes an apprentice, but will prove to be uncoordinated and clumsy until he grows used to his large size.

  Hopekit is a generally unpleasant kit to be around, unfortunately for his beloved littermates. He is ill-tempered and quick to pick fights, which is made worse by the fact that he has good motor skills from a young age, sure-footed and strong for a kit. He enjoys roughhousing with other kits and apprentices, but often he is too rough, biting down hard with needle-sharp teeth. It will surely take multiple corrections to break him of his tendency to go overboard. He adores his littermates, but doesn’t understand why they may not want to play with him sometimes. He has all the blind self-confidence of a kit who thinks himself on top of the world, and frequently asks to be apprenticed early.
  
  Hopekit displays a strong sense of loyalty to his family, and a dedication to his beliefs. He is very stubborn and difficult to sway once his mind is made up. Still, in spite of his plethora of undesirable behaviors and the too-frequent loud outburst, he is quick to come to the aid of his littermates if they have problems, and he shows himself to be an outgoing cat who is adept at navigating social situations to get what he wants out of them. He attempts to make himself seem reserved and unemotional, thinking that it will make him seem more mature, but he does a poor job of covering up his feelings.
  
  
  Clearly mellowed out from his younger months, Hope will gradually become more relaxed and less rigid. He will grow into a relatively good-natured clanmate, confident and brave. But as protective and stubborn as he is, he tends to slide into overprotectiveness, which can become smothering.
  
  Self-sacrifice may as well be his middle name, with how willing he seems to throw himself onto the coals just to spare another the burn. He is a skilled storyteller, though what amount of his tales are true is questionable.
  
  Distrusting and even hostile toward outsiders, it is a difficult feat for anyone outside of his clan to gain his trust or respect. Believes that loyalty to one’s own clan is more important than anything, but also feels strongly about blood ties. He has built a strong sense of identity around his blood connections, and his loyalty will always be to his blood before his clan. If one of his siblings were to commit a heinous act, Hope would not hesitate to cover for them. Expanding upon this, he is an excellent keeper of secrets, with very few tells when he lies. Overall, he is a fierce defender of those he cares about, but can overstep when his protection is not needed.

  • Alt names: There are two types of alt names for this kid. Either a stereotypically “soft” or “feminine” name (Hope, Wish, Song, Sweet) or a name after his father (Wing, Cloud, Feather).
  • Chaotic Good. He may not be the nicest guy around as a kit/young apprentice, but he has a solid sense of morality, and begins building his own moral code at a young age. His parents have a huge influence on how this moral code develops. He may respect the rules of the land, but if he finds himself in a place where following the rules would go against his personal moral code, he is more than willing to break rules. In his late apprenticeship and into warriorhood, he has decided that he wants his presence in the world to be a positive one more than anything, and he is willing to do anything needed to ensure that.
  • Plant lover, as an adult he will nearly always have thorn-covered branches tangled into his thick fur. Takes immense pride in decorating his nest, and gets irritable if it is messed with in any way.
  • Feels insecure about his heritage, because his fur color looks unlike either of his parents.
  • Path of the Ancestral Guardian Barbarian. Though he may be a striker as a kit and into early apprenticehood, Hope is a defender at heart and looks to protect his less-sturdy allies in battle. He often goes overboard in his defense, but he means well. He reveres his ancestors and all the clan's dead, looking to StarClan often when he needs to make tough decisions.
  • Once he’s old enough to understand who Batwing was, Hopekit would look up to his father in every way. He would frequently ask others to tell him about Batwing, hoping to piece together the story of who his father truly was. This could cause him to become distant from his mother, since his focus lies mostly in finding out more about Batwing.
  • Over the course of his development he will feel a lot of pressure to be just like his father—now that Batwing is gone, someone needs to fill the place he once stood in. Someone needs to be what he once was. And in Hopekit’s mind, that duty falls to him.
  • He will gradually shift to using he/they pronouns, but won't really bring it up with anyone unless asked. He knows there's some fluidity there, but he's not quite curious enough to touch it yet. Will probably eventually ask older clanmates about what it means to “be a boy” and seems confused if they don’t give him a simple answer.

  In her kithood, Berrykit is a veritable bundle of fluff. Her coat is mainly ginger in color, struck through with barely-visible stripes. Along her spine and at her cheeks lie patches of darker chocolate fur, and her underside is cloaked in white. Her most notable white marking is the flamelike patch that sits upon her forehead, sitting just above warm amber eyes that seem constantly settled into a disinterested expression. Beneath her pelt, her frame is broad and rounded with kithood, and her wild fur only adds to her size.
  
  
  Berry was a ball of fluff as a kit, and her coat has only grown in longer and more dense as she’s grown older. Long, plush fur coats her frame head to toe, soft to the touch—if she would allow one to touch it, at least. Her pelt, consistently well-groomed and with not a hair out of place, is mainly ginger in color, struck through with barely-visible stripes.   Laziness is the first term that comes to mind when Berrykit's name pops up in conversation. She can be persuaded to play with others, but much prefers to curl up against her mother’s side with the occasional heavy yawn. It seems she has inherited little of her parents' strong personalities, but what she lacks in ferocity she more than makes up for in resilience. There is little that seems to bother Berrykit, though she is highly sensitive to the emotions and opinions of others. She has a tendency to make herself scarce when situations become heated. She takes after Lightstrike in her bluntness, but she is aware of how honesty may bring harm to others or hurt their feelings, and often attempts to sugarcoat her words. She is well-behaved and quiet, following rules and keeping careful control over her outwardly unbothered appearance. She feels responsible for keeping her denmates in line, but will not go so far as to boss them around. Gentle to a fault, Berrykit hates to roughhouse and loathes the idea of battle. This does not make her a coward, however; when one of her littermates is threatened or hurt, she is quick to come to their aid.

A gentle and obviously caring friend, while at the same time showing herself to be fierce and lion-hearted, she fits into the role of both a healer (someone to lean on for comfort) and a fighter (someone who will defend those she cares about to her last breath). Holds truth and vigilance in high regard, and cares deeply for her appearance.
  • Lawful Neutral. Berry’s alignment is a complicated thing; she wants what is best for others, but will also grow to believe that the rule of law stands above all else. Rules are there to protect everyone—and learning about Morningpaw’s fate and the very first rule of the warrior code will only serve to cement this in her head. She believes strongly in justice, in fairness without bias or emotion, and does her best to uphold it without much thought given to “the greater good”.

  As a kit, Iciclefang is Crabkit's hero. He is highly appreciative of all that his mother does, and shows a surprising amount of respect for her despite his usual lack of care for authority. He looks up to many of the she-cats in positions of power within RiverClan, and is more likely to obey orders from Lichentail than he is from Snakeblink.

  Closed-off and even a bit callous, Crab's outward personality has taken a complete turn from the wide-eyed and overeager kit he once was. A new tension has fallen over his features, serious and stony, though still a kitlike curiosity clings to him like morning dew. His ferocity is often tempered only by this curiosity, and the surest way to grab his attention (and keep it) is by drawing him into some sort of new experience. He excels at problem solving, and loves a good mystery.
  
  He is pleasant enough to his clanmates, but makes it clear that he isn’t interested in making friends if friendship comes at the cost of his responsibility to his clan. He carries himself with a tension that hardly ever seems to fade, and as such he deals with frequent headaches—these tend to make him irritable in addition to his usual aloof nature. He is strict and stern about rules and laws, and is quick to turn a scathing tongue upon those who he sees as rulebreakers or rebels. Apprentices and kits are not spared this harshness, although Crab is willing to take a more nuanced approach when it comes to the youngest of the clan breaking rules.
  
  He takes his duties as a warrior seriously, and is confident in his ability to do his job. He takes pride in his skills, though this pride tends to slip into arrogance and a feeling of infallibility.
• PUBLIC ENEMY NO. 1: A menace of a kit, Crabkit gets underfoot constantly. He plays too rough, bites too hard, and uses his claws when he shouldn’t. He is a rule breaker and unabashed about it. Eventually he either does something truly awful, or the little things finally add up, and he is punished with an apprenticeship delay of a month (or some other equally-devastating punishment for a kit).
  
  STRAIGHT A STUDENT: After being held back a month from his apprenticeship, Crabkit decides that he doesn’t want to be held back again. He begins to work on shaping up and being a more serious, hardworking RiverClanner. He is dutiful in every aspect of his apprenticeship, and works tirelessly to be a better swimmer, fisher, and fighter. By the end of his apprenticeship he would consider himself a perfect student (and in reality, even if he isn’t perfect, he’d still be a great apprentice) and would be diligent and overall much more mature than at the start of his apprenticeship. He’d likely seem like an entirely different cat as a whole.
  
  BASTARD OF THE SEA: Finding out that he isn’t a full-blooded RiverClanner does not go over well with Crab. He reacts poorly to the news, and it’s likely that he would have a very out-of-character outburst of some sort. How exactly he reacts depends HEAVILY on where he is in his development. If he was already an older apprentice or warrior, he would turn the cold bite he inherited from Iciclefang back on her, cooly accusing her of being unfit for her position within the clan (and he would refuse to meet with "the other parent"). If he was still a kit or younger warrior, he would be more open and accepting of the admission, and would want to meet Stormywing, even if the idea of both his parents being disloyal would linger in the back of his mind for months afterward.
  
  FISH OUT OF WATER: As he grows older, Crab becomes arrogant, too prideful. He knows that he is skilled in hunting and fighting, but at some point he must confront where his faults lie. Something happens that makes Crab have to hunt land prey rather than fish, and it quickly becomes clear that while he is highly skilled in water, he is poor at remaining stealthy and can't pounce for shit. This tempers his "deserved" arrogance somewhat, and he pushes himself into a period of work on bringing his land skills up to par with the rest of his skills.

Still, when in a good mood he is chatty and outgoing, and endeavors to help around the clan wherever he can. It is clear that he will continue to be a pawful throughout his kithood, but there is hope for him to turn his attitude around.

  DENSE-COATED LILAC TOM WITH DEEP COPPER EYES / TOYHOUSE
  A thickly-furred kit who looks nothing like either of his parents, Hopekit stands taller than most of the clan’s other kits. His legs are long and thin, storklike in appearance, and the rest of his body is thin beneath his lilac-patched pelt. His eyes are dark and narrow, a deep copper in hue. He will hit an early growth spurt, nearly warrior-sized by the time he becomes an apprentice, but will prove to be uncoordinated and clumsy until he grows used to his large size.

  Hopekit is a generally unpleasant kit to be around, unfortunately for his beloved littermates. He is ill-tempered and quick to pick fights, which is made worse by the fact that he has good motor skills from a young age, sure-footed and strong for a kit. He enjoys roughhousing with other kits and apprentices, but often he is too rough, biting down hard with needle-sharp teeth. It will surely take multiple corrections to break him of his tendency to go overboard. He adores his littermates, but doesn’t understand why they may not want to play with him sometimes. He has all the blind self-confidence of a kit who thinks himself on top of the world, and frequently asks to be apprenticed early.
  
  Hopekit displays a strong sense of loyalty to his family, and a dedication to his beliefs. He is very stubborn and difficult to sway once his mind is made up. Still, in spite of his plethora of undesirable behaviors and the too-frequent loud outburst, he is quick to come to the aid of his littermates if they have problems, and he shows himself to be an outgoing cat who is adept at navigating social situations to get what he wants out of them. He attempts to make himself seem reserved and unemotional, thinking that it will make him seem more mature, but he does a poor job of covering up his feelings.
