Agatepaw sighed, pressing her face into her paws as thoughts of not being useful enough swirled in her head. She tried, oh she tried her best, but she still had no idea if she was even doing any good at her training. Were her successes just passable, were her failures too hard to correct?

Was she far behind where she should be? Far behind her brother? Agatepaw didn't know, and with things as they were, she wasn't really keen to talk to him.

The cinnamon and black she-cat sighed, tail twitching. She wanted nothing more than to sink into the ground, hide away under the frost, or just feel better about herself but StarClan knew that she wasn't going to feel better any time soon.

What she didn't know was she was in the path of someone returning to camp...

STEP FROM THE DARK TO THE LIGHT

⚛︎₊˚‧ Amberhaze was on his way back to camp after yet another outing in favor of keeping the clan afloat during the rapidly worsening Leafbare weather. Today he would busy himself with weaving insulated nests and fortifying the outside of the dens with materials much thicker than what would typically be used for the warmer seasons as to keep the inside of their sleeping quarters as warm as possible. He was not a very tall cat despite being lengthy, a fact that when paired with his heavy burden of particularly thick, long branches and twigs that were set firmly upon his back and clenched between striking ivory teeth, it came as no surprise that his vision was obscured.

Having lived in ShadowClan for a good chunk of his life now, he had memorized their camps layout quite a long time ago and could now very easily maneuver around the space with his eyes closed. However, stray clanmates laying around in the middle of the premises was definitely not something that typically came with their inner territory- which is why he failed to notice the sulking figure of Agatepaw until he was right on top of her- noticing too late that something was in his path, his paws catching beneath her abdomen and causing him to topple forward, his bundle of precious cargo immediately scattered into disorganized heaps on every side of them.

"Agh...W-What the hell?" Amberhaze groaned as he pulled himself up onto his front paws, a confused and uncharacteristically annoyed expression causing his features to harden just slightly as he took in the scene of everything he had spent hours collecting now unceremoniously tossed about from all directions as if they were blown about carelessly by a fierce wind. Turning his head, he finally faced Agatepaw, his expression immediately dropping into one of remorse and panic upon discovering it wasn't just his own two paws he had stepped over.

"Oh man, I-I'm so sorry! Uh- I d-didn't see you..." He would fumble over his own words, eyes now widened into bloodshot saucers as he hurriedly jumped onto his feet, his oversized ears dropping low to the sides of his head like that of a floppy-eared dog.

Startled, Agatepaw yelped, mismatched eyes wide. Frantically, the glanced between Amberhaze and the mess, one she blamed herself for. Great! Just great! Another mess, another failure! She took in a sharp breath, shaking slightly as she got to her paws.

"No! No, I'm the one that's sorry! I... I should've been more... I should've been more..." she fumbled over her words as she tried to tidy up the materials. "Careful! I should've paid more attention to where I was." Embarrassing, and unhelpful, and useless and...

She took in a deep breath, trembling. "Can we salvage any of it? I... I'm sorry, I really... I really am. I should've...! I'll help get more, I swear... Promise..." What if someone froze because of her mistakes? What if? What if she cost the Clan a life for brooding...? She could only hope Swansong's mentorship could make her better, and that Amberhaze would let her help, even after she had caused this mayhem.
