EVERY PUSH, EVERY SHOVE, EVERY WAR, EVERY LOVE - hunting patrol

"AND THOUGH THE EMBERS ARE NEW, WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T LET THE FIRE DIE"
It was nice to be doing something simple for once. So many of her duties as leader felt like things she could never accomplish; keeping everything in order, making sure her clan was safe, worrying about worrying about whatever was going on between the other clans. Hunting, in comparison, was simple. She had been hunting since she was small, she could do it with her eyes closed. Better yet, she was hunting with friends.

This was the sort of thing she had missed when her duties took up all her time, simpler things. As guilty as she felt for letting Howling Wind take some of her responsibilities from her, she was grateful for it too.

"So, any preference on where we head?" she asked her companions brightly, glancing at them over her shoulder. Though she had a few ideas of her own, she really just wanted to make conversation. The whole point of bringing them along was to spend time with them after all. Not that she planned to ignore their input, she was perfectly fine going along with whatever ideas they had.

"Any direction is fine!" Rabbitnose answered. As long as he caught something... He was worried.

Worried about is mate, his kits, his clan. It was going to be a rough winter.

" Though perhaps there may be more prey where less damage was done." He added. He wasn't sure, but he figured prey would move away from the burnt areas.

The river too, maybe......But he wasn't about to suggest his mortal enemy, water.

He follows behind, pawsteps careful as he looks around the damaged forest.

Stars, when was the last time he'd hunted here? It must have... It must have been when...

Finchcatcher pushes the memory away as best as he can. The ginger warrior had all the time in the world to remember just where and when he got his first scars. Now, however - hunting with an old friend, as well as - hopefully - a new one, wasn't the time.

"I got to admit, Emberstar," he begins, leaf-green eyes flickering over towards her, "I don't really know my way around here quite yet. Where's the best place to hunt, usually?" At Rabbitnose's mention of the fire, of it's destruction, he corrects himself.

"Or, the best place to hunt now, that is."

Neither of her patrol member's seemed to have a particular suggestion, which suited her just fine. She should have expected it in Finchcatcher's case, really. He hadn't been in the clan nearly long enough to know any good spots. Then again, she would have felt rude asking just Rabbitnose.

The later warrior's mention of the fire did give her pause though. She nodded in agreement, heading away from the damage it caused would be their best bet, however good of a hunting spot The Great Sycamore used to be.

"Alright then, how about we head toward Sunningrocks?" she suggested amicably. "We should be able to find a few catches between Sandy Hollow and there. That sound good?"

Sunningrocks. Sandy Hollow? Where was that, again?

Bits and pieces of his new home roll through his mind, as he thinks, as he tries to remember just where Emberstar was suggesting they go.

"... By RiverClan...?" he asks. Fair enough. It was probably the least damaged, considering that was their evacuation path. Not to mention, RiverClan seemed alright enough. Though he'd mostly kept to himself in their short time there, they seemed like a decent group of cats. "I'm fine with that. You?" He turns to Rabbitnose, a questioning look in his gaze.

"Yeah!" It was totally fine with him!

.......

Okay, it wasn't. But you gotta do what you gotta do.

"I don't usually hunt by the river, so it's a nice change of pace!" He said.

He wouldn't let his fear of water get in the way of hunting for the clan. He couldn't, not with leaf bare on the way. Besides, the river offers water, an important part of survival. Creatures were sure to gather there. All he wished was for the river to not sweep him away.
