chocolate tabby with high white and hazel eyes / toyhouse
a scruffy-looking old tom, viper is short and rather broad in the shoulders. despite his age, he shows considerable strength especially in his forelimbs, and he has not yet lost the muscle from his time as a warrior. his thick coat is mostly white, with patches of chestnut brown striped fur, and his pelt is almost always strewn with leaves and twigs. he keeps a twig tucked between his teeth almost of the time to idly chew on. his eyes are hazel, ringed in the center with a darker olive color. with his age, he has lost the ability to fully retract the claws on his front paws, leaving them dulled and sometimes ripped clean off due to snags. beneath the fur on his flanks and chest are numerous scars, gnarled and whitened with how old they are, and a newer scar—gained during the great battle at fourtrees—slices neatly across the bridge of his nose.

a rugged man of the woods, viperstrike takes no shit from anyone. he is prone to ordering apprentices around when he is in a bad mood, although on better days he is a comforting figure who does his best to uplift younger cats. he has a sharp tongue and a tendency to give criticisms that are not always necessary. even as an elder, he does not quite accept his retirement from warrior status; he agrees it is probably best for his health, though, and he has grown quite lazy since retiring. he is very intelligent despite his appearance, and is often a cat others go to for advice. he is a sweet talker when he wants to be, and is excellent at buttering others up.

backstory / simplified history
- he and his sibling stonesnap were born kittypets, but became loners at around 70 moons old.
- they ended up living with the marsh group until the great battle, at which point the siblings had a falling out based on their disagreement. stonesnap thought that the marsh group was in the right, while viperstrike reluctantly believed that they were in the wrong (“we used to be kittypets, stone!”).
- participated in the great battle, killing two enemy cats.
- joined thunderclan when it was formed, while stonesnap remained in shadowclan.
- retired to the elder’s den against his wishes at 120 moons.
