camp FREE ASSOCIATION 🎀 CHANGE

It's a day like any other day lately... which means its a good one! Now that the bad guys are gone, and now that Pinkpaw knows everyone loves her and nothing is wrong with her, she can be happy just like normal! It's even been getting warmer lately... Which she would appreciate more if it didn't turn the cold— but to make up for this, very pretty snow— into weird slushy wet stuff.

Pinkpaw has done her best to avoid it... She walks across camp carefully, crossing one paw over in strange ways if it'll help her avoid the icky slushy stuff. But at one point, in an attempt to avoid one slushy puddle, she steps straight into another. And here, she can't take anymore! " You need to either be snow, or not snow! " she growls, turning on the culprit that was the icky puddle at her feet as if it were an actual cat. And it kinda was, cause she sees her own reflection glaring right back at her.

And... she feels like she looks a bit different. Now that she's looking, one of her paws that she was about to slam down onto the puddle in rage looks way different too. It's not grey and stuff anymore... And neither is her belly... And now she's noticing...

WindClan would be privy to the sight of Pinkpaw briefly spinning in circles, before eventually breaking her neck to peer closely at her own self. She hasn't noticed at all because she's too busy noticing more important things like if there was a hole to hide in nearby in case Scorchstreak came to find her when she didn't feel like training, and things like that! The shaggy grey once covering her fur is all but gone, leaving behind a black - and - red coat, just like her mom or like Scorchstreak! SHE ACTUALLY JUST CHANGED COLORS! She's never been so shocked in her entire life. She gasps, lifting her tail that was now striped white - and - red instead of white - and grey. " I'm the prettiest girl in the world... " she announces, awestruck. Could she harness this power to turn any color she wanted?

  • ( IT'S TIME TO START A FUCKING RIOT, RIOT! ) PINKPAW APPRENTICE OF WINDCLAN. DAUGHTER TO BRIGHTSHINE & HEAVY SNOW. SISTER TO HEATHPAW, DOWNYPAW, & FINCHPAW.
—— SHE / HER; UNOPPOSED TO THE USE OF OTHERS
—— CURRENTLY 7 MOONS OLD. AGES EVERY 16TH

A tiny, longhaired calico she - kit with sunburst eyes ringed blue around her pupils (central heterochromia). While you can clearly see her flame markings on her face, the rest of her body is currently covered by a grey fever - coating. Though the whites of her are still very much visible. Pinkpaw bounces around WindClan without a care in the world! Her emotions are big, and she makes little effort to regulate them, resulting in both her usually cheerful disposition, as well as making her prone to sudden bouts of extreme anger or sadness. Rarely seen without a smile!
HEAVY IC OPINIONS! Pinkpaw is a very irrational and childish character!

Pinkpaw had become such a constant force in Featherpaw's life that he felt like he'd stopped taking note of her, after a certain point. It was a given that she was there, chattering at his side, splintering his spiny walls. Only in the stuffy, aromatic atmosphere of the medicine den had Featherpaw asmitted to herself- and the patchy, sooty tunneller- that there was something about being prodded that she liked. Sought...

She supposed she should return the favour. The marble-striped tom strode over to her, ready to tell her to calm down and stop yelling at a puddle as if she could control the whims of nature- but before she could reach her, she was spinning. Contorting herself. Featherpaw followed her multicoloured gaze, glancing at her tail, at the... bright patches peering through the ashy-dark of her pelt. Actually... there was no strange sootiness about her, anymore. The same sort of patchiness that Brightshine bore was displayed shiny-new across her body, and Featherpaw couldn't stop herself from staring in complete bafflement for a few moments.

She looked like summer. Like a phoenix out of the ashes of Sootstar's WindClan. Like...

I'm the prettiest girl in the world...

Featherpaw felt profoundly odd. Somewhat like Pinkpaw had outsmarted her. "How did you do that?" A snowy paw gestured vaguely to the new inferno on her body. Bafflement coated his tone, confusion so powerful it sounded like frustration.

AS HE RAISED HIS FIST BEFORE HE SPOKE — They had seen many things in their life, even when they had merely been watching things from the shadows instead of outright participating. They had seen a cat rise from the dead, they had seen battles that would haunt their minds for moons to come, and they had seen enough death and fighting for quite a few lifetimes. The one thing that Rattleheart hadn't seen, however, was a cat that changed colors. Yet, when they noticed Pinkpaw turning in frenzied little circles in the distance, they became suddenly aware of the fact that she had changed. No longer was her pelt a combo of monochrome shades with occasional bits of red sticking out - instead, she looked more akin to what they would expect from their sister's pelt.

For a moment they just stared, frozen near the entrance of camp after returning from a quick walk through the moors. They had intended on heading right over to the freshkill pile and making themselves comfortable for a meal and some grooming, but now their attention had been firmly grabbed by Scorchstreak's color-changing apprentice. Featherpaw seemed similarly shocked, an event nearly as exciting as Pinkpaw's new rainbow of colors in terms of rarity. "How... did you do that?" They couldn't help but echo Featherpaw's words, pale gaze wide as they slowly circled around Pinkpaw. Though doing so didn't present them with some kind of magical answer over what she had done, it just gave them a better view of the new colors that had sprouted across her fur.

Warily, Rattleheart glanced briefly between Pinkpaw and the medicine den, wondering if Wolfsong might have some insight on what had suddenly changed Pinkpaw's coloration. "I've never seen something like this before..." Then again, they had never before been invested enough to see a kit with a fever coat grow up to her age, at least not while realizing what was going on at the time. "I hope it's not a sign of something bad..." Their voice came out as a low mutter then, quiet enough that hopefully neither Pinkpaw or Featherpaw would hear. The sudden change didn't seem like a sign of illness or omen, but they were admittedly a bit jumpy after everything that had happened.

Looking at another cat, truly, wholly looking, is something that requires more effort than Sunstar might admit. So much has been on his mind, on the minds of his entire clan, that a disconnect has grown between his mind and his eyes. He moved and acted on battle instinct. Each stranger he looks at for the inklings of threat. Each clanmate is ghosted over for peculiarities before his gaze snaps on to the next. Featherpaw has not changed all at once. Bit by bit, color bled into her pelt. Training, he thought. Growing up. Either could have contributed to the sense of oddness when he thought too long about the kitten she had been. But it is not until this very moment, hearing her bubbling announcement and his kitten's uncomfortable question, that he really, truly thinks on what he had seen.

And like all involved in this moment, he stares upon her with uncertainty. Incredulity. "I knew of something similar within the mountains. Kittens born flecked with snow." They had not lived to change the way that Pinkpaw had, he thinks briefly, with some guilt. Had Wolfsong remembered things differently than he? Had Vulturemask shared something that Sunstar could not know? He too looks to the herb-scented den's entrance. But this was hardly a sickness now. Pinkpaw was healthy, and content. Her life was not so terribly short as the snow-capped kittens of his memory, whose mother had passed just before they themselves did. Was it poor luck for them? Good luck for Pinkpaw? Something entirely separate? StarClan could have said something to them, in doing this, but in truth. . . he does not think their will would be shared through the pelt of a frankly ridiculous apprentice. He discounts this concern easily enough.

⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。⋆ Pinkpaw's grey fur had finally shed into something, pretty as she called it - and he found himself agreeing. This sight was not too unfamiliar, though Slateheart couldn't speak of its origin or whether or not it was an omen. If it was anything like what he had lived through, it would not be harmful.

"My siblings and I were born with grey fur," Slateheart commented, paired with a dip of his head in greeting towards the gathered cats. If it would help to ease their minds, he would share his experience. "It's what I was named for. It went away during our apprenticeship as well." He recalled the way his grey fur finally gave way to solid black, as dark as the night sky. He remembered Ashpaw's own fur, stained dull and grey, and how it turned a vibrant ginger the last time he saw her.

"If it means anything, Gravelsnap and I are still healthy despite it. Maybe it's not so bad." Though, his voice carried a hint of uncertainty. He'd never truly know what caused the grey fur in himself and his siblings as kits, what caused it in Pinkpaw - or why it went away. He'd never thought it possible for a cat's pelt to change colors otherwise. Perhaps Wolfsong would have more to say..

➴➴ The black-patched moor runner approaches alongside his brother, hazel gaze settling on Pinkpaw as the apprentice calls herself the prettiest girl in the world. Gravelsnap would, of course, harshly disagree with that statement. There aren't any pretty girls anywhere in the world—or at least, none of them are particularly interesting to him. He hasn't met any she-cats with clear blue eyes and flowers in their fur yet, but he doesn't really want any pretty girls. No cat could compare to Peri, anyway—not that Gravelsnap would ever say so aloud, of course.

Slateheart tells the apprentice of himself and Gravelsnap's own gray fur, saying that they had been healthy despite it, and Gravelsnap nods along. They can't recall ever being unhealthy as a kit, apart from the the time they'd gotten a thorn stuck in their paw. Overall, they doubt the change in Pinkpaw's pelt is anything bad as Rattleheart suggests. They take a slight step forth, tail swishing as they ask, "How long have you… not been gray?" They find that they can't recall when they'd last seen the little calico's gray fur. They don't tend to pay attention to the tunnelers of the clan, especially not their dirt-crusted fur.

𓆝 . ° ✦ Grasskit was sitting contentedly in a sunbeam, warm and lit up like a little puffball. He opened his eyes upon hearing Pinkpaw say something about being pretty. And... wow, she was pretty! His green eyes grew round as he stared. He quickly jumped forward, (regretting the loss of the sun's warmth) and bounded over. "Pinkpaw must be magic!" He squeaked, getting probably a little too close to look.
