Foxpaw turned to look towards Otterbite as the gathering cats dissipated. He blinked anxiously up at his mentor, and then turned to look back towards the stepping stones. It had been so long since he had first crossed them into RiverClan's camp, that he remembered little about what lay beyond them. Should he tell Otterbite that? Or would his mentor think it was a dumb thing to say? The newly named apprentice shifted his paws nervously. He didn't know Otterbite well at all. He'd hoped to be apprenticed to Foxtail, or maybe Tigersplash, but he hadn't thought to ask. His apprenticeship had always seemed a distant concept, one he hadn't exactly been eager for. He wished he were back in the nursery with Robinheart.

"What do we do first?" he finally said, turning his attention back to Otterbite, swishing his bushy tail. At least Robinheart had taught him to swim.
