THEY CALL KIDS LIKE US VICIOUS AND CARVED OUT OF STONE
BUT FOR WHAT WE'VE BECOME, WE JUST FEEL MORE ALONE

It had taken more than he'd expected to come to the forest. Not because he was afraid of what was out there- no, if anything vox welcomed the challenge that would come from a change of pace and new dangers- but because it was always hard for the tom to admit that he'd been wrong. And he had been. When his brother had suggested they leave all those weeks ago, he'd stubbornly refused, preferring to pretend that everything was fine when really nothing would ever be the same again.

And so Semper had left.

But in the weeks that followed, the cream tomcat found himself wracked with regret and restless anxiety. He had already lost so many cats, and now his brother was gone as well. And it hadn't even been worth it! Staying behind in twoleg place had done nothing but prove he was stubborn enough to ruin his own life, and as the days had ticked by his sanity had slowly gone with it. Until eventually, he'd just had to leave.

He felt bad for leaving Auggie behind, the one cat who'd maybe been keeping him sane during that time, but Augustus was a housepet. As much as the other tom yearned for adventure, Vox couldn't drag him into the world of wild cats and expect him to be happy. And Vox, well, he couldn't be hapy there. It just.. wasn't practical. So he'd left.

Now in the forest, he felt a little better.

Some of his restless energy had subsided now that he was actually doing something about it, and each step farther into the woods eased a little more of the tension from his body. Despite this, the tom was noticeably alert. Green eyes were sharp and ears were angled to keep tabs on his surroundings, and eventually he came to a place where the scent of cats hung heavy in the air.

This must be the place.

Unlike many who hailed from the marshland, Berry held no distaste toward loners and kittypets. Though, that was not due to any unique compassion- no, more a distinct apathy toward any type of conflict. Even when others were nasty he tended not to hold a grudge- anger as an emotion occupied too much energy, enthusiasm much better spent on activities he actually wanted to partake in. Therefore when the scent of a stranger tugged at his attention, and hooded eyes lifted to make out a shape among the foliage, he felt only the twinge of mild curiosity. Besides, he was a Thunderclanner now. The past was just that, and with a leader who hailed from the pine group, he was in no mood to act cagey.

Well, any more cagey.

Ambling over, the lopsided tom regarded the other for a moment- large, and with sand-hued fur. Dappled ears swivelled to match where his attention lay, and he lowered himself to a seat, curling his tail around snow-kissed paws. "Hello." It was a plain, monotone murmur- ever characteristic- but polite all the same, matched with a dip of his head.

✵ ღ ☾ LOVE WITH EVERY STRANGER - Much like Berry, Wildflower also held no negative thoughts towards kittypets- or house cats, as she would call them.
Though, unlike Berry, she was spared from the burden of growing up between two warring groups, and from the venom that had poured from the tension.
Cats were cats, to Wildflower, despite what she had been told by the other loners when she moved in.
From a distance, Berry’s brindled pelt caught her attention, and she had decided to trot over. She liked Berry, and after recently learning the adorable nickname he had for her, she considered the tom a pal!
Though, the stranger he was talking to only came into view as Flow drew near, her sage hues dancing with surprise. ❝ Hello! What’s your name? ❞ She chirped as she stopped beside the tortoiseshell, a happy smile tugging at her maw as she took a moment to look at the tom, his gaze as sharp as daggers, and shoulders heavy from travel- he was definitely an interesting soul! Wildflower couldn’t help but wander what stories he had to share.
❝ Speech. ❞

It wasn't long until he found himself with company. Movement in the brush up ahead would draw his gaze, and a moment later two figures would appear on the path before him. He was quick to gauge the situation and note the lack of hostility coming from the pair, but he couldnt help but feel a bit on edge still. He'd been with the same group of cats and opening himself up to new ones wasn't going to be easy. Still, nobody had forced him to come here, and he knew he was going to have to put in effort if he wanted to really give it an honest go. And he did, even if he was too stubborn to admit it to himself.

"Uh, hello." he answered, trying to stay polite but lacking the overall enthusiasm with which the shecat had spoken. "My name's Vox. You guys are part of the group that lives here, right? I've come to see if I can." he asked, always quick to get to the point.

He could smell the scent of other cats clinging to their gray and brindle pelts so he was pretty confident this was who he was looking for. The question just remained if they were still taking on newcomers. He'd been told there were only two groups who seemed open to strays and kittypets joining them, and of the two Thunderclan had seemed the most promising.

"WE ARE THE BROKEN ONES, WHO CHOSE TO SPARK A FLAME"
It was the sound of conversation that called Ember over. She had been hoping to get some hunting in before the sun set, and if she could have some company for it that'd be all the better. Though, as she approached, she quickly realized not all the voices sounded familiar. Her ear twitched as she listened. Yes, she was certain of it. There was a voice she hadn't heard before in the midst of the din.

A smile split her face.

"Heya!" the moment she came into sight of the three cats, her cheerful call rang out. She raced over, eager to meet the new face. Even though she had made so many new friends over the past few days, she was always glad to have more. The smell of twolegplace was not lost on her, but neither were the scars dotting the large toms pelt. In her mind, this was no kittypet, even if he had once been one. "I overheard ya mention something about joining?" she asked warmly. "My name's Ember, and I'm the leader of Thunderclan. Nice ta meetcha!" she greeted with a practiced nod. "And we'd be glad ta have ya!"
