༻✦༺ The snow nearly blinds them. They can hardly see beyond their own whiskers—but they press onward in spite of it. They had slipped away from DuskClan's camp when the snow had begun to let up a bit, their mostly-white coat helping them to blend in with the frosty landscape. Whether their parent noticed their departure or notices their absence now, Berrypaw hasn't even considered. The barren lands DuskClan lives in have made prey scarce, so the apprentice needs to search elsewhere, even if that means they risk getting lost in the snowy weather.

They may have crossed a scent line a while back, but they can't be certain. Scents are difficult to pick up on, but there was… a whiff. Just for a heartbeat, and then it was gone. Wherever she is, there's been other cats passing this way since the snow fell. Or there are other cats nearby. Berrypaw files this information away for the moment, keeping a close eye on what she can see around her. Then, at last, the snowfall lessens, just for a moment. A small blessing, and one that allows them to see clearly in front of them. And… there, in the swirling snow, they see exactly what they'd come here for: a mouse. "You're mine," she murmurs, her words lost in the wind around them. The mouse doesn't seem to hear nor smell her, and it's only a moment before the girl pounces. The taste of blood fills her mouth; the mouse dies between merciless jaws. Berrypaw feels nothing but relief as she braces against the cold, wind whipping through silky fur. At least she won't go hungry tonight.

"... Hey...?"

Bunnypaw did not mean to part from her patrol. She had taken a break, the chill of the blizzard aching her paws - but the bulk of them had continued on. Sedgepounce still lingers several steps behind, she can just make out his mottled pelt above the blizzard-bound horizon. But he wouldn't be able to hear her, not as she confronts the trespasser with a confounding softness. She trembles and knows better than to blame it on the cold, knows that it's inevitable what is to happen here if she is a good and proper apprentice of WindClan. Is she?

"... Hey...!" She says with more conviction, stepping closer to the stranger. She tries to look mean, furrowing her brows and tensing her jaw. "That's - that's a WindClan mouse! You better drop it now," she hisses, but the sound of fury mixes with the flightiness of fear. Still, she trudges ever forward, as if her hefty weight and spur of courage will scare off the other cat.

༻✦༺ The sound of another's voice carries through the swirling wind, and mismatched eyes snap up at the noise. She is unsure what she expects of the new enemy, but when she looks upon them she nearly lets out a sharp laugh. The other cat is broader than herself, more well-fed, and is clearly trying to intimidate her. But the other apprentice's voice quakes, and Berrypaw's maw twists into a stiff smile that bares her teeth as she hears the slight stumble at the beginning of the declaration. "H-hey," she mocks, "you want me to drop it? Okay…" She does as she is ordered, letting her catch drop into the snow. Maybe she'll lose it after all, when the snow sweeps over it and hides it from view, but maybe it would be worth it to show this WindClanner that she won't be shoved around.

The other cat moves closer, and the fur along Berrypaw's spine bristles. She crouches, her body coiling in on itself, but her stance isn't defensive. She may be smaller than the other feline, but she cannot be driven away with threats. She bites out a snarl and charges forward, aiming to drive her shoulder into the other's chest. If Berrypaw manages to bowl her over, she'll fall with her, hoping to shove her fully into the snow. The cold stings at her face, but she feels the rest of her body heating up with the motions; violence warms her now more than ever.

The mocking hurts as it is intended to do. Bunnypaw flinches in response, almost wishing that she could keel over just then. She's done her job of telling the other off, even if it didn't land with as much intensity as it should have - is that not enough? The apprentice watches with squared shoulders as the trespassing feline drops the mouse as instructed, and like a fool she continues forth, as if that will be it.

Before she knows it, the air is cut through with a snarl, and though the other is smaller and thinner than her, they make true on their attempt. A shoulder slams directly into her chest, shoving her and winding her all in the same motion. Berrypaw follows through, claws grappling at her thick fur, and tries to shove her into the desperate cold of the snow. In response, Bunnypaw flails - her claws reach and score, both making their marks and missing entirely. Eventually she acts as the prey she's named for, heaving her legs up into the other's stomach and kicking as hard as she can.
