no angst LET IT ROCK / MOSSBALL

It's not exactly the night off from duties that Hawkspine had hoped for, but the atmosphere within SkyClan camp has turned downright festive despite it. His Clanmates mingle, and chatter fills the air, and a long-dormant desire to have fun sparks in the warrior.

His nest is scant (most of the warriors' are) and there isn't much moss to spare ... but in the name of celebration, he would suffer the discomfort of a less-padded nest tonight. His fur would keep him warm, he hopes. Hawkspine vanishes from view for several heartbeats, returning triumphant and dragging a scrap of brittle moss from his nest. He drops it with a triumphant grin, and meets the quizzical look from a denmate with a mischievous lash of his tail.

"Think fast!" He chirps, launching the mossball with a well-placed swipe, though it flies slightly to the off side of his target. Oops. It seems his mossball skills are a bit rusty. Maybe his Clanmates would be up for the challenge!

  • // any cat can be the warrior he passed the mossball to! this is aimed at the clan adults so we can get a little rowdy, but younger clanmates can also join in<3

by popular vote, this will be a little dice game with a reward for the last cat standing! check the next tab for info :3

    hawk rolled a 15 on his throw!<3

  • In your post you'll make two d20 rolls: first to catch the moss, and then to pass it to the next cat.

    catch:
    • 20: A perfect catch! The character who threw the moss is out.
    • 11-19: Nice save! Your character can roll to throw the moss.
    • 6-10: Your character fumbles the catch, but saves it. Roll to throw the moss.
    • 2-5: With a fumble, your character is unable to trap the ball before it goes out of bounds. Your character is out!
    • 1: In their haste and determination, your character knocks into a den, or a Clanmate who isn't playing! Your character is out.

    throw:
    • 20: Your character adds well-controlled flair— the target has disadvantage on their catch.
    • 11-19: A nice throw, with minimal issues with aim or power.
    • 6-10: This is a bit of a wonky pass (it bounces or rolls), but salvageable.
    • 1-5: Your throw goes out of bounds! Your character is out- fetch the ball and pass it to the next cat.

Despite the downright festive mood in the camp, Howlfire had sequestered herself in the warrior's den for a little bit. After the struggles their clan had faced, she is glad they can all have this time to relax, and forget about things for a few hours. However, Howlfire was missing her mate that night, wishing she could steal a moment away with him, but finding distance between them again.

After wallowing for a little bit, Howlfire was eventually spurred back to life by the excitement and warmth of her clanmates, and decided to head back into camp to share prey. As she was leaving, she caught sight of Hawkspine dropping a brittle mossball. Given how scarce everything was, Howlfire didn't think it was exactly wise to be using up parts of their nest like that and gave her son a quizzical look. Said look was returned by Hawkspine flinging the mossball at her with a well-timed swipe. "Stars! Hawkspine!" Howlfire gasped out loud, just about managing to catch the moss, albeit juggling it between her forepaws for a moment. She keeps it close to her paw for a moment, flashed her son a wry grin, and then proceeded to swat the mossball at a nearby clanmate. "Catch!" It rolled a little but it seemed catchable to her.

/ rolled a 10 to catch, followed by a 9 to throw

The black smoke tom grooms his fur, cleaning himself up from finishing a meal. It's been a difficult few weeks here in SkyClan— it's far too cold for his liking, and prey hasn't been the easiest to find. So, the tom felt grateful tonight; thanks to the patrols that came back with a nice amount of prey for the clan to feast on. The tom stretches his paws and yawns; cats chatter and eat all around him, but his eyes feel heavy. Perhaps he could retire early for the night— might as well catch up on some sleep, right?

Copia begins to make his way over, and Copia raises an invisible eyebrow as Hawkspine briefly vanishes into the den with a little pep into his step. The young warrior re-emerges, with a ball of moss in his jaws, and Hawkspine quickly exclaims, swiping at the moss ball. It seems to catch Howlfire by surprise, and he briefly watches her fumble with it. She gives Hawkspine a wry grin, and Copia feels surprise as her gaze lands onto him. "Catch!" The lead warrior exclaims, and he suddenly has to set aside his thoughts on sleep. The moss bounces on the earth, but the tired tom catches it quite easily. His tail swishes back and forth, and he briefly looks over at Howlfire. "Ha! Is that all you got?" He teases, before his mismatched eyes fall onto another clanmate. "Act fast, heh!" He swats at the ball, and it does not bounce or roll. It's a nice throw overall, but not as good as Copia would've liked.

SORRELSONG

♥ ♥ ♥ ♡ ♡
Prey still warm on her tongue, movement draw's the huntress's eyes up to the moss ball. Her body rumbles with a purr watching the game unfold with lazy eyes. Thank the stars they were getting a rest from everything. Leaf-bare had been harsh - harsh then she remembered. The ground had recently been wrapped in a blanket of white - horrible at first but in the end it yielded a surprising boon of prey. The Stars work in mysterious ways.
Though the cold worked its way up her pelt, the molly couldn't help but let the sight in front of her strike the hot iron of pride growing in her chest. Sky Clan would be okay. A great weight cautiously eased its way off her shoulders as she traced the moss ball's path through the air. Smiling as Howlfire punts it into the air she finds herself relaxing.
Muscles unspool as Copia hits the ball, then tighten again as the molly springs forward, eyes tracing the ball. Like the trained hunter she is, she reaches out with a deadly paw, it's placement sure and steady. A game sounded like a great way to unwind! But perhaps I should've taken a bigger break before jumping into it.
She watches with sinking horror as she tears apart the air above the ball. Her lips curl inwards as the moss ball drops on her paw, bounces in just the perfect angle for it to roll 'out of bounds'. Ah.
Frozen for a second, Sorrelsong's head dips low as she retrieves the ball and carefully tosses it back into the game, cheeks aflame. As she hurries off to the shadows, laughing softly at the situation. Perhaps she should've listened to Fireflyglow and taken a break!

Cherrykit had been more of a "sit around and play pretend" kit than one who launched herself into athletics (climbing barely counted). Doomkit and Plaguekit had been more than willing to rope her into scuffles, but those really hadn't been as often as she likes to say they'd been. Maybe her lack of willingness to play mossball would explain why she sucked so hard at catching birds.

Hawkspine was something of a frivolous furball to her, but there was truly nothing else to do tonight. For once, SkyClan is settled and provided for. When the mossball rolls to her, courtesy of a chuckling Sorrelsong, she rests a paw on it and for a moment does nothing. Part of it is to mentally recover for the slight fumble in doing so, but part of it is something else entirely.

This is something Edie would do. They'd toss it around with the clan's kittens and make a fool of themself, to all the kits' high-pitched delight. Her heart thumps loudly, almost painfully. Cherryblossom gives the mossball a solid slap, and it easily careens away from her. She tries not to wonder where they are or what they're doing.

ooc: 10 for catch + 13 for throw!
