camp LIGHTHOUSE ON THE SEA 𓆝 π“†Ÿ π“†ž cleaning

Hooked metal attached to string dangle carefully between claws as Moonbeam sit with paws within the water, ears pinned to head as tail lashed out behind her in frustration. She'd spoken to Pinekit once the other was healed enough to walk without worry of injury opening up, a question of where she'd gotten injured and she had been quick to move towards the river and point out where the fish had been, where the injury had began and quickly the trained eyes of the medicine cat had seen the odd glint in the water as the fishing hook caught the sun. As soon as it had been seen she had thanked Pinekit and sent her off and gotten to work.

Dirty moss from bedding freshly cleaned from the dens sit along the bank of the river, and carefully Moonbeam moved with the hook to place the dangerous thing within the bedding. "Can I have some warriors and apprentices help please?" She'd speak out into the camp before carefully guarding the sharp object from paws that wandered too close. "We need to clean up some of the twoleg trash that's been getting stuck near camp, anything dangerous should go into the dirty moss so that it can be wrapped and buried so that it can't hurt anyone else... be careful but if you get hurt please tell me right away." It was unlikely for everyone to come out unharmed, even with the warning of the danger.

"Oh! Me! Me! Let me help, Moonbeam!" Turtlepaw's cry was loud and eager as she rushed to the scene, skidding on the wet soil and nearly falling over. Her grin was wide across her face and her paws were eager to move. The apprentice waited for no further instruction and dove beneath the water. Her body was growing stronger each day, and the slow current only gently tugged at her pelt. Swimming had become an easy task for her, and she did not take it for granted. Every chance she got she was in the water pushing through with strong, wide paws.

A shimmer, not like fish scaled, glinted below her and Turtlepaw pushed deeper. A green shine - like her eyes - caught the sun's rays and beckoned her forward. She quickly grasped it in her jaws and surfaced. Turtlepaw moved her tongue over the edge of the thing and felt a quick pain. Yowch! It had an edge! She sucked air in through her nose and paddled toward Moonbeam. "Look at this! It's sharp, but really pretty," she mumbled around the object. She deposited it at the medicine cat's feet, turned quickly, and sprinted back to the water for more.

"Turtlepaw, waitβ€”" But the words haven't finished leaving Snakeblink's maw that his apprentice is already underwater, digging in the silt for twoleg trash. Snakeblink heaves a sigh, half fond and half weary, before turning to Moonbeam.

"Do not hesitate to direct us if you see anything from here. We areβ€”" His fur ruffles with the breeze kicked up by his apprentice's lightning quick passage, or so he imagines; she's there and gone so quick, leaving her glittering offering, she ought to kick up a cloud of dust "β€”at your service," he finishes wryly.

That said, Snakeblink turns on his heels and sinks into the river, paddling in the shallows while his eyes seek any foreign object. The task keeps his mind busy, off the irritation towards the twolegs that invade their territory, and the coolness of the water goes a long way to keep his mood up.

Something comes to bump against his neck β€” a stick, he thinks, before noticing the strange softness of it, the unnatural orange color. He picks it up between his teeth to carry it back to shore. His jaws tighten on the damp thing briefly as he hoists himself on the sand and he grimaces as a noxious, bitter taste floods his mouth.

"You have to wonder what they do with those things," he hisses, spitting it out.

the shore seems to dirty further with each passing day out in the meadowlands ; unnatural colors, vivid and rigid - edged littering their territory embarrassingly along the borders. she can feel only a solemn frustration beneath her coiling pelt. pinekit had gotten hurt by twoleg muck strown now close to camp, the smattering of trash lodging itself between their rocks and in the lichen that tangles over their riverlined boundries. when she leaves the tortoiseshell kitten's side -- curiosity drawning her where moonbeam had wandered -- shellpaw finds the medic standing lash - tailed in the shallows with a sheening silver coil hanging from her teeth. a frown pulls at her maw, her call only further perking lilac ribboned ears, drawing long eyebrow whiskers in concern. was there more? here?

turtlepaw and snakeblink approach quickly, the former taking a dive into the waters with a characteristic flippancy shellpaw does not have. she finds the waterside with a sniff of indignation. gleaming bits catch her eye but it is turtlepaw that draws her final attention, quickening her step to brushing against the elder apprentice's side in what she hoped comes off as a friendly, empathetic way instead of the nosy intent she had lingering just beneath that inherent worry. " sharp? did it hurt you? " flutterbeat tone, soft and lilting beneath a slightly heavier breath from her brief sprint. she thinks of pinekit's bite, the blood that smeared its way from the riverside and sits there still, dried and scuffed over with dirt.

turtlepaw seems to be fine enough.. so ruddy eyes begin to linger towards her 'catch', giving a close and blatant sniff at its gleaming side once dropped at moonbeam's paws. snakeblink approaches shortly after with a short, white stick -- she goes to sniff it. it reeks, a short retch billowing up her throat as she jerks back, " ew, ew, ew.. yuck. " her ears lower, swallowing hard against a sudden nervousness in her throat, " me and pinekit seen, um.. a twoleg the other day. a little way down the river.. stealing fish with a big stick. maybe this is supposed to be for.. that, too. " she nudges it with her paw. its soggy. she can't imagine how it must've tasted, " for getting the, uh.. fish. dead. " maybe snakeblink would be okay, though. probably.

Twolegs sucked! She hated how they treated her river with such disrespect polluting it with their weird trash as if their very presence near the river wasn't bad enough. Already a kit had been hurt by the sharp leftovers they'd left behind and that only fanned the flame of her ire towards the naked-skinned-tall-ugly beasts! Moonbeam had already collected a couple eager apprentices and Snakeblink to help and Tigersplash would join them in the effort to clean up what should've never polluted the shores in the first place. As she comes closer her eyes flitter to what's already been collected, two of those sharp metal like talons lay in the dirty moss already, the warriors nose wrinkles. "Frog-guts and fish scales! If I didn't have any sense I'd give those twolegs a piece of my mind and some rakes they wouldn't soon be forgetting!" she announces her head shaking and her tongue briefly sticking out. She'd never be able to sadly, the risk of fighting them was too great she's heard stories of them taking cats forcefully and stealing them from their homes where they'd never return either to be eaten or to become a kittypet. Both were horrible fates!

As she comes into the shallows herself, shuffling her paws in the silt her ears perk at Shellpaw's meow. They were taking their prey too! Why she oughta! Her tail would plume out but she's quick to relax it not wanting to look the least bit intimidating well not just as a way to not scare the young apprentices because well that look was not very dignified and pretty. "That's a smart observation, just shows how freaky Twolegs are. Guess these things are the twoleg replacement for our claws" she remarks, her paws hit something foreign and she'd scoop it up. It had a similar feel to the hooks but was bigger and more round. It looked crushed but there was an opening at the front of it that looked sharp. She'd struggle to move it, eventually finding a way to pick it up in her jaws to carry to the dirty moss.

"They'll never be as skilled as Riverclan is at catching fish though, don't you fret" she says as if Shellpaw was. She looks like she's gloating, her chest puffed upand a gleam in her eyes. Before she walks back into the shallows she casts a look Moonbeams way "Tell me when you want me to start digging holes to bury this mess in and i'll be on it quicker then a crow on carrion!"

Twoleg trash always seemed to be a problem. Did these beings not know how to clean up after themselves? Did they expect magical faeries to whisk it away? Who knows, though as Moonbeam calls out for help around camp they perk their ears up. Suppose they werent doing anything right in that moment, just lazing in the sunlight, and the camp could use extra paws. Though it seemed like Snakeblink and Turtlepaw trot over to help, and he wonders what they find as they disperse with Turtlepaw exclaiming about sharp and pretty. This peaks their interest and theyre standing up on their paws, heading over as Shellpaw sniffs whatever it was that Snakeblink had found.

Magpiepaw approaches quietly and looks around the group for a moment before making their way around as well. What else could be found? Maybe something like a bone or shiny object? They werent sure but they moved past the others to paw through something that pokes out of a reed bed. Its bright yellow, with as big red spot on one side and it reeks of something sour. Though it is bright red and there is also something yellow stuck to it as well- its soft when they paw at it.

With a small huff, they take it between their teeth and pull away before sitting back to look down at their- thing. Its thin, wrinkles and does not seem appeasing at all. What even is this used for? They look to the group with a furrowed brow, "Does all twoleg trash stink or something? This seems to be a common theme"

"Speech"

Of A Monster

She was glad for the help, even if the help meant getting splashed as Turtlepaw enthusiastically dove into the water to dig out trash - something Moonbeam never thought she'd see from anyone let alone an apprentice. It brought a smile to her face to see that despite current events they could still have fun with it. When the younger feline brought out the trash and mentioned how pretty it was the medicine cat would look, nodding her head in agreement. "I wonder if they threw it out because it was dangerous to them too, unless they don't like pretty things." She'd muse before moving back into the water herself to gather more of what she could find.

As Snakeblink brought out his own trash she'd look to him with gratitude before Shellpaw looked towards it and mentioned how it could be something used to get the fish dead and quickly she'd look to the lead warrior once more before eyes would flick away. "If it is used for that I'm sure it just works on fish, we should be careful about eating any of the ones that twolegs have messed with." The recent findings of the net trapping fish flicker in her mind and a soft frown places itself on her maw for just a moment before more clanmates showed up.

Tigersplash tells her to just say when the trash needed to be buried and she thinks for a moment before answering. "If we could get the more dangerous stuff rolled into the moss and buried outside of camp we can do that in smaller piles so that they're not all buried where they could be easily dug up... some of the smaller things we could probably move down stream once it's all collected and send it back to the twolegs at the edge of the territory down the river if we wanted... less holes to dig." They weren't WindClanners after all, and Moonbeam wasn't sure she'd want to be. Magpie paw comes in and digs up a weird thin thing and Moonbeam lets her own nose wrinkle slightly as she watches the apprentice mess with the red and yellow stuff. "Maybe twolegs can't smell and that's why so much of their stuff stinks." She'd offer as a response, it'd explain why they didn't seem to be bothered when the moors had caught on fire.

Ferngill had always been a collector- he'd an eye for the unusual, so the task of picking up Twoleg trash didn't seem too complicated. Though he was revolted by a lot of the stuff... for everything those gangling creatures had done to RiverClan, it seemed they still weren't finished... the ginger tom had been eager to offer himself up to accompany the patrol, hating vehemently the idea of any of their junk slicing into the skin of his kin or any of their denmates. The river and its shore were meant to be a safe haven, a beacon for the kittens of the Clan... hidden harm within the water would not be tolerated, even by a patient soul.

Ferngill's nose wrinkled up, but he laughed at Moonbeam's little notion that Twolegs couldn't smell. "Y'know, I think you're right," he chuckled, wading into the shallows with silken ease. Turtlepaw brandished something sharp, Snakeblink something blunt, Magpiepaw something with a foul odor. Shellpaw's theorising, too, earned a nod from Ferngill- though he set his attention on a flapping object half-submerged. Six rings, evenly spaced... it looked very easy to get your head stuck in. Carefully- and with some disgust evident on his face- Ferngill plucked it from where it was wedged, and picked his way over to Tigersplash.

"Choking hazard," he murmured to her, nose wrinkled. "Next time I see one I'll send you to attack it." He was only half-joking. Looking to Moonbeam, his eyes traced to the moss... weighting the flapping thing down with a rock, he placed it down.

Moonbeam asks for help cleaning up the waters around their camp... And thankfully, Salmon just so happened to have a clear schedule until later on in the day and so the dawn-pelted molly moves to help.

Cats converse quietly to one another and to be quite honest, its a little peaceful to be surrounded by her clanmates all working on something... Turtlepaw catches something transparent and sharp, Snakeblink finds something that vaguely reminds her of the stench of the marshes... Something slightly nostalgic. Shellpaw asks if the sharp thing hurt Turtlepaw and eyes flit up to look. To her relief, Turtlepaw seems uninjured... Magpiepaw finds a weird piece of... something, and Ferngill a weird ringed thing... creature? Whatever it was, it looked dangerous.

And like he said- choking hazard. Thank the Stars he snagged it before a kit did...

Something floating on the water catches her attention and shes quick to paw it towards her, inspecting it. Theres a little thing near the entrance that looks flimsy, almost as if she could pry it off with a claw... And its shiny. But as she puts weight on it, it slightly crushes beneath her paw. Odd... Twolegs never failed to annoy her and she moves to bat it towards the growing pile of twoleg things. "Hopefully they're gone soon... I'm getting tired of this..." she says to everyone and no one in particular.

She doesn't remember last newleaf being this heavy on twoleg activity.

"FATE IS A SUNDRESS" ˚୭ .ΰ³ƒβ€βž· tags ── TRASH CLEAN-UP has been a reliable part of Dizzypaw's days since Twoleg prevalence started getting worse. The waxing of Greenleaf, she's heard, will always see some movement from Twolegs, but there comes a point where it feels as though it oversteps a boundary where there had once been one. It worries her, but she tries to push that worry from her mind; it is not her problem to deal with. An apprentice may only do so much.

But an apprentice can help the clean-up effort, so decrees Moonbeam. Dizzypaw tries to ignore gnawing discourage as she watches others slip to and from the water, each with their own scores; is there really so much that each can find something different from the other? Again, she tries very hard to bury the idea that this is bad, and instead focuses on conversation, watching her step, and slipping into the water.

The river envelops her body such as a down covering. It is a cool and comforting thing - though she knows that it can be cold and frosting. It's hard to make of that when so completely relaxed in a warm breeze. Dizzypaw is so preoccupied in her thoughts that she almost misses the shock of white and red buried in the mud. Now, what's this?

She beaches to work at pulling the item from the soft mud. She finds that it's a... weird combination of soggy and damp, yet held still together? The shape is tall, somewhat round... Something that resists the water tops the item. Dizzypaw decides that it's so terribly curious - before she somehow folds the item, busts off the top piece, and watches brown water rush forth. It flows back into the river, becoming one with the water... Dizzypaw breathes a little sigh and hopes it wasn't poison.

She brings her two pieces back across the river to Moonbeam all the same. In attempt to wrap the item in the provided moss, she discovers that the main body piece can be further folded to compress... interesting. What would Twolegs use this for? "Some sort of container...?" is breathed to the self. Maybe that brown stuff was some sort of Twoleg herbal remedy, and this is used to store medicine? Hmm...

The call from their fellow medicine cat had attracted the spotted tabby to the commotion of her peers and baby sibling. They were all committing to cleaning up their home who was thrashed by the influx of twolegs, and the sight brought a soft smile to her face. Riverclan was like a giant family and they all worked together to help each other and their home, and everyone respected each other for the exception of some sour rotten apples (cough, Midnightpaw). She finds her way over and observes all the currently collected items which all varied in size, scent and shape and a fictional eyebrow raised in curiosity. Twolegs had a lot of strange things.

Her focus eventually turns to the riverbed and she spots something floating along the current before getting caught in the reeds, slowing before coming to a gentle rock in position. Her dark ears twitch as she uses a paw to fish out the strange object similar to something Dizzypaw found, except thicker and smaller in form. Troutsnout brings it to the shore and gives it a sniff, her ears instantly pinning back and her lips parting at the strong scent that soured her nose. Dear Starclan! The warrior blurts mentally, using a paw to cover her nose to cool her strong nose off for a moment.

The smell of the cup was sour and strong, yet smelt good in some sort of manner. Regardless of what it was, it was trashing her home and completely soured her nose with its aroma. "I don't suggest smelling this," Trout would murmur to the group as she places the container with other non-dangerous objects they've collected so far from the twolegs. It seemed like they would be here forever collecting all the meaningless litter that twolegs tossed into the waters and in their territory, an direct insult to nature and the gifts brought by it.

As far as troublesome duties go, there are far worse things to be stuck doing then cleaning the camp - even if they do have to deal with the awful stench of twoleg rubbish. Mismatched eyes blink slowly as she nods, taking Moonbeams instructions in in silence. She's a quiet girl after all - for all that she'd once been cheerful and rambunctious, it'd seemed like most of the life had drained from her with her parents deaths. The only time she smiles was around her siblings. Instead, she sits beside Magpiepaw, giving a nocommital hum to his words - truthfully, not all of it smells and, just... sharp. Strange. Unfamiliar.

It's during her musings, idly ignoring the ramblings of the others, that she spots something interesting to fish out from the waves - yellow and blue eyes widening in surprise. It's hard and sleek, like a shell, but shiny like scales and the sun glinting off of the river. At first, she thinks it to be a strange sort of fish - except, it clearly isn't alive. It's still, and cold, and doesn't smell right - as though it was never alive. " What is it? " she asks, nudging her sibling as she holds it out in upturned paw.
