camp LOST IN THE ILLUSION [★] MEETING

Each of the to-be warriors steps forth and pledges their loyalty to their leader, to their clan; golden eyes narrow as they receive their full names. New warriors are a blessing, as always, but Scorchstreak finds her mind wandering as new names are bestowed upon the group of young cats. Her own kits are growing fast, approaching warrior age at the speed of a racing hare. It feels like only yesterday that she and Badgermoon were giving their litter their very first names; she wonders what her kits’ final names will be. Will there be a Luckystar, a Froststar? She can only hope for her children to have such accomplishments, can only hope to feel such pride in them.

The names that Sootstar gives to WindClan’s newest warriors are powerful, all of them deserving of such striking second parts to their names. And when all is said and done, the calico’s voice joins the rest of her clan in cheering for their clanmates. "Honeybadger! Sedgepounce! Goldenstrike! Foxglare! Sunflowermask!" Once the cheers fade out, there is yet another young cat called forward, this one a mere kit. Redkit seems so small, so nervous, stationed as he is before their mighty leader, and Scorchstreak can understand such nerves. She, too, had once stood in that same place, awestruck as she received a promotion. A smile crosses her face, recalling the day that her own kits had been assigned to mentors; who will be this young one’s mentor?​

"Redkit, you have reached the age of three moons and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you recieve your warrior name, you will be known as Redpaw." Her gaze is frozen on the new apprentice, only lifting in search of the newly named mentor. "Your mentor will be @VENOMSTRIKE . I hope Venomstrike passes on all he knows onto you." She dips her head to the warrior, he's proven his worth within WindClan and was ready to train his first apprentice. The clan erupts into cheers, congratulations to both Redpaw and Venomstrike could be heard. Once the clan began to quiet she flicks her tail dismissively, "That is all for today."

Silence filled the space inside him as he stared up with continued disbelief. Sootstar pressed on, and Redkit—no, Redpaw's heart skipped several beats. Slowly, the shock wore off, and joy rippled in waves throughout his entire being. Greedily, he soaked in the new name and resounding praises. Redpaw. My name is Redpaw! If it weren't for the multiple pairs of onlookers, he would've yowled for joy, but he kept it under control. Another hidden part of himself mourned the absence of his parents. Unfortunately, he couldn't even conjure up their names, much less their faces, at that very moment.

However, when he looked out through the throng of gathered cats, all he spotted was the proud glint in Venomstrike's stare. His chest felt lighter when gazing at the cat who found him. You're who I should worry about looking around for. Happiness bloomed alongside his internal monologue and gave him ample strength to push the painful thoughts to the back of his mind.

Once more, an expression of surprise melted into elation as the leader elected that very tom as his mentor. Gratitude filled him and he gave a quickly nodded thank you to the grey she-cat above. Alas, he could no longer hold back the excited 'mrrph!' escaping his throat as he rushed back to Venomstrike's side, aiming to give the older feline a playful nudge. While the roar of the crowd ceased, he allowed himself a charismatic shout. "Woo-hoo!" Now, with an added spring in his step, he hurried away upon dismissal, impatient and giddy to begin his training.​
