⋆ 。° ✩ He's out on a night patrol - his favorite, of course. It's far easier on his eyes and his head, and the peace brought by wandering beneath the stars cannit be understated. Normally, Cricketpaw would enjoy such a thing more, but the lingering stink of twolegs has her on edge. She keeps her head high, whipping around at any sound - and that is her mistake.

The sound of footfalls draws Cricketpaw's attention, only to be met with a burst of bright light flooding their vision. It is as the sun had been stolen from the sky, held in the paws of the very beast she had been hoping to avoid. "Ah - !" yelps the apprentice, whole body jolting in a startle. He skitters away spiderlike on overlong limbs, blinking blinded eyes in the dim. A thin bit of brush is where the apprentice makes respite, beckoning with a tail for the rest of the patrol to follow. It had seen her, and her limbs are shaky as she folds them as best she can into the hiding place. "Damned twoleg nearly blinded me - what was that?" She hisses lowly, back twitching restlessly as if to repel some phantom touch. Her head jerks side to side to survey the area; she can still see the beam of light the twoleg carries sweeping across the sand.

𓆝 . ° ✦ Mosspool felt less comfortable on this patrol than usual, the twoleg stink that permeated the air kept her on edge. Her whole body was tense and ready to leap into action the moment she heard Cricketpaw's cry and saw the sudden burst of light out of the corner of her eye. Whipping around, she saw the apprentice leap into a bush and raced toward him, intending to put herself between him and the twoleg. By the time she arrived at his side, however the twoleg had already turned away.

Cricketpaw asked what had made all that light, and Mosspool had no answers for him. "Only the stars know." She muttered under her breath, her eyes still trained on the light swaying in the distance, ensuring it did not turn back on them. her bristled fur only calmed when moments passed and the light did not find them, but it did not vanish either. Her ear flicked. This twoleg had already made a mess of her patrol, and now they were right in the way.

He never minded night patrols, preferred them where sleep invaded his flailing grasp, unable to do anything until he willed his mind to shut up or he worked himself raw and exhaustion pulled him into a fitful sleep. It was something. Not healthy, but his eyes closed. That counted, right?

He blinked, helm tilted, far too lost in his thoughts about what counted as actual sleep to notice the bright light until Cricketpaw yelped, startling the warrior into puffing, hackle rising in retaliation, Dawnstorm whipped around with a crinkled muzzle. His lips formed a soft ‘o’ shape at the waving light, helm bouncing, following the strange floating light. Has StarClan come to haunt them? He raised his back paw, shuffling awkwardly after the initial scare because he stepped into some haunted place he hadn’t noticed.

He had given little thought to hide, confusion filtering across deadpan features until he shuffled over, hearing the apprentice’s hiss of twolegs did realization dawned on him. Oh. Not scary ghosts. Okay. He glanced wearily ahead where the light dimmed, echoing footfalls reaching his swiveling ears with a muffled hum. Did they kidnap someone from StarClan? Dawnstorm merely blinked in thought, helm turning to stare at the two. “Let’s go.” He rumbled, helm tilting away from thumping feet, brow creased. In hindsight, Dawnstorm didn’t want to deal with the potential thought of another being kidnapped, even if his curiosity spiked at the odd light glittering through the undergrowth, basking the night in luminescence like the flickering stars.

Foxtail trudges along with the patrol, his eyes feeling tired. Out of all the patrols he can go on, tagging along in a night patrol is one of his least favorites. Compared to the day, or even a dusk/dawn patrol, they are completely surrounded by darkness. Sure, their eyes are made for the night.... but the night is dead quiet. He misses the songs from the birds, the buzzes from the insects... to name a few. All the things that make the day so lively is missing at night, and padding through the territory at such a late time feels so.... ominous to the young warrior. I hope this is over quick, Foxtail thinks to himself as he pads along, ears pricked up with alert.... his fur bristled at the back of his neck. The twoleg situation has made it beyond stressful to traverse through territory.... the darkness that cloaks the sky only adds onto that.

His fur bristles more as Cricketpaw's cry reaches his ears, and as he looks over at the apprentice in alarm, a bright flash of light floods into his eyes. He recoils at the sudden light, leaping out of the way, and out of the twoleg's line of sight. He blinks as his pupils relax from the sudden burst of light, and his ears prick as the footsteps get further and further away. He looks over his shoulder to make sure his apprentice is by his side, and rejoins Cricketpaw, Willowroot, and Dawnstorm with bristled fur that has only somewhat relaxed. "Let's go." He gives a nod in agreement to the former ripple colony cat, who knows what that thing was. He doesn't like that the twolegs are out this late.... why aren't they resting in their nests? It feels like they don't give RiverClan any kind of break. "Let's n-not stick around to find out," The young warrior suggests, his bushy tail swishing nervously behind him.

The stench of Twoleg whiffed into his nose, and he scrunches his nose up at the smell. He had never minded night patrols, he quite enjoyed them since the bothersome sun wasn't around. Half-lidded eyes blinked slowly, as he followed his patrol with a sweep of his plumy tail.

Muscles tense underneath his feathered form, he whipped his head towards Cricketpaw's cry. He recoils at the bright flash of light flooding his eyes, he lets out a hiss of irritation at the burning sensation in his odd-colored eyes. Arghh, Shit! Fogshore flicked his ears downward, as he fled away from the Twoleg's sight after Foxtail. He pauses while he blinks his eyes for a moment, before looking over at his patrol mates relaxing his fur.

Hearing large footsteps go further and further away, from where the patrol is catching their breath. He glances at his patrol mates, then lets out a tired sigh in agreement with Foxtail's suggestion. "Yeah, Let's get out of here."

Splashpaw might find night patrols - or even nighttime guard - to be her favorite positions throughout the day. Whilst she grows used to the sunlit spots on her now usual paths, she cannot shake the comfort of the shadows just yet. She slinks along, a child of the night, and looks about with near-to-no issue. Her ears curve backwards, however, when Cricketpaw yelps and the patrol is called to action. Splashpaw likes to think the twoleg must've gotten scared to see the whole lot of them - but she also thinks of those lost to them because of the twolegs, and decides not to voice her silly idea.

Her paws pick up pace slightly, and she tries to walk in stride with the older Cricketpaw. "Hey -" she greets, her tone still lowered, "I can guide'ya until you can see again. I..." The thunderpath used to blind her nightly, with the monsters barreling down it. But again she holds her tongue, "I've got some experience. If that's cool?" Some of the apprentices seem to care less about her, while others seem more violent; Splashpaw takes her chance but hopes she's not seen as overstepping.
