    wolf thorn
named wolf for the strength that his mother hoped he would display in life ; named thorn for the sharp bite that his words sometimes hold, and for the wild spikes of his pelt
    — warrior of thunderclan; former pine group member
    — male, he/him; afab
    — 51 moons / ages every 1st

the perfect picture of a thunderclan warrior, wolf thorn’s broad build and thick fur speak of maine coon heritage. he is ruggedly handsome and built like a tank, with wide paws and a rich caramel colored pelt, swirled through with chocolate stripes. his dull copper eyes speak of deep wisdom, and linger on the smallest of details. his form is scarred and torn, weathered from years of fighting and surviving.

wolf thorn’s trust does not land easily upon the shoulders of others, holding his expectations high to shield himself and his clan from threats. he keeps to himself, enjoying his privacy by secluding himself up in a tree most nights and avoiding the warriors’ den like the plague. he is friendly enough toward outsiders, but is not necessarily eager to greet anyone not of his clan. he values loyalty above all else, and tends to take on a defensive stance in both battles and arguments; he does not wish to cause more harm than necessary, if there is no option other than confrontation. he is a prickly tom both in appearance and personality, with a short temper and a tendency to snap when overwhelmed. he hates being touched; he will not offer physical comfort to others, and makes it known that he refuses physical contact from anyone.

  • backstory / simplified history
orphaned at a young age, wolf thorn has not known support for the majority of his life. he was on his own, a 6 month old child left to defend and raise his barely-weaned siblings; he dedicated his childhood to them, rather than to himself. the three of them lived in the forest for years, and as his siblings grew wolf thorn taught them to hunt and fight—and on occasion, to steal prey from others when they were desperate. when thunderclan moved into the territory, though, his siblings set out on their own, pushed from their home. wolf thorn remained, though, determined not to leave the only place he’d ever called home.

now a warrior of thunderclan, wolf thorn misses his younger siblings and struggles to find his place within the cooperative nature of his clan.

POSITIVE TRAITS: protective, loyal, trustworthy, honest
✧ NEUTRAL TRAITS: confident, suspicious, quiet, unemotional, reckless
✧ NEGATIVE TRAITS: aloof, stubborn, unforgiving, self-sacrificial
— orphaned at a young age, burdened with the responsibility of raising both himself and his brother, thorn has never had anyone else to look out for him—and he intends to keep it that way. the first impression most have of thorn consists of silent judgement and a complete lack of trust. he is very slow to extend his trust to anyone besides his family; he can be friendly, but never lets his guard down too much. a seemingly permanent grimace sits on his muzzle most days, his most simple defense against unwanted conversations. he tends to be distant and unemotional, forever careful not to reveal too much of what goes on beneath the surface. thorn is the type to never back down from a challenge, far too stubborn and too uncaring for his own safety to mind a few more scars. he carries himself with an air of self-confidence about him; deserved confidence, given his numerous battle scars, but he is practically unbearable when he knows that he’s won an argument. he is often quiet in conversations, either attempting to slip away unnoticed or trying to calculate the motivations of others. he is not the most intelligent or strategic feline, but he is quick-witted enough to think on his paws and get himself out of a few sticky situations. he is driven by the need to be useful to his clan as a whole, and often pushes himself too far in his attempts to find his niche of usefulness.

  • Thorn is a ground-type gym leader with a team that’s varied enough to put up a good fight, despite usually being the third gym leader new trainers will encounter on their journeys. Since it is a monotype team, Thorn’s team is easily walled and destroyed by grass and water types, but Thorn has a few tricks up his sleeve to make his chances better.
  • First onto the battlefield, Thorn’s Claydol isn’t the most intimidating lead Pokémon. With Reflect, Light Screen, and a held Light Clay, it can set up the rest of its team for massive success, but goes down fairly easily to super effective moves. After it’s set up screens, expect a Toxic-Protect stall until it goes down.
  • With an ability that lessens the damage of supereffective moves, Thorn’s Camerupt would be quite the tank if it weren’t 4x weak to water. It has both Flamethrower and Earth Power to deal damage, as well as Rest to keep up its health. Its held Chesto Berry will keep it from remaining asleep the first time it Rests, but it also knows the move Sleep Talk so that it can continue dealing damage even while resting.
  • Thorn has an absolutely nasty Gliscor with Poison Heal, equipped with a Toxic Orb to ensure that it begins healing as soon as the battle begins. With Swords Dance to boost its attack, Roost to heal even more, and both Earthquake and Facade to dish out damage, Gliscor is the main attacker of Thorn’s team. It is easily walled by levitating ghost types such as Gengar, though.
  • The draft horse Pokémon is pure ground type, making it a bit more straightforward to deal with than the rest of its team, but with its Stamina ability that raises its defense each time it’s hit, Mudsdale can become capable of tanking supereffective hits if not killed in one or two hits. It is a fairly straightforward attacker, packing Earthquake and Rock Slide. But it also employs a Toxic-Protect stall to gain passive healing with its held Leftovers.
  • A Seismitoad with Water Absorb can stop the momentum of water-type threats, while retaliating with Scald or Earthquake. Like some of Thorn’s other team members, Seismitoad knows Toxic, which can be devastating if one has no way to heal. It also has the entry hazard Stealth Rock, which is surprising given how late Seismitoad comes out into the battle, and it can recover passively using its held Leftovers.
  • Thorn’s ace is an Excadrill that will always set up Sandstorm on the first turn that it’s switched in. With the ability Sand Rush, its speed is doubled, and it can safely outspeed many threats. Excadrill packs Earthquake and Iron Head for damage, as well as Swords Dance to make its attacks really hurt.
