-ˋˏ ༻❁༺ ˎˊ- the young tabby is tired in ways that he didn't think was possible, but to be quite honest, he still is terrified of falling asleep. he worries that if he does, something will happen. maybe he'll miss something, or maybe he won't be there to save his friends. he can't sleep. so, he doesn't. he stays awake, as anxiety creeps around in his veins, leaving behind aches and pains in his joins and muscles. but he can't think about that, right now. he's got to train. he's been trying so hard to play catch up, and he knows that doepath told him not to compare himself to fadingpaw, but... he finds that he does anyways. why? because he just wants to be a good apprentice so that he may be a good warrior.

"hi, leafhusk. what are we doing today?"

uncharacteristically, his sentence is short. he doesn't want to annoy his mentor, but he does his best to keep a smile on his face as to not make it seem like he's less than fit for this. maybe he should have tried to sleep more than he did but he just couldn't sleep that much. his tail twitches before he looks ahead, following after the lead warrior.

"i haven't done a lot of battle moves since before i hurt my leg but if we aren't doing that, that's okay, too. i have been learning either way. thank you for being my mentor. I know it wasn't actually your choice but it still is very nice of you to mentor me. I will make up proud. I promise."

  • ORANGEPAW he/they, apprentice of thunderclan, 11 moons.

npc x npc // no known family. mother is deceased
peaceful and healing powerplay permitted / / underline and tag when attacking
not necessarily great in battle. semi easy to attack due to lack of experience alone.

two apprentices. both from different walks of life, different stages of their training. flamestar wanted to see her go gray cycles early, didn’t she? it’s just like bossing everyone around like in the loner lands, she tells herself. expect it’s only two cats that are under the age of thirteen moons. fadingpaw is meek but has the spirit of a warrior (one that respects her clanmates stars help her), while orangepaw smiles so much she figures it’s begun to hurt.

leafhusk tries not to worry about the citrus-toned boy. it’s difficult task when he hasn’t been the same since his accident. she is patient, she doesn’t push him hard, all to make sure he’s caught up. orangepaw asks what they’re doing today, and the lead warrior waits for him to continue his sentence. as the silence stretches on, she looks at him quizzically. then, he keeps talking as she anticipated. he’s nervous, awkward. the heart on his shoulder bleeds; leafhusk reminds herself there’s a lot of work to be done.

"it’s not a problem." she smiles, stopping in an open clearing. enough room to move around.

"you’re already making me proud, don’t worry. i’ll keep this simple, the both of us are out of practice… " her voice is light, "do some stretches for me. like this." she pushes out her forelimbs, one at a time. reminiscent of her days as a kittypet. really, she just wants to get a better idea on how he walks now. also— she spent half of last moon in the medicine den, watching orangepaw loiter around the outskirts to make sure gentlestorm was okay. she knows he’s been taking it easy.

-ˋˏ ༻❁༺ ˎˊ- he takes a moment and only just nods his head in response. she said she's proud of him already, and that does make him feel somewhat better about this. he's been working really hard to try to do that, to be a cat that others can be proud about. he doesn't know if he's doing well, but he at least has one cat, right? his eyes fall closed, and he begins to stretch, but even then he's unsteady in it. it's not his fault, really, he thinks. or perhaps it is. he is both not sleeping, and just not really good about balance in the first place. he's nearly warrior age, and he still trips over his paws like a silly clumsy kitten, and he's not sure he will ever have a steady center of balance. not that he's upset about it. does he even get upset? he doesn't try to.

his tail sways behind him, and he stands back up before he can fall over and embarrass himself. his ears twitch for a moment before he finally speaks, very quietly as if he will disturb her if he speaks loudly. despite his rambunctious attitude, he often isn't as loud as one might think.

"do you think I'll be a good warrior?"

he cant help but ask. it's been nagging him, and he just isn't good at keeping things in like that. not really. not unless it's his direct emotions but this was different. this was... something else, wasn't it?

orangepaw’s question is met with a frown. it’s so meek, quiet…a complete contrast to what he’s usually like. has anyone bullied him, or is he upset over the circumstances? she wonders, the injury that lead him to this point had been a horrible accident. "of course i do." she responds, brows knitting together in concern.

leafhusk went into this training session with an open mind. get some training done, see how rusty he is after recovery, encourage him to take it easy so he doesn’t fall into the medicine den again. with how he asks the question, though, it makes her hesitate. the lead warrior bites the inside of her cheek.

worry laces it’s way into her voice, "why would i think that?"
