Cats were dispersing, each leaving Fourtrees to follow their chosen leaders to their new homes. However, several cats remained, unsure of where to go. One group of them would huddle at the edge of the hollow, sitting close to each other with their heads together, hushed voices signalling they were having an important conversation. Among them was Howling Wind, the matriarch of the family. She had her preference on where to go, but she wanted to make sure her family would follow. They couldn't be divided. "The oak forest has plenty of prey, and the trees and brambles offer protection from hawks and eagles," She reasoned, green gaze flicking about the faces of her kin. Brown ears were pressed forward, interested to hear what they would say.

Being the oldest of all her siblings gave the ebony she cat a sense of responsibility, like she needed to protect her family, keep them close. She had known this conversation was coming when it had been announced that some cats were leaving Briars group. She had her own reasons for wanting to move, but she knew they would never agree to relocate to the pines, not after the viscous battle between the two groups. Her best bet, her chance of being closer to her friend, was the oak forest. She nods her head along with her mothers words, pretending to be nonchalant. She didn’t want anyone asking any questions about why she was so excited to go somewhere else. For now, she wanted Blaise to be just hers, she didn’t want to share with anyone else quite yet. “It would be a lot better than this swamp, a lot more prey for sure” she says matter of factly, and it was true. The swamps had left her wanting for food for a while now. If she had to eat one more toad, she may have a mental break. Many nights she had gone to bed with an empty belly or a foul taste in her mouth from eating the little prey their current marshland home had to offer

The groups moved with purpose, their destiny fulfilled, but Berry had not yet joined them- for he had a primary loyalty to his kin, to his mother. Where she went he would follow- he considered it the least he could do in gratitude for allowing him to be her son. He knew which Clan appealed to him most- with no prejudice toward their leaders, it was only the territory that he found himself considering. And there was a clear winner for his priorities.

The shade and sunlight mixed together in a deciduous forest would be sublime for relaxation potential- and to his expertly hidden delight his mother voiced her favour of ThunderClan's territory, though did not cite identical reasons. Protection from hawks and eagles- yes, he supposed that was an important factor in a home. They would be well hidden there- well protected, too. And as Shady voiced her distaste for the swamp, Berry nodded his head in agreement, a slow blink concealing his eyes for a few moments. There were a few moments of quiet as he thought on what there was to say- but eventually, he settled upon his words, well-articulated and slow.

"There will be plenty of comfortable spots, too. Especially in this weather." Thinking of being able to move between sunlight and shade without trudging half a mile was endlessly appealing- Berry had to seize his mind before it wandered into pleasant reverie.

Gray had been ushered to the edges of the clearing before he could make any rash decisions. The dark-furred tom settles beside Berry, swiveling his head to look between each of his family members as they murmur. So far, they're in favor of the oak forest - and Gray nods fervently. "It'll be a hell of a lot better than that damn swamp," he announces, maybe a bit too loudly, earning a few glances from a couple of outsiders still mingling in the clearing. They could stare all they want, though. Gray knows it to be true. "Imagine not having to clean the mud and stink off of your paws each night! It's perfect."

Well, almost perfect.

Gray shoots a glance towards the flame point she-cat who'd staked claim to the oak forest through the corner of his good eye. His fur bristles on instinct, his gaze narrowing. "Don't see why those kittypet bastards are allowed to lead a clan, though." What would happen during the rough moons of leaf-bare? Would Ember abandon her clan to run back home to her twolegs with her tail tucked?

Berry mentions that there'll be plenty of comfortable spots in the oak forest, and Gray's attention is drawn back onto him. He snorts, aiming to playfully nudge Berry's shoulder with his own. "Always thinking of the best napping places, huh, Berr?"

Howling Wind glanced from Little Wolf to Berry to Gray, feeling pleased that so far they all seemed to agree. However, an unsavory word from one of her youngest sons' mouths earned him a sharp look from his mother, and a thorny, "Language, Gray." But she couldn't stay bothered. A new life awaited them, and she found her gaze drawn towards the shadows hidden in the forest. An exhale would bring her to sit at her full height, feeling hopeful and proud. Her family would be safe there, away from the rats of the Carrionplace, where prey would be more plentiful. A smile tugged at her lips and she looked back towards her kits, waiting to see if anyone else had anything to add. At the moment, it looked like they had their answer.

Gray huffs at Howling Wind's scolding, but even he knows better than to argue with his mother. He glances over the rest of his siblings, opting to continue discussing the matter at had rather than address his foul mouth. There's been no objections to living in the oak forest so far, which is a relief for him. He doesn't want his family to be split up. "So, it's settled, then?" It must be; surely none of his family would want to stay in that dump?
