camp OLD HABITS DIE SCREAMING [evacuation]

༄༄ Racing across the moor is a strange feeling. The wind, warm and stifling, bristles through cropped fur and carries with it the scent of smoke. Dappled paws race over dry grass instead of damp dirt, and it feels somehow even more wrong than the fact that she is leading an enemy clan’s patrol into the heart of WindClan territory. Leading RiverClan directly to their camp seems a bad idea, but what else is she to do? Fires rage around them, closer now to camp than they had been when she’d left, and smoke chokes the air out of her lungs in the same way that her running does.

"Hang back a bit," she says to the RiverClanners as they draw nearer to camp. The guards stationed outside are offered a dip of her head and a short explanation as she passes them by, and then she steps through the heather tunnel.

She is a poor substitute for their sunlit leader, her pelt more akin to the flame that ruins their land and threatens their home. She feels set adrift without leadership, surely the same as the rest of her clanmates, but still she raises her voice to make her announcement. "WindClan. Our territory is on fire. Our camp is in danger. Our escape routes are blocked. But there is still an option." She pauses, taking a moment to choose her next words carefully. The warriors here will surely have a multitude of things to say about this, about her, but she can only hope that they will see reason. She would not blame them for adverse reactions—she has brought their judgment upon herself. She casts a swift glance to the RiverClan cats. "I would not have chosen this if we had another, safer option. But RiverClan…" the calico allows for any shouting to die down before she presses on. "RiverClan has agreed to help us. Our most vulnerable clanmates will take shelter across the river. Injured warriors, queens, kits, and elders. All of you, get ready to move."

Golden eyes seek out Rattleheart in the crowd, and then Periwinklebreeze. Her fellow lead warriors, each with their own reasons to acquiesce. But she does not dare look for her mate, could never stand to see disappointment or anger directed toward her from Bluepool’s eyes. Then she returns to the camp’s entrance, gesturing for the RiverClanners to enter.

༺♰༻ Smoke clings to Gravekit's lungs, crawling inside of them and spilling off their tongue ashen. The sky is red and they can feel it: the end, fast approaching. The tiny kit's chest rattles with every breath, and they will be buried beneath the earth in the graves and tunnels their mother so loves. They will be buried here, consumed by smoke and ash and it will be so sad that all the clan will weep.

Scorchstreak has other plans, it seems. Leaving. Leaving their home, the one that Gravekit has only known for half their life. The idea of it is as bugs crawling all over their smoke-tinged pelt. Nothing can ever stay, nothing is ever certain. Always fleeing, danger and death ever-approaching. They hate it, they hate it. They hate the fire and they hate the war and they hate Scorchstreak for making them move just when things were starting to feel familiar.

"What?" the kit squeaks, bulging eyes water and swimming with hurt confusion anger. "But - but I don't wanna go again," Will this become their new home? RiverClan, somewhere new and wrong? They have no options. Death or relocation; both seem equally terrifying to the kit, both unfamiliar and unwelcome. Why can't everything just be simple? Why does nothing ever happen the way it's supposed to? They shrink away as they see the "RiverClanners" approach the entrance of their home. "I don't... know these cats, don't - don't like them." They hate these cats, they hate the fire, they hate all of it.

The smoke was thicker further in, the acrid scent in the air was almost enough to make him gag but he maintained his disgruntled expression and let his lips curl in a grimace. Scorchstreak's bid for pause was met with a nod as he glanced back to his cats, feeling uncertain as to his choice still-had he made the right call, had he endangered his clan or had he earned RiverClan the right to lord this over WindClan later-he thinks of Shellkit who needed catmint and realizes this might lend itself to that as well if WindClan truly was changed as they so said. Surely a payment of herbs would be fine.
As the tunneler lead returns back and gestures for them to follow briefly he wonders where the dens are, surely this wasn't their camp-it was so strange? Tall grass and open skies, no shelter, holes riddling the edges diving into darkness. He didn't have time to ponder over the oddities of it all, shaking his head he addressed his patrol, "Kittens, queens and elders priority, ensure they get to the bridge before returning for more - Foxtail will take over there." He spots a kitten shrilly crying out, looking towards the older WindClanners present, "One of you lead my medicine cat to your herbs, she'll assist in saving what can be saved."
His lone amber eye moved to Scorchstreak, seeking direction - he had no idea where the rest of their kits and queens were, which area was the nursery? Where was their medicine cat den? What a confusing structure, if the place was not on fire he would ask out loud how they lived like this.

Scorchstreaks solution is... not one periwinklebreeze particularily likes. He has very little love for the water loving clan - not for the actions they've taken against windclans own, nor the way they'd chased his mother out of their territory simply for trying to warn him off. But... they're running out of time. Out of choices. While he hadn't exactly fought with the others, he's already voiced quite disagreement - desperation fueling his words, the urge to protect his kits, his sister, his nieces and nephews; his family, utterly overwhelming. And so while he stares with daggers from eyes at smokestar, he acquiesces to scorchstreaks choice.

" N-nighty - g-g-grab your kits... w-we're leaving, " he tells his sister, tone leaving no room for argument for once. He will not wait to see what choice the others in the clan make - stars, the ghost of sunstar himself could probably arrive in a blaze of glory warning them from going and he'd still make the same choice. To flee is to survive - and hadn't he said he'd live? If not for himself, then for them. Gravelsnap, Azaleafrost, Nightingalecry. And now, the kits. His kits.

Head swivels around, trying to find familiar shapes within the den. " B-bilberrykit, v-vulturekit... stick close. We're g-g-going to follow these cats, " he says, tone gentle as he moves to nudge them along. Dustkit is given far less choice in the matter. While his daughter might be a strong girl, she has never left the camp before - every pawstep will be a struggle, unfamiliar to her, and she won't be able to avoid obstacles and follow the others as easily. Instead, teeth grasp into her scruff, picking her up from the ground to carry her. There are more than just his kits, than just his sisters in the nursery - but with nine kits already in their care between the two of them, he can only hope rattleheart and the others can focus on the rest.

Suddenly, the abundance of new life no longer feels like quite such a blessing.

the large tom had been silent during the journey across the moor, unlike his usual self. the flames set a dangerous tone for the day, licking at the sky and grass that they couldn't help but devour further. not only that, they were currently headed into the belly of the beast. the camp where windclan made their home in a sandy hollow, reed couldn't help but feel a rigid bristle form along his back as they drew closer. he followed smokestar, along with the rest of the patrol, to where ever scorchstreak was leading them- who knows, it could be a trap. he trusted windclan as far as he could throw a pregnant badger, which wasn't very far to say the least. the tom trusted in his leader's judgement, despite how much he disliked the windclanners they were about to be surrounded by. how much of the clan was even okay with this? did they even know or were they all in on it? he had too many questions running through his mind but they all came to a harsh stop as scorchstreak told them to hang back, and hang back he did.

he could smell the dusty scent of the moor cats as scorchstreak plunged through a heather tunnel. the sheer amount of cats that came with that scent was a little intimidating. while reed prepared for the sight that lay inside, as he had never been this deep into windclan territory, he also prepared for the unfortunate possibility that this was a trap. the scarred tom flexed his claws into the thin grass several times, shredding whatever vegetation formerly lived beneath him, his body rigid and on edge. he hears scorchstreak's voice and incoherent words leave her mouth and some clear protests of resistance against whatever she was saying. so maybe it's not an ambush, reed thought, scoffing to himself, and then moving forward as scorchstreak suddenly beckoned them inside.

it was overwhelming, to say the least, to come face to face with an entire clan of cats, probably just as on edge as he was. they were an enemy patrol in the deepest, most vulnerable part of windclan's territory. as reed was confronted with a crowd of willowy moor cats, some kits, elders, and warriors, he bristled instinctively at the opposition they voiced towards the riverclan patrol. he bit back the urge to curl his lip in irritation, he couldn't believe that they had the audacity to complain about the help that they were being offered. the paw that was being extended to them. you're lucky we're even here, he bit back, amber eyes staring daggers across the clearing. then, smokestar spoke up and reed's ears pricked, realizing he now had a job to do. kittens, queens and elders priority, ensure they get to the bridge before returning for more.. his leader's command rung in his head as the dark tom strode towards the windclanners, towering over the kits he approached. reed had briefly considered helping an elder but he figured the kits had much longer to live and didn't really feel like slowly strolling with an decrepit windclanner who would chew his ear off in the moons it took to get to the beech copse. he definitely looked like an evil enemy riverclan warrior come to snatch them away, but there wasn't really time to coddle them, not with the flames nearing closer and closer. his muscles tensed at the fact that he was even doing this, but leaned forward anyway and aimed to grab a kit by the scruff. then, with a muffled growl, directed at the kit he held," you better not claw me," he spun towards the tunnel, heading towards the bridge.

// anyone can feel free to make this ur kit he grabbed, just pls tag this account if he grabs your kit!

𓆝 . ° ✦ Grasskit was pitiful. Heavy wheezing, nearly on the brink of another attack. The nursery being a full den was helpful to his lungs, filtering out the worst of the smoke. He heard Gravekit's whines from outside. He was so sleepy. The sky was dark anyway, he should sleep. Peri's voice cut through as well, waking him a bit. Was he angry? He never sounded so grim. The small tom didn't really even know what was going on. He was too out of it for the moment.

*+:。.。 Frightkit is more than used to cats coming and going into Windclan. Her 'Appa disappeared when the first batch of new faces came, then some more along the way like Kat, and PeriPeriPeri's litter, so it's nothing new to Fry. What is new is getting to be the new person herself! Although the scent of fear is palpable all around her, Frightkit simply can't understand it - for what's more exciting than a vacation? "you can't not like cats you haven't met yet, Gravekit! " Frightkit would say with a giggle, before immediately coughing. She's not a big fan of the way the smoke enters her lungs, but she does find the way the world has changed all around her very intriguing. The sky was an endless sunset, the air thick and tasting of all new flavors! Sure, her nose wouldn't stop watering, and her eyes burned, but it was the little, fun things you should focus on if you wanted to have a good time! For example - at least none of this was boring!

"Am I gonna get to see outside of camp? I wanna smell some flowers! Can I touch the fire? " Fry babbles, seemingly unperturbed by the occasional coughing fit. She looked around, wondering if any of the kits would want to play pretend patrol with her! Briefly, she glances at Grasskit, still weak from his bad cough earlier. She sighs, nudging him gently with her shoulder, "Want Mamma to carry you? I can go ask her? " she offers, hoping it'll get Grasskit to stop looking so dead.

Then, a stranger.

Across the "big puddle", a massive black cat stood. He looked nothing like Rattleheart or Snakehiss, built neither for tunnels nor endless sprints across the open landscape. Frightkit stared in awe at his missing eye, at the strength that radiated off him in the same way it had with Sunstar. "Hi! " she calls to him with a wave of her paw, small voice threatened to be washed away by all the other's, "are you Sunstar's brother? "

Before she could get an answer, though, a cat steps in front of her - this guy is massive! and promptly grabs her by the scruff. She lets out a chirp as @REEDSTRIKE holds her so high above the ground she swears she can touch a valley top if she wants to. He demands she doesn't claw him, but that just makes her giggle. "Okay, I promise! But can I ride on your back instead? I played Monster Attackk like that with my friend, Rattleheart - I'm Frightkit, by the way - and together, we got to be FrightHeart! Devourer of kits! Maybe you and I can be the patrol leader? And we can go eat all the fire! " she mews, before falling into another awful coughing fit.

Spitting out some black-tinged saliva, Fry peeked up at the stranger, "Are you gonna join Windclan? " Her excitement didn't ebb, but the long exposure outside of the nursery was slowly sapping away her strength, "you can't be a tunneler, but you'd be a really good moor-runner " she promises with a wheeze.

She had stuck close to Smokestar and his apprentices, practically pressed against whoever she could be nearest to on the way there, fur rising and eyes wide as they crossed over the bridge and went into WindClan territory. She had seen the territory at other angles before, walking along the edge of it to get to the moonstone every moon but this was something entirely different, walking through the territory as fire raged to one side while the gorge was to the other. The various thoughts of things that she did not know yet how to heal echoed in her mind, things she knew were bad and could cause cats to suffer and though the little band of RiverClanners weren't going near the fire - or at least she hoped that they wouldn't - she could only let those fears consume her the deeper into WindClan territory they trekked, ears pinned to head as she kept looking behind her to make sure they were still able to get out.

When they neared camp - and what a camp it was, without proper dens or coverings - she paused with the rest, looking to her leader for a moment before looking back to Scorchstreak as she emerged once more, motioning for them to enter and so quickly the small feline did with the others. Smokestar quickly spoke to have someone lead her to the medicine den, and so while she wait Moonpaw sought out the familiar pelts of Wolfsong or Cottonpaw, hoping that she'd be able to go to them immediately instead of having to be led to them by a third party.

The sky is hazy—its the sky Bilberrykit has come to know. Great pillars of smoke rise upwards, always upwards, until they are indistinguishable from the clouds. Bilberrykit leans against Periwinklebreeze, seeking comfort in the small touch, and swallows the sight with kitten-blue eyes. They were to go elsewhere: Bilberrykit was to stay near Periwinklebreeze. He would have, regardless of instructions.

That’s where clouds come,” Bilberrykit murmurs, “The smoke is where clouds come from. And the smoke-cats.

Vulturekit and Dustkit are his siblings: he’ll remember that. He’ll remember the story and he won’t get confused, just in case the smoke-cats try. He closes his eyes—hides his face against Periwinklebreeze’s flank. The smoke hurts to look at, after a time.

Smoke clings to the air around camp, ash clinging onto other of the older warrior's coats. The weather isn't what it used to be before, it's not sunny with clouds drifting overhead. The air was filled with grime. It tasted so gross on his tongue, he lets out a small gag escape from his dark maw at the overwhelming acrid stench. He was outside of the nursery, and his mama Frostpond was behind him her dark fluffy tail lashing in worry at the situation. His papa Spiderleap was near too, lurking near the nursery keeping an eye out. Where was Lambpaw? Where's his big sister? He hopes she's okay.

The young black smoke, stares at the newcomers that were following behind Scorchstreak. Who're they? He doesn't know them one bit. But Scorchstreak seems to be having other plans. Leaving..? Leaving their home behind. The only home Sheepkit has known since he was born. Why are we leaving?! WE CAN'T LEAVE...! He wants to throw a fit at the Riverclanners and the weird scent that clung to their pelts. "W-wha..I DON'T WANNA LEAVE!" He wails out, he hates the fire. He hates Scorchstreak, making him move from their home.

His plumed tail lashed across the dusty ground, as his large dark ears flatten against his skull. He lets a curve of his maw settle in a frown. The opposite of the usual bright, happy face he carries. Blue eyes blink at the Riverclanners, studying them from afar. Will Riverclan be their new home now? Riverclan, somewhere new and exciting.. but wrong to him. He was almost an apprentice, he wanted his first time out of camp to be his home. Not somewhere else he hasn't been to before!

He lets out coughs from his maw, hating the way the harsh coughs shook his body. He doesn't like it. He feels a nose touch his head, craning his neck up to blink at his Mama. He lets out a confused nonverbal mew up at her, then lets his head fall to look at his denmates being wrangled up they their parents. He hears his friend Frightkit let out giggles, when she gets picked up by one of these Riverclanners. His fur stands on end when he watches the cat leave with her. He shuffles his charcoal-dusted paws on the ground, as he turns around to hide under his Mama's legs. He shrinks away from any Riverclanners that come near him, hiding beneath the comfort of his Mama. "I don't know.. these cats. I don't like 'em."

When the patrol returned without Sunstar, Cottonpaw couldn't help but feel fear. It had been chaos, at first - accusations, frustrations, coughing. Wolfsong had slipped away to seek out his mate, leaving the girl alone yet again. Selfish the thought is, to be bitter in abandonment once more. Sunstar likely died to the beast he fought or the flames his body was left in - but he will breathe again. Wolfsong cannot stand the same fate, yet the tom would walk through flames to be with his lover. Is she wrong, then, to be so bothered? If she had a partner so dedicated as he, wouldn't she feel grateful for their selflessness?

The council discussion does not dislodge the thought from her mind. Disagreements hold them at a stand still and all she can think about in the interim is how to save their herbs, much more their cats. Grasskit can hardly breathe anymore, and coughing is almost infectious if not for the known fact that smoke causes it. Aside from slivers of land, they cannot hunt, they cannot tunnel, they cannot be - so maybe that is why Cottonpaw isn't too upset when Scorchstreak re-emerges from the heather tunnel with news of her wherabouts.

Fear and anger flares from the fur on her shoulders, ruffling at the sight of Smokestar in their camp. The tom is nonchalant, careless. She's nothing to him, she knows, but that fact does not deter the sickness in her gut upon seeing him so close. Pitiful... Her father must be rolling in her grave to see her so weak in front of his nemesis. He demands a warrior seek out the medicine den, directing Moonpaw to follow. She trusts the white she-cat a decent amount, but their stores are full and they need more paws. And so...

" @Addervenom , can you help us, please?" she beckons her brother, hoping that he will be her source of comfort while they gather as much as they can. She meets @Moonpaw half way, greeting the she-cat with a dip of her head, before twisting to guide her away, "We'll salvage the tansy and honey, first - and then the chamomile, maybe..." she trails off, trying to think of the most important herbs first, but eventually digging herself a hole of, they're all important...

Flames raged across Windclan, destruction falling to everything or anyone whom came in path with it. Her face is plastered without emotion as she treads along with Smokestar and her peers, countless thoughts racing through her head. How did this happened, why did this happen? None deserved this to happen to them, their family or their homes. There is protests from warriors and others as Scorchstreak admits they will be receiving help from Riverclan, a name that seems so disgusting in the mouth of Windclan. Riverclan and Windclan had horrible history, but she never allowed it for her to treat anyone different than a cat deserved to be treated. They had a family, home, lovers and more and hate was an emotion she felt so... disconnected with. In general, she felt extremely disconnected with emotions as she always put her siblings first and everyone else.

Emotions had no place in her heart and she just worked to make everyone happy.

Cries from kittens refusing to leave caught her attention and she's reminded of her siblings, they didn't want to accept their parents had died and moved on to a place where they would be happier without pain and grief. Her strong sense of smell is flooded with pure ash and fire, smoke heavily sticking to the coats of many of the felines of Windclan. Troutsnout shook her head to remove her thoughts as she moved toward the three wailing kittens, @gravekit , @sheepkit and @ferretkit who was attempting to comfort the dark kitten. A faint smile is on her lips as she lowers her head to be on eye level with the kittens and to appear less frightening, slowly holding a paw out for them to sniff her and get used to her scent. "I know you don't want to leave, it's your home— you'll come right back after the fire is gone."

Troutsnout attempts to comfort the kittens as she lays down, allowing for her back to be access level for the kits. "We just want to get everyone safe, and it's okay to not like us and to be scared. You've never seen us but we want to only save you and get everyone to safety until Windclan is safe. You have my word, okay? I won't let anyone hurt you." Her words are soft yet warm as a comforting blanket. She knew the worries of the children. They were strangers taking them from their home, somewhere they knew their whole life. It wouldn't be a surprise if Windclan told horrid stories of Riverclan and them being merciless fishmongers.

She shakes her mane out, as she doesn't force or snatch the kittens similar to Reedstrike. She wanted their trust to willingly follow her and to know she meant no harm to them, their family or their home. Troutsnout had taken care of her siblings her entire life until they became apprentices, and she was reliving that experience once more. A painful wound was being torn open unknowingly in her heart as she was being forced to remember the day they lost their parents and she became a shell of her former self. "You can ride in my mane... it's nice and warm. I don't think I can carry you all, but I'll protect you with my life until we're safe."

Snakehiss looks up as Scorchstreak enters camp, the thick and polluted air bringing tears to his green eyes. His fur bristles upon noticing cats flanking her, most of them unfamiliar but the one-eyed leader immediately makes his mind click in recognition. "RiverClan?" The moor runner scoffs in disbelief, shocked not only by how quickly things were happening but by the fact that his clanmates were up and ready to make the move across the river. "But-" He wants to open his maw and slander the name of the fish-eaters; they had nearly killed Cottonpaw in her youth. They had harbored a traitor! Juniperfrost had been killed by said traitor! WindClan had battled with them for moons!

It's easy to forget that it had all happened seasons ago, now. Despite everything, WindClan was backed up against a rock and a hard place. They had no other choice — the flames were closing in by the moment, burning brighter and stinking heavier, making it hard to breathe. Snakehiss would either burn alive, dying on the very moors on which he and his predecessors were born, or he would cross the bridge with his tail tucked between his legs.

He feels like a coward. Once again, for the second time, he and the rest of WindClan are at RiverClan's mercy.

Snakehiss turns to his vulnerable offspring now; they are more coordinated on their paws now, thank the stars. Still, he was very displeased with the idea of taking them over the river. He orders curtly, "You heard them. On your feet, and keep up." Snakehiss knows it may be more difficult for Cricketkit, but for the sake of his own survival, he'd have to push himself as hard as he could. He was nearly fully-grown and no cat would be able to carry him to safety this time.

Dark ominous pillars of smoke continue to rise, billowing and suffocating. Snuffing out the remnant of valuable clean air Addervenom's eyes burn against a blackened sky. Scorchstreak finally makes a reappearance with the audacity to bring riverclan, of all cats, in tow. His maw twists in disgust as the water dwelling clan floods their sacred camp, sullying the moors with their fish stained paws. He glowers, staring at Cottonpaw's former attacker from so many moons ago before tossing the same expression Scorchstreak's way. What on earth was she thinking? To leave Sunstar behind where he could burn away all his lives was one thing. But to lead the enemy straight into the very heart of their camp was another.

His pelt prickled, bristing in the midst of a myriad of emotions. His fangs grit, the pressure building as it takes everything within him not to claw the ebony leader's disgruntled expression off his face. This was a horrible idea, he just knew it. "You've left us indebted to them." Addervenom hissed softly against Scorchstreak's ear "Now you'd better pray to starclan whatever that devil asks for in return isn't too heavy for windclan to bear." He finishes with a lash of his tail.

Cottonpaw is quick to call him over the noise of chaos. Amber eyes find her easily within the crowd and he peels away from Scorchstreak's side to join his sister. Surely she must have felt it too, the confusion, the frustration. Wordlessly he follows the two apprentices but not without acting a visual wall for his littermate. He might not have been able to avenge her scar at this moment, but he could block her field of view. Acting as a shield of comfort as they quickly made their way towards precious herbs. Midnightkit was usually unbothered by the goings-on of the clan and the events that transpired around them. She was unaffected when conflict arose or tension stifled the air. She hardly understood any of it anyways. But today, she was scared. Her paws trembled as the smoke filtered into the nursery, her brother's weak body wheezing against her own and her watery blue eyes widened as she pressed closer into his side. "It's gonna be o-okay Grassy..." But would it? Warriors frantically scrambled all around them, her uncle dropping into the den to collect her cousins and warn their mother. Everything was happening too fast, it was dizzying. She wasn't quite sure where to turn or who to look to for safety, Nightingalecry surely couldn't carry them all. Grasskit needed to get help, she wasn't going to let him get left behind.

Frightkit somehow seemed excited by the chaos and the prospect of being taken away from the burning moors, but Midnight didn't want to go. She didn't want to leave her bugs behind, or her nest, or the starry night sky that she had grown so fond of. Would it be different wherever they were going? Suddenly her sister was lifted out of the nursery by a big tomcat she didn't recognize, and the anxiety started to crawl up her spine as she watched Frighty disappear. Her fur stood on end and she looked helplessly to Nightingalecry, her voice weak and raspy from inhaling the smoke. "Do we have to leave too, momma?" Would they ever get to come back..? She wasn't ready to say goodbye to Windclan for good.

He ignores every WindClanner crying in protest, blocks out the kitten complaints who were too young to fully rationalize the danger of the situation. He's too uncertain of his own choice to even let it linger in his thoughts, focuses instead on the task he has assigned them and approaches a kitten huddled wheezing on the ground next to a few others with a nod of his head; he's always looked intimidating to younger cats - scarred and scruffy as he was, an eye missing leaving his visage warped and uneven in a way that drew the eye to the lattice of curled flesh where his left eye once was, but he settles low to his belly in a small effort to not be so imposing as he approached. "Deep slow breathes, it will be fine."
He tilts his head, teeth carefully securing a kitten scruff between them to lift gingerly off the ground. The last time he carried a kitten like this was when he brought his own niece and nephews into RiverClan during the beginning of leafbare - they were apprentices now, how the moons did fly. It reminded him of totting about his own litter as he hovered protectively on their first outing, calling out to them to behave, to not go in the water until he was there.
A small part of him wishes to revisit that time, those feelings, the promise he had uttered of only 'once' to a patchwork coat now dead in the ground alongside him.
"Keep your head tucked low." He mutters through cream fur, taking long sturdy steps to avoid jostling his cargo too roughly.

Pinkpaw suddenly smells...cats, a lot of cats. And lately, she hasn't been able to smell anything but smoke. Her mentor appears in the heather tunnel, coat dusted with the smell of soot. Leader or not, Pinkpaw would always pay attention when Scorchstreak spoke. That's would good apprentices did— and that was what she was, wasn't it? Even if she hadn't saved Sunstar or Featherpaw or...

Our territory is on fire. They all knew that already. Our camp is in danger. A frown on her face, Pinkpaw gives a small shake of her head. Sure... the fire had gone way farther than she'd ever thought it would... But would it really get all the way here? RiverClan, her eyes go round. She didn't like RiverClan. She didn't like any other Clan! She'd alredy seen ThunderClan and ShadowClan, and even if her memories for fuzzy now, she didn't wanna see another clan ever again...

But she hears kits cry, I don't wanna go, and she's supposed to be bigger than a kit now, isn't she?

She sees Addervenom speaking to Scorchstreak, and she doesn't know what it says... but it looks ugly. Scorchstreak doesn't deserve ugly. Pinkpaw would pad toward her when he's gone. And... she makes herself happy, cause there are more important warrior things than diving into fire, and diving into battle, even if those things are really cool... " I trust you, Scorchstreak, " she tells her.

And she pads off to find something just as warrior - like to do. Seeing the queens scramble around the nursery, she runs to help. There are like... a thousand hundred kits! She locks eyes with a grey kit too big to be carried, but they were still a kit. Well... Pinkpaw does think for a sec about how a few moons ago, they coulda been peers... " Lakekit! I'll make sure you don't get lost, okay? And we can play games on the way there! " However far away RiverClan was...

The fire in the territory had grown worse and worse, and it became rapidly clear that they'd have to leave. It was a notion that Whitedawn was far from fond of, and yet it was a necessary evil. With this thought and her trust in Scorchstreak, she went along with the notion of Riverclan helping without protest. There wasn't time for it, not now at least. Trying to avoid inhaling any smoke, Whitedawn spotted her friends as they moved to the medicine den, before peering around and spotting her apprentice. "Spotpaw." She called after bounding closer to the large-eared tom. "You need to follow all the cats and evacuate, I'll be right behind you okay?" She got the words out as quick as she could, keeping her tone firm despite her nerves rising just like the heat around them. She needed to be sure he was safe while she could help the rest of the clan. Moving to the nursery quickly after, she was quick to grab one of the kits in the overly crowded nursery. Her eyes darted up to the smoke-filled sky, hoping her clanmates could survive this.

// encouraging @spotpaw to leave, before going and picking up any kits that haven't been grabbed yet.

With a rattling of burnt gorse, a ghost comes in to camp. Singed and blackened, bleary-eyed at the shoulder of his medicine cat, Sunstar is haloed by smoke and the tips of flame which now threaten their very camp. And at its epicenter– strangers. Half-strangers; for a moment, an invasion. RiverClan stands amidst their camp in this time of vulnerability, of need, and. . . is welcomed, the kittens gathered about their paws. And Sunstar does not know what to think of that. He is hardly in a place to think of anything with heated water still dripping slowly from his chin and blood, equally hot, from the phantom of his limb. Smokestar himself holds a kit in his jaws.

The clan before him is foreign. Filled with traitors, and many more questions than he knew enough to ask. Despite himself– despite the weariness, the unsteadiness, the ragged stump of where he had once been, Sunstar stands tall at the mouth of WindClan's camp, between its jagged teeth, and allows his voice to boom through his exhaustion: "Scorchstreak!"

[ ༻ ❊ ༺ ] There was so much going on, from the chaos to the smoke plumed air and warriors running to grab any kits they could, mixed with strange scents of strangers. Cats running to and fro and some coming from the left side making Lakekit flinch once they came into visible view. His first thoughts was his baby sister, Puddlekit and he had rushed to the nursery yet when he had gotten there she was gone, surely picked up by a warrior and taken which was good. Next, his friends, his head swerved hearing the protests of Sheepkit, and then seeing flashes of his friends fur as they were taken by strangers meaning... they were safe it was a relief to know his friends were safe, and Puddlekit was safe.

Another friend cross his mind, Blizzardpaw, he didn't see her white fur amongst the bustling crowd of chaos but he was sure she was okay, she had to be okay. A cough came from his chest before locking eyes with Pinkpaw, who promised to make sure he didn't get lost, of course he didn't care to play any games, still she was a familiar face and he was quick to move to the apprentice's side while taking a soft breath in. "Thank you Pinkpaw...have you seen Blizzardpaw? Is she safe?" he asked softly, and yet before an answer could be presented over his worry about his friend, Sunstar's voice boomed through the chaos and his head angled to look at the tattered leader, he was safe...Wolfsong was safe, but... he was hurt, badly hurt but...he was alive which was good, yet he called for Scorchstreak and he wondered if the lead warrior would be in trouble for her quick action to get aid from Riverclan.
