'PERCY' ;; glass-boned dreamer

a newborn, long-haired cryptic tortoiseshell with low white. she has tufted ears and a feathery tail, marked at its base by the flames of her mother's touch. she is a burly, heavy-pawed mimicry of her sire in the overwhelming darkness of most of her coat with blaze-crested, yellow eyes and a tiara-like smattering of white and orange along her brow.

  • oo. it's agonizing now, but.
    ✧

    PREVIOUS NAMES
    ⟡ . . . . .

    o1. this is nothing now.
    ✧

    CURRENT NAME & MEANING
⟡ The name for this application remains unchosen, to be picked IC with the OOC suggestion that whatever is picked is chosen as a call-back and homage to one of Orangestar's remaining lives: the life of perseverance. Likely named later, due to concerns regarding her survival at a tiny age, it is after successfully making it through the harrowing start of her life that she is named for the virtue that may best serve her, for the virtue she exemplifies in every borrowed breath she takes.
For simplicity, she'll be addressed as Percy [for Perseverance lol]

  • o2. people, just people.
    ✧

    FRIENDSHIPS
⟡ While not unfriendly, the examples of socialization that Percy does have are two very opposing sides of a very awkward spectrum. Her wet nurse is a gentle, soft and anxious she-cat with little spine, seeking to please others and avoid conflict. Oppositely, her parents are cool, calculating, and withdrawn... their focus lies in work and their lack of deep relationships to demonstrate to their children is noticeable. Percy's ability to create sincere friendships is minimal at best, uncertain how the steps towards lasting friendship start; given her affinity for sickness and the isolation that comes with recovery, the opportunities to practice are few and by the time her immune system stabilizes into apprenticeship, the gap between herself and her peers becomes daunting.

    o3. they're not enough.
    ✧

    ROMANCE & FAMILY
⟡ Testimony of affection beyond familial love is most easily witnessed in the close proximity to her older sister's family... Oddgleam, Crowsight and Owlheart are the most functional example of true romance that she has, as Slate and Orangestar are far more reserved and private about their fondness for one another and Butterflytuft remains a widow. Curiosity gnaws at her, to live vicariously through her niblings and explore what having doting parents who openly profess their love for one another is like... She learns what she wants in the little moments of cheeks pressed close, of murmured 'I love yous' and in all of her time bored and alone, Percy develops a hopeless romanticism; daydreaming of whatever cat may someday sweep her off her feet and cater to her, cherish her in all the ways her older sister is cherished and cherishes her mates. Desperation for love, real love, makes her hungry and possessive of those she considers 'hers.' Crushes are many and confessions proclaimed loudly... she is bound to face rejection and must come to terms early on that not everyone is allowed to have a girlfriend and a boyfriend and a girlboyfriend and- [assumes polyamory is the norm because of her exposure to Oddbirds].

⟡ Parents are understood to her as a concept... they are those that are meant to care for you and love you. They are who brought you to the world. However, her parents do not follow the typical roles of parents... they live to work and to love one another. They are not necessarily cold and unfeeling towards their new litter but their closeness doesn't match that of Butterflytuft. She finds herself more readily comforted by the tortoiseshell queen and seeks her out for advice first and foremost. She has great respect for her mother and for the role her father plays as her stalwart protector; they are not addressed with familial terms, formalized in name to give the respect they deserve. As a young girl she yearns for their softness, dreams of them creeping into her nest to cuddle with her and groom her fur... but as the expectation continues to be dashed, she fills the disappointment with excuses on their behalf. They are busy. They are warriors. They still love her... just differently.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS include Orangestar, Slate, Butterflytuft, Owlheart, [name], [name], [name]

o4. i vow not to lose.
    ✧

    TEACHING & MENTORING
⟡ Percy is a lazy apprentice.... she is often too absorbed in her own head to care to attend to her chores but does not complain when forced. She doesn't put a lot of effort in hunting or learning anything outside of combat; the thrill of a fight is a rush that reminds her that she still has life left to live. She struggles to be social but doesn't seem to mind how much time she spends alone... It would be in everyone's best interest not to get attached to her anyways, right?

  • o5. to anyone in my class.
    ✧

    PHYSICAL HEALTH & AILMENTS
⟡ Able-bodied and capable of physical movements. Does not struggle with vision, hearing, or speech.
⟡ Immune system is poor... this isn't the fault of her genes, just the unfortunate cruelty of worsening weather in her formative moons. She struggles from her birth to cling to good health, constantly sick and generally weak as her muscles work to keep up with her development. She will be less prone to sickness in her apprenticeship but still more likely to be ill than others her age...

    o6. aren't i such a lovely child.
    ✧

    MENTAL HEALTH & FEARS
⟡ Mentally sound other than a constant battle to stay present... reality is not a welcome friend, dismally aware of her poor health through most of her youth and fearing it an imminent mark of her untimely death. Percy spends much of her time daydreaming if not completely dissociative... It's nicer in her head, where she can pretend she is a great warrior, a fearsome leader, a beloved mate to someone with a kind smile.
⟡ Contrary to her dislike for acknowledging that she may not live a long life due to her struggling health, she is not fearful of much... Subscribes to a 'if it happens, it happens' view of life.

o7. love me i beg, love me i beg.
    ✧

    BEAUTY & GENETICS
⟡ Cutesy and fluffy, generally considered adorable at a young age... Her fur ends up often lacking care, the ick of illness never quite leaving long enough to waste energy on grooming. Doesn't mind others doing it for her, as she enjoys being cared for (and expects it, really) but can't be convinced to do it herself in most cases. 'Messy' and oily from lack of consistent bathing, she is considered grimy in her adulthood.

SUMMARY OF PSYCHE [ PERSONALITY ]
    ⟡ [ + ] EMPATHETIC , BRAVE , UNCOMPLAINING , PATIENT [ - ] UNDISCIPLINED , FORGETFUL , ESCAPIST , ADRENALINE-JUNKY

EMPATHETIC to the point of ABSORBING
DAYDREAMER to the point of DISSOCIATION
FEARLESS to the point of RECKLESSNESS
UNHURRIED to the point of AMBITIONLESS

Percy believes herself to be a ghost of potential.... She's present, but only in a superficial sense and her awkward shuffling dance with death has encouraged her into a feigned maturity regarding fear and inevitability of death. In an effort to be emotionally available to others, she has a habit of mirroring the emotions of those around her rather than forming her own... She can be morbid, tactless, though she believes herself to be empathetic in her extensions of understanding. "You don't need to be afraid," but it's reasonable to be scared. "It doesn't hurt," but hiding it makes it worse. She is fearless because she has been so approximate to StarClan's embrace that there is nothing worth fearing... certain that she is doomed to a less-than-long life, she relishes in moments that most make her feel alive; near-death is yet another day we say "until next time" to our star-ward ancestors. It is just a game of tag. Generally considered lazy, her lack of presence and attention makes her prone to forgetfulness, eager to escape the monotony of life when it doesn't suit her. She'd much rather sit with her head in the clouds, making up stories about grand adventures than going through the truth of life: it's slow moments. She lacks discipline... doesn't think to wake up early in the morning... doesn't fear scolding if she fails to do her chores... and when confronted with her lack of responsibility, she doesn't complain. Her lack of drive encourages patience... and with an active imagination, she can escape any boring situation.

[ this is just a rough idea so it's a little wonky and contradictory while I figure out how to word the exact vibe im going for ]

Rainkit is a delicate vision of youthful grace, her fur adorned in a marble mosaic of soft greys and tender ginger. Each patch seems to dance like raindrops upon a windowpane, creating a pattern both intricate and serene, draping her frame in the colours of dawn's first light. She bears a dainty mask of white across her front, like the delicate touch of frost upon a spring blossom.

Though petite and delicate in form, Rainkit's frame is imbued with a quiet strength, and she moves with a gentle confidence that defies any hint of fragility. Her coat, a cascade of long, silken strands, mirrors the first light rain of spring, shimmering with a healthy luster that complements her dainty frame perfectly.

Her eyes, light and green like the first buds of new leaves, reflect a gentle innocence and a spark of curiosity. In her presence, it's easy to imagine a young princess on the brink of great adventures, her spirit as refreshing and delightful as a spring storm's first raindrops.

    CONFIDENCE
    + x ──────── x -

    TEMPERAMENT
    + x ─────── x -

Rainkit, a figure of gentle naivety and endearing charm, emerges as a vision of delicate grace amidst the bustling nursery of her clan. With a heart as tender as morning dew and an unwavering desire to embody the ideal daughter, she navigates her early days with a fervent wish to attain perfection.

From the very start, Rainkit assumes a nurturing role with a natural ease, often found assisting with chores and tending to her nursery companions. Her modest pride shines through her every action, a reflection of her deep-seated devotion to traditional feminine virtues. She harbours dreams of a future steeped in the romance of fairy tales, where love is a grand adventure and the role of a devoted mother is her ultimate aspiration. The image of a nursery queen, serving her clan with grace and maternal care, occupies her daydreams and fills her heart with hopeful longing - this nature reflected as she diligently corrects her littermates and the other kits, guiding them with a blend of youthful authority and affectionate warmth.

Rainkit's optimism is as boundless as her innocence, her idealism painting her world in hues of fantasy and enchantment. Her infatuation with the ideals of "princesses and knights" (brave warriors who serve the clan and dedicate themselves to the righteous warrior code) makes her tragically susceptible to manipulation, her blind affection a vulnerability that leaves her open to the charms of those who might not possess her pure intentions. This idealism, though endearing, casts a shadow of potential heartbreak, as she may fall for those whose intentions are less noble than her own.

As she matures, Rainkit's journey will lead her through a profound transformation. The naivety of her youth will give way to a steely resolve, as she will evolve into a figure of strength and intelligence. Though her early dreams of traditional feminine virtues will remain, she will learn to balance them with a newfound power that defies conventional expectations. Her strength, though it will be perceived as unconventional, is not rooted in the aggression or directness typically associated with masculine traits. Instead, it will merge from a unique blend of resilience and compassion, a strength that emerges from her ability to blend femininity with formidable resolve.

In a world dominated by brave warriors and ruthless politics, Rainkit's evolution will be both striking and profound. She will emerge as a "courteous princess in a realm" where such grace is rare, her strength not found in physical prowess or battle-driven ambition but in the fortitude of her mind and the depth of her character. Her devotion to her caretaker instincts and her capacity for both empathy and unyielding resolve will mark her as a distinctive and powerful presence, a testament to the idea that true strength can indeed embrace the full spectrum of one's nature, blending the tender and the tough into a harmonious whole.

  • THE ENCHANTED PRINCESS

    Rainkit
has always harbored a deep desire to embody the idealised vision of motherhood. From a young age, she looks up to the maternal figures in her life, almost idolising them as paragons of nurturing love, grace, and strength. This adoration shapes her dreams and ambitions—she envisions her future as a picture-perfect life with a noble and devoted mate, a "knight in shining armour" who would sweep her off her paws. Together, she imagines them raising kits, her world revolving around creating the same warm, safe, and loving home she grew up in.

Having grown up in a sheltered environment, perhaps as the pampered 'princess' of her family, she remains blissfully unaware of the harsher realities that life often presents. Her naivety is a result of never having faced true hardship or danger—always being protected by others. The world she knows is full of care, admiration, and comfort, leaving her unprepared for anything less than perfect. This innocence is both endearing and precarious, as her idyllic vision of love and family may soon collide with the complexities and struggles of the real world, for which she is unready.

Her character draws inspiration from Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones. Like Sansa, she starts with grand, romanticised notions of love and chivalry, shaped by fairy tales and stories of noble knights. She dreams of being the damsel in distress, waiting for her prince to save her, never realising that in the real world, the path to happiness is rarely so simple, nor are knights always as honourable as they seem - this is something she will soon come to learn as she navigates a world that isn't as kind or predictable as she once imagined.

    THE DAMSEL IN DISTRESS

Rainkit's inherent naivety will not be something that she will grow out of, but something that she will eventually have to learn to overcome. In the future, it will leave her susceptible to the manipulations of those with darker, more cunning intentions. She is soft-hearted and eager to please after all, making her the perfect target for a cat with far more sinister designs. Perhaps a cat from the Dark Forest, cloaked in charisma and mystery, will lure her into their web with honeyed words. Their charm is intoxicating, and before long, she is unwittingly ensnared in a carefully orchestrated plot, blinded to the malice behind their friendly facade.

At first, the requests will be harmless, almost trivial—small favours like retrieving herbs from the medicine den, under the guise of helping a sick clanmate. She obliges, believing she is doing a noble service. Yet, with each task, the stakes are subtly raised. The favours grow more dangerous, more morally ambiguous. Her confusion deepens, but she dismisses her doubts, caught between her desire to trust this beguiling figure and the unsettling feeling that something is amiss. Perhaps she confides in a littermate, or a best friend, yet their warnings and concerns will fall on deaf ears.

As the cat continues to weave their influence over her, they promise her the life she has always dreamed of—a love she has always yearned for. But this glittering future comes at a steep, unseen cost. Blinded by their flattery and the hope of achieving something greater, her actions begin to harm not only herself but those around her.

By the time the veil of deception falls and the true nature of the cat's intentions is revealed, it is far too late. She finds herself in an impossible situation, caught between loyalty to her clan and the dark web of manipulation she has unwittingly become entangled in. In her desperation, she realises that she has either placed herself, or worse, an innocent clanmate, in grave danger. The weight of her choices bears down on her, leaving her helpless and vulnerable, forced to confront the consequences of her blind trust.

    THE WARRIOR MAIDEN

After a long and torturous entanglement in a web of deceit spun by a cunning manipulator, Rain will finally free herself. The curse—both literal and metaphorical—that bound her to this toxic figure will shatter, but the scars will remain. It will not be the heroics of another that saved her, nor will it be a knight in shining armour to come to her rescue. Rain, through her own strength and determination, untangles herself from the malicious lies that once held her captive. She had long been blinded by trust, her kind heart exploited for the gain of someone who saw only vulnerability where she had hoped they'd see loyalty.

Yet, even in her newfound freedom, Rain's heart will be heavy with sorrow. The betrayal will cut deep, not just because her trust was shattered, but because she had always believed in the goodness of others. Why had she been the target? What had she done to deserve such cruelty? A whirlwind of emotions will surge within her: pain, confusion, and a profound sense of disillusionment. How could someone so full of good intentions, who had only sought love and belonging, have been treated so callously?

Rain's heart, once open and warm, is now sealed off, encased in the icy walls of bitterness. She will vow never to love again, no longer able to bear the thought of trusting someone, only to be betrayed once more. The very idea of love will become a battlefield where only fools dare tread. She will condemn her past self as weak and pathetic, a version of herself that had allowed her emotions to cloud her judgment. This past self, who once longed for connection and protection, now feels like a distant stranger she is ashamed of. Her heart, once tender, now beats with the steady rhythm of duty. There will be no room for softness or sentimentality - to be her own hero, to never again wait for someone else to rescue her, will now be her guiding principle.

Yet, in her rejection of love, Rain will leave herself vulnerable to another kind of emptiness. Though she will banish the idea of ever trusting again, this void will leave space for a future where perhaps, just perhaps, the right soul could break through her defences. A knight in shining armour may not come to rescue her from danger, but perhaps one will find her when she least expects it, and show her that love, when pure and true, does not make one weak.

    THE QUEEN
In the end, she will come to a profound realisation: while she may despise the fragile, helpless creature she once was, she cannot fully distance herself from that past. It will linger in her, a shadow of vulnerability that, though painful to recall, shaped the feline she has become. Her fragility, once a source of shame, will transform into the foundation of her strength. Through this, she will learn that it is not weakness to care deeply, to feel fiercely, or to offer oneself in service to others.

Her innate devotion to nurturing, to protecting, runs as deep as her instincts for survival. It is a duality she will learn to embrace, for within her, the capacity for both tender empathy and unyielding resolve coexists. She is not just a fragile soul, nor merely a hardened warrior; she is both. The mother, the carer, the protector—these roles were always her destiny. It was never about denying one part of herself, but about harmonising them.

In the quiet strength she finds in caring for others, she will discover her true sovereignty. She was always meant to be a queen, not in the sense of ruling from a throne of power, but as a queen of the nursery—where life begins, where love flourishes, where the vulnerable are shielded. It is here, in this sacred space, that her reign will be felt most deeply. And in accepting this, she understands that her power does not come from the avoidance of fragility but from the ability to transform it into something fierce and fiercely loving.

" YOU HAVE THE EYES OF A WOLF AND A TASTE FOR BLOOD "
AFAB, SHE / HER | KIT OF SKYCLAN | 00 MOONS

LONGHAIRED DARK TORTOISESHELL SHE-CAT WITH AMBER EYES
Russetkit wears her Maine Coon descent on her face; she has a broad, gently pointed muzzle, a berry-pink nose, and large, expressive eyes. Blue will burn into glazed amber with age. She has big, clumsy paws that will take moons to grow into and stout limbs that carry her weight awkwardly. Her coat is thick and dense, wiry in texture; the fur is pitch-dark, though in certain lights she looks tinted with rust. Her tortoiseshell patches are sparse; her face goes untouched, but her shoulders and flanks wear spots of ginger. On her broad chest, a pale scrap of snow-colored fur blazes like a crest. One ear is slightly droopy from an earmite infection as a kit, mimicking Slate's — the other is pointed and tufted, true to her heritage.
⤷ gen 3 / lh tortoiseshell with low white / 50% maine coon / carrying chocolate, dilute, point

+ COURAGEOUS. RESOURCEFUL.

/ HEADSTRONG. STUBBORN. BRASH.
- DOMINEERING. CRASS.

Russetkit is loud and hungry. She uses her voice to its fullest extent, even as a newborn — she comes out squealing, and is quick to verbalize her displeasure with odd, jostling movements or the unwanted, squirming touch of a littermate. When she becomes verbal, she's demanding. She learns words quickly and will use them in inappropriate places or situations; if she learns curse words or other words that get a strong reaction, she will be sure to say them loudly, proudly, and in the presence of her taciturn mother.

Her priorities rarely shift from food, at least for the first six moons of her life, but once they do, food still takes a comfortable backseat. She will have a favorite piece of prey and she will prioritize hunting and eating that bit of fresh-kill for the rest of her life. Moreover, she will have a favorite part of the prey, whatever that ends up being. (ie, the wingtip of a sparrow, the haunch of a squirrel, etc.)

Russetkit is brave. As soon as she's able to walk, she will approach the largest cats without provocation. Her father's immense size and her parents' collective dour expressions and places in the Clan give her a sense of belonging that no cat can take away from her. She is spirited, talkative, and assertive — and just a touch socially unaware. She will insert herself into conversations and completely change the subjects to whatever mundane thing she wants to talk about.

Russetkit is beyond stubborn, a trait she inherits both from Orangestar and Slate. She makes her mind up and remains rigid in her beliefs. She wants to be the center of attention, at the head of the patrols, the first to speak in social situations, the first to catch a piece of prey while on an excursion, the first to collect a scar on her pelt after a battle.

She is a warrior first and foremost, rough-and-tumble; her teeth are in her littermate's ear, her denmates' tails. Her kithood games consist of epic battles and embellished war stories. Her aspirations, even from clumsy youth, are to become a part of her mother's council and defend her Clan with her life. She has no illusions or ambitions greater than defending her Clan with tooth and claw, although this is subject to change depending on IC events.
  • Will get earmites during kithood; this will give her Slate's floppy ear.

make no mistake, there's no denying who jasperkit's parents will be- while he's far from a spitting image of either of them, even small things down to his facial expressions will resemble his parents, like he's taken them and put his own twist on them. his white spotting is all his own, though, all twisting and curling and, when it comes to the white on his face, asymmetrical.

Before we get to the announcement, Beats and I just want to say that all of these applications were phenomenal, and we had to take extra time to decide! While we could only choose two kits in the end (and managed to, somehow) we'd really like to encourage you to place these concepts into SkyClan as unrelated peers (we also had some thoughts about which pairs might work as siblings, if you want to go from that angle)!

Alternatively, we always have the SkyClan mass adopts (which I will be updating tonight) or I'd be happy to help get you situated in SkyClan as NPC kits :D

If you want to do this and have used one of my hypokit designs for your application, please let me know so I can tweak colours if desired and transfer the design across to you on TH :3

With all that said, our successful applicants.....
@nya with TBDkit and @Jay with Lambkit!

You'll be receiving an invite to the family discord soon!

Thank you all so much for your time and hard work on these apps, they were a pleasure to read!
