"And this one's for you!"

Eveningkit's tail wavers from side to side as her paws work diligently through the little pile of feathers. This is an important thing - assigning the best gifts to her siblings -, so she needs her full concentration. She is just barely able to keep a sneeze contained as she whirls around to give Horizonkit his; Twinklekit already had hers. A shimmering white for Twinklekit, and then a light gray with a smooth gradient at the top for Horizonkit.

Why one of their food sources has decided to perch by the trees encircling camp is beyond Eveningkit. She had been watching them for the past few days, plump birds settling on the branches and watching the cats go about their day, looking as unbothered as ever. Are they not worried? So many sets of claws and teeth down here- their cooing that Eveningkit swears is born out of mockery is bound to get interrupted if they keep doing this!

She had tried to climb one of the trees, of course. Eveningkit remembers thinking she was becoming one with the clouds, but when her tiny claws decided they had enough and couldn't support her weight, she barely slid an inch of a whisker down before her legs hit the ground.

At least nobody saw... I hope.

The whole ordeal had been frustrating enough - and still is when she thinks about it -, so she ought to make the best of it. With RiverClan's uninvited visitors hanging around for so long sometimes that the sun dips beyond the horizon, they leave behind quite a mess. Soft feathers have been carried down to a reachable level, and now that Eveningkit has collected quite a few of them into the pile, she's ready to assign some of them to the other cats.

"Okay. Anyone else?"

Claypaw hadn't nessecarily been... gifted anything, by anycat. By any means, Claypaw was kind of an outsider, labeled still a former colonist, labeled even more-so by what she had done. Beepaw, Moonpaw, and Otterpaw witnessed her tear her own mother's throat out, and it was like a seeking plague upon her mind. Slowly, the soft spot she had for any cat younger then her was becoming an open wound, a hesitated reminder that the kits loved so by their parents were luckier then she would ever be.

Ears twitched as she glanced over towards Eveningkit, who was toddled about with a pile of feathers. Claypaw had noticed the bird pair that settled at the edge of camp of course. Anyone with a pair of ears likely had- but Claypaw wasn't about to climb up there and bother them. Time and time again, it was funny to watch Eveningkit huff at them, squinting gently like an evil eye would get them to fly away. But still, the kit reaped the rewards of being not so patient.

Spread at their paws was a tiny mountain of feathers, some soft with down, others the harder flight feathers- pretty, regardless. Eveningkit gifts her siblings first- a proper thing to do when you had siblings- before the little kit's vision began to search camp for new targets. Or victims, depending on how you wanted to call it. Claypaw's own vision shifted over towards the kits with perked ears. "Why don't you give them to your parents, Eveningkit?" She stated quietly, her tail shifting to lay over her paws as she looked on.

  • Her nudge is a little more forceful than intended, bunting a shoulder against Claypaw to encourage her to step forward as she redirects the silver kit's attention towards the aforementioned parents. "Don't be shy... You can have one too," she purrs, a glint of amusement catching like fish scales in lake-blue eyes. Carefully she crouches down to be closer still to Eveningkit's height, the corners of her eyes squinting where her lips pulled at a smile. "Hello, my little dove," she greets, trying to ignore the familiar tug that says her daughter looks so much like her little sister when she'd been this young. "Practicing to catch the birds?"

It is no big secret this is a great win for the striped molly, to have her kin inherit the 'uncharacteristic' yearning for feathered prey that the clan doesn't share with her- her crooked tail lashes in anticipatory excitement, admiring the little collection of down that could be greatly improved by more intentional hunting later... She would bring her darling sunset something more colorful... maybe a cardinal... or a robin. Or better yet, she could beg Hazecloud to go looking for berries with her to stain some feathers like they had in leaf-fall just before she'd realized she was pregnant.

"Lovely," she breathes, stretching out her snout to bump the kit's cheek.

𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 Orange-rippled paws carry the kit over to where his denmate is focusing her attention on her pile of feathers. He doesn't understand Eveningkit's apparent obsession with the sudden influx of birds and their feathers—he'd much rather watch fish scales glitter beneath the river's surface all day. But the way that she assigns feathers, seemingly specifically chosen, to each of her siblings, holds his attention. The feathers are weird, but they appear soft, like something one of the queens would use to line their nests. Which one would she give to him, he wonders? Twinklekit receives a twinkling white feather to match her name, and Crabkit thinks that maybe he'll get a similarly beautiful feather.

Unlike Claypaw, the kit does not hesitate to ask his gray-pointed denmate for one of the feathers. "Those are pretty! Can I have one? Can I?" His words are filled with excitement, his paws dancing against the ground. He wonders what feather the other kit will give him—he hopes it will be a cool one, maybe a pretty pale gray-white one like the one she gives to Horizonkit.

"Wow!" Twinklekit had beamed when Eveningkit handed her the pearly-white feather. It practically shimmered as it caught the light of the sun, and like all RiverClan cats, the blue-masked she-kit had a weakness for pretty objects.

While some would've taken to wearing the feather, Twinklekit gives into a more child-like curiosity and begins to chew on it. Kit saliva covers the now wet feather from quill to tip, but give it sometime in the sun to dry and it'll… mostly… recover.

Crabkit wants a feather too, Twinklekit with all good intentions slides her feather forward Crabkit. "You can share mine if you wanna. Mine… and yours." She suggests, oblivious to the fact that sharing a drool-filled feather was not appealing to most cats.

Claypaw's bright and colorful pelt is always easy to find, considering the lush green-blue backdrop of RiverClan's camp. She's not looking particularly happy today, or so Eveningkit thinks, and so whoever gets another feather is no question in her mind. Plus she doesn't need to search for anyone else either who would follow after Claypaw - her question immediately drew Lichentail out, and from the corner of her vision, Eveningkit sees Crabkit before she hears him.

"I will!" she promises Claypaw even with her back turned to her for the moment. "But you first. You were here earlier." It makes perfect sense.

It takes more brainpower from Eveningkit this time to find the perfect feathers. Both Claypaw and Crabkit look orange, and she doubts there are any birds like that... or maybe there are? The ones watching over camp are mostly always white or grey, but she's determined nevertheless. She emerges, victorious, with two rusty-looking feathers; one with a very similar gradient to Horizonkit's, except brownish in coloring instead of silver, and then one that's darker still. For Crabkit and Claypaw respectively. "Heeere you go! Enjoy!"

Bright eyes search both cats' faces as she gives them their gifts. It feels... oddly nice, to give things away. She had thought it to be silly whenever she saw a warrior give away a prized catch to another - she'd always think it's better to eat yours, because you worked hard on it, so it must taste better. Now, though, she finds great joy in trying to match the rather limited collection she has to her Clanmates.

She's quick to retrieve a darker gray feather for Lichentail, not wanting to leave her out of the fun. At least she's easy to find the right color for. "I want to!" Her response is childish in nature, high-pitched and not the least bit self-conscious about it, only after a loud purr at the nickname her mom calls her. Both Lichentail and Hazecloud always call them such nice things; she can never get enough. "But they're so high up. Fish are easier... can you teach me how to hunt birds one day, mom?"

Twinklekit's voice cuts straight across Eveningkit's focus. She could recognize her twin's voice anywhere, from miles away, clear or not. Though what she's doing is currently more interesting than what she's saying. "Don't you get the urge to sneeze?" Eveningkit points at Twinklekit's feather, the one that's imprisoned within her jaws, and already gets the phantom-feeling of it tickling her nose.

( ) "hi claypaw, eve, twi!" snow tipped paws tap gently on the thawing earth as the spotted blue body hustles over. glowing ember eyes sparkle with cheer as pebblekit greets his sisters with a flick of his tail and presses briefly against lichentail in affection. "what're you doing today?" he asks, glancing around at the multitude of feathers strewn about the ground. the arrival of crabkit sets his eyes aglow once again and he will wave his tail tip at the ruddy kit, welcoming iciclefang's kin into the circle.

"can i have a feather, eve?" he asks, tail twitching as he bends to examine the ticklish items. lichentail is offered a dark grey feather, crabkit and claypaw offered rusty ones. he wonders briefly if the girl has a pattern for which objects she lends. hunkering down on his haunches, he'll shrink himself closer to his little sister's height, looking solemnly into her eyes. "do you have one for you? or should we all find one?"

A soft grunt left Claypaw as she was shouldered forward, paws easily finding her balance but a stunned glare-turned-glance shifting towards Lichentail. Any threat on her tongue died seeing the good-natured smugness upon Lichentail's face. Sure, Claypaw's jaw might've hung open for but a moment, but it snapped shut with an audible clack as she reigned her surprise back inside. Claypaw never got surprised, but that was beyond the point.

Mismatched golden eyes shifted back towards the little kit who toddled up, insisting upon giving a gift anyways. Her gaze softened, ears lowering. "Well... if you insist." She murmured. Careful teeth took the now prized possession, winding it into the fur upon her shoulder blade, somewhere where she'd easily be able to tell if wind or water swept it away. She regarded it quietly, before turning her head back forward with a dip of her head.

"Thank you, Eveningkit." Claypaw murmured. Her ear twitched towards Pebblekit, offering a dip of her head towards that kit as well. "Hello." She cringed inwardly at the sound of her own voice. Hello. Hello? Who says just 'hello' to a kit? Her head lifted a bit, huffing softly. "That's a good point. We should find one for Eveningkit." She agreed.

𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 Twinklekit offers her feather to him, saying that they can share it. Crabkit is appreciative, because gifts should always be appreciated and met with gratefulness, but he also doesn't really want to touch the other kit's drool. He doesn't want to make her sad, either—but he doesn't want to get her potentially gross drool all over his paws from touching the feather. For once, the ginger and cream tom is struck silent, uncertain of how he should react. Thankfully, though, Eveningkit speaks up again before he has to at last. She rifles through her collection of feathers, and Crabkit's head tips curiously to the side. What kind of feather will she get for him—there's not any orange birds, are there? Finally she offers him a feather, pretty like Horizonkit's but in a more brown-ish color, and Crabkit turns to smile brightly at Twinklekit. "It's okay, see? I've got one now, too!" He doesn't plan on getting his feather covered in drool, though; he mimics Claypaw's movements, tucking the feather into the fur of his shoulder. He can't wait to show his mom!

Claypaw thanks the kit for her feather, and Crabkit echoes her words. "Thank you! I like it a lot!" The smile hasn't left his face since first receiving the feather, and his little orange and white tail sticks straight up in the air with his excitement. But his energy is tempered by Pebblekit's next words, asking whether Eveningkit wants a feather of her own. "Yeah, we can get you a feather!" He chimes in, paws dancing across the dirt with joy. What kind of feather could they get for her—a gray one? A white one? Claythorn agrees, but doesn't give her own idea, so Crabkit looks expectantly to Pebblekit instead.
