THE ELEVENTH HOUR [†] ROCKSLIDE

The Journey drags them along unrelentingly, up and across swaths of land none of them have ever laid eyes on before. Some of it is not dissimilar from the territories back home, like a river that cuts through the earth, the only salvation for anyone who wasn’t a fish - muncher being a twoleg contraption — and a flimsy one at that. Sharppaw still shudders at the uncomfortable memory of cats being swept away, their only salvation being RiverClan. How embarrassing. They could at least be content in the forest then, for a little while after that.

Today’s setting is a dip in the earth – or maybe it’s the land that’s rising all around them. The walls are made of dry, craggy earth. Foliage gives way to stone. Any chatter between them seemed to echo right back into her own ears, sound trapped in what was essentially an echo chamber. Sharppaw cannot help but feel anxious, bringing up the rear. Every pawstep feels too loud. The shuffling of feet kicks up dust and dirt, and the entire chasm seems to rumble back a low warning. Somehow, the earth seems fragile here.

Around them, she can spot small stones, brittle – sliding down the walls. Another step too loud, and there’s a crack as a chunk of rock hits the ground not far behind her. " Um— " he tries not jump out of his own skin where he hangs near the back of the group. Every little sound feels like too much noise, and then —

Rumbling. Like thunder. Sharppaw gasps as rocks — more like boulders angrily announce their presence, crackling dangerously as they part from rest of the rock they were made of. The crash of them is furious, compared the small stones that had crumbled to dust around them before. He watches every fracture with wide eyes, and torn from him, a shout: " Something– Something’s happening! Look! "

a dark smoke feline that stands at an above average height. Easily identifiable by her namesake – an unruly mat of fur, destined to be cluttered by inconsistencies between her chimera fur. Burdened with a broken tail. Though recently, she has realized it still has some use, she has wholey believed in its utter uselessness for so long that it cannot without great effort. anxious, antisocial, paranoid. Sharppaw is a creature living in constant fear. Most thoughts are irrational, but consistent in that they are borne from pessimism and generalized anxieties.
Obsessed with the perceived 'game' within ShadowClan, the rules of which she is unaware of. Striving to be someone more likeable due to this. Prone to occassional bouts of impulsive behavior, as it has proved to benefit him, so far.

FIGFEATHER

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Figfeather is not terribly far away from Sharppaw, she never was too far from the rear as she was among the slower felines of the group. The chasm unnerves her as well, the echoing of voices were disorienting and with each step she took she feared the stone walls would begin to close in around her.

She’s so focused on this irrational fear that she fails to note the crumbling of stone, the cracking of rock under paw.

’Um’ Figfeather turns and looks to see a frightened Sharpaw. Then she follows his gaze to the rock wall and her eyes widen in horror. Stones were beginning to shift, beginning to tumble right torwards them. They were no pebbles either, Figfeather might’ve described them as ’boulders if given the time to think.

Instincts kick in, @Cherrypaw who is just in front of her is given a firm redirecting push in the flank. ”This way!” She hollers, not only to Cherrypaw but anyone else who’d listen before beginning to sprint. With each step she takes she braces to fear stone collide with her back, to shatter her bones and flatten her to the ground.

━━ι═══════ He is separated temporarily from Honeyjaw, which is not so terrible— Clearheart is not uncomfortable among the less familiar faces around him, and he understands that Honeyjaw had gotten distracted by some of their new scenery. Such as it is. The ravine is endless to the eye, and he considers the tall waves of stone which seek to embrace the walking cats. The sky is but a distant sliver of an expanse above them, and he wonders if StarClan finds it difficult to watch them here.

And then it seems that the world is breaking apart in a thunderous shower of rock. Despite the danger, he glances back, searching for Honeyjaw's dark pelt and finding it a little far for comfort. "Honeyjaw!" He calls, but the sky splinters again and a heavy stone separates them, leaving Clearheart to search the wall for safety.

He spies a rounded crevice of such a width great enough for two cats to slip through side-by-side, though he does not yet enter, turning to face the cats nearest to him. He could not determine an end to the crevice, which may mean there is enough room for the cats closest to all enter. He glances at the wide boulder separating them, but steels himself. There is no time to fret over Honeyjaw's safety— he will help those he can and find him later, StarClan willing. "Quickly, through here!"

︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
Usually spotted in the back, Duskpool walked at a slow pace, one tired paw in front of the other in a hypnotizing locomotor dance, bringing them further away, but closer to their designation—wherever that was. The smokey tom blinked, tossing a glance in Sharppaw’s direction, torn ear flickering at the shuttered um.

His maw opened to inquire just what the apprentice doing until the angry rumble called out, pooling into his ears like thunder. He shivered, whipping his helm to stare at the dislodging rocks, breath leaving his lungs with a startled snarl, shoving whoever in Clearheart’s direction, adrenaline spiking in tandem with the loud roar of his heart. “Go! Get to safety!” He snarled, ignoring the overwhelming terror that made his blood run cold, wishing Mother Nature stopped trying to kill them all before they even started.

He urged enormous paws forward, molten copper zeroing in on his clanmates, but gritted his teeth, nostrils flaring. He couldn’t protect them. Not from this. He’d be flattened quicker than he could blink, bone breaking like dried flower petals. Anyone could be killed, watching the tumbling rocks, sucking in a sharp breath as he bolted, cursing StarClan.
thought speech

at first nightbird believed the sound of rumbling to be thunder echoing off the rocky faces on either side of the traveling cats, but thunder rarely came with stones pelting down on them. small pebbles gave a path for the larger stones to fall, it didn't show any signs of stopping.

almost frantically, nightbird's head swung around. how did she end up walking near none of her clanmates? she spotted a few, too far to reach. nearest to her was a chocolate tom who prompted those close through a sliver in the stone. black ears twitched as the molly thought. she could round up thunderclan and get them all into the safety of the crevice, join them once everyone was tucked comfortably away.

it was all put to a halt as she ran into someone, no, she was pushed. the force had her fumbling backwards as she landed a nasty glare on the skyclanner, the same one who tore lightstrike off that shadowclanner. black lips curled to match his snarl, her tail lashing as she stepped forward to close the distance. but, fumbling down from the sky, a smaller rock barreled straight for her. sharply veering her head, she almost missed it's trajectory, but contact was made, tearing at the skin along her jaw.

the path grew darker as rocks shadowed them furiously, the cut on her face stung, filled her nose with a familiar metallic scent. it was far too dangerous to try and round up her clanmates, they would have to figure it out, pray starclan was on their side. reluctantly, nightbird resigned to the crevice where the shadowclanner had disappeared into, tail twitching anxiously as silver eyes were locked outside.

He knows he's been...quiet, thus far. ShadowClan was hardly the loveliest of territories, and it's been good to wander again. In more pleasant circumstances, Honeyjaw knows that he would be singing and laughing with the best of them. He'll manage it every now and then, a few bright words. But then he'll remember what's waiting for them back beneath that starry sky and go quiet. For the most part, he's plodded along with Clearheart alone and appreciates the familiar company. It would bother him a few moons ago, just how quiet the other warrior was. Now it's...comforting. A necessity he can appreciate. It's all too easy for him to pretend everything is well and fine, right up until the world crashes down on top of him and nothing at all will ever be fine again.

Like this very landslide, his troubles rain down on him hard and fast. @Magpiepaw is pressed between himself and the safety towards one side, being suddenly aware of his swaying. Otherwise, his eyes have been ensnared by the swathes of stone around them. The echo of every pawstep. The slow, building rumble that crescendos to the sound of thunder. His head whips around to glance at those around them. His name hits like the rocks, Clearheart speaking it some distance off, but he catches the dark tom's pelt just seconds before they are separated entirely. "Move!" he instead shouts, shouldering Magpiepaw towards what he can only hope is a small cave in the rockface. There are others around him, cats who don't know what it's like to slink in the dark. "This way, all of you!" Honeyjaw shouts to them, though he can't do enough to pull or to guide them, hoping only that they follow.

periwinklebreeze & 14 moons & demi-boy & he/they & windclan moor runner

Periwinklebreeze is uncertain whether it is fte, starclans grace, or sheer dumb luck - but whatever the cause, when sharppaw shouts, the boy startles. Moving into action causes a rock to just barely miss him, grazing his tail but leaving him unharmed, before reality sets in. Clearheart is shouting, a sound he hears even over the ruckuss - and turning blue eyes onto the shadowclanner, he notices what the older warrior has already seen. Saftey. Blackened paws scramble for footing, but he is not alone - using his head and shoulders, he attempts to nudge and herd the smaller figures of luckypaw and mouseflight forwards, his own safety an afterthought. Surely, scorchstreak will kill him should something happen to her child - and really, he's quite fond of the two boys anyways. "Ov-ver here," he says, voice raised for the first time on this journey. He can only hope it is enough, and that the three of them will make it inside unharmed.

Soft, meadowy earth begins rough beneath their paws. The sound of the river is far behind them, and Iciclefang wistfully thinks about the fish she’d managed to catch before they’d had to move on. A tongue frisks about her maw, as though she can catch a stray scale. Here, they’ll be lucky to find prey at all. Sheer rock walls lean stiffly to either side of their procession. She can still see the sky above them, but it seems the sliver of blue grows smaller and smaller as the hours go by.

Did we make a wrong turn somewhere?” Her mutter is quiet, but it seems to echo due to the strange acoustics of this place. “What’s—” She bumps into a cat who has effectively frozen in place in front of her. Her eyes narrow with annoyance. She prepares to tell them to move out of her way when there’s a terrific, chaotic rumbling from somewhere above and beyond them.

And the sky, clear and cloudless, begins to rain stone.

Foxdung!” Her hiss is breathless; she sees Periwinklebreeze and Sharppaw, Figfeather and the SkyClan apprentice, Clearheart—but not for long. A slew of stones bigger than cats begin to chop paths in pieces. She leaps back just in time to avoid a stone the size of her head from crushing her skull in, but it’s followed—too quickly to avoid—by a stone about half that size. It smacks into her shoulder, and she gives a muffled shriek of pain that her dignity only just prevents her from screaming to the heavens.

Iciclefang looks incredulously at her shoulder, which is causing her enough pain to fear the bone is broken, and blood streams down her flank. “Ugh,” she tries to curse, but a shadow pools over her, something making a clipping sound as it aims for her. She cannot run, not in this condition—she only watches with resignation mixed with horror.

LAKEMOON — me and the devil, walking side by side.
Despite the time that has trickled by, Lakemoon has felt no ease as she travels alongside the rest of the forest cats, sapphire optics usually looking straight forward as they trekked, and keeping close to herself during the night.
She was here for one thing only, the cure.
Riverclan has successfully gotten everyone across the bridge, but when a Shadowclan apprentice walking nearby begins to slow, looking nervously at the stone-lined dip they had wandered into, Lakemoons intuition prickles.
No sooner has the silver warrior taken a step towards the youth does a piece of stone come smashing against the ground behind him.
Crack!
Hissing, Lakemoon leaps back.
As if a starting cue, the ground beneath them begins to tremble, and the apprentices warning is almost drowned.
"Shit!" The deep-toned warrior suddenly exclaims as another shatters a tail-length away, a broken piece slicing against her cheek as it flew.
Cats scream from all around her, but the cry of one in particular seizes Lakemoon with icy fear.
Through the dust clouds beginning to bloom, a familiar calico form is struck.
"Hey!" Lakemoon tries to call, paws already beginning to break into a run. Why the stars isn’t she moving?
No, Iciclefang is gazing up at something.
Lakemoon follows, and her heart drops to her quickening paws. The tabby doesn’t get another chance to call out, not as another stone cuts her only route off, pushing Lakemoon back with a painful spray of splintered rock.
"Fuck!" Her yell is thunderous, but weak compared to the discourse that surrounds her.
Blinded by earth, Lakemoon is forced to stagger back, oblivious to the younger warriors fate.

After the river crossing, things seemed...different, if only minutely so. Clans still walk amongst themselves, sure, gathering together with those they know and trust, but today those rigid boundaries seem a little more loose, even if they didn't really seem to be idly chatting with those outside their clanmates much more than usual. Maybe it's just the terrain, though; the strange confines they've found themselves in, not as much unlike the tunnels back home as the forests were, necessitated sticking close to those you might not have chosen to on your own. Somewhere along the way, he'd lost track of Scorchpaw and Scorchstreak somewhere in the crowd, and though it would soothe his worries to be beside at least one of them, Mouseflight and Periwinklebreeze weren't terrible company by any means, even if he's not looking for a conversation right now. The walls seem to throw all their words back in a way that makes him uneasy, and just listening to the other conversations going on is more than enough for him, unless anyone was really insistent on getting a response out of him. Despite his silent contemplation, Luckypaw is hardly on guard, and he doesn't notice the building rumble until a voice behind him calls out a warning, and suddenly the distant sound he'd all but tuned out into background noise is more akin to thunder, the walls seemingly raining down all around them.

Terror lances directly through his heart, and he instinctively flattens to the ground, as though that might help him when all hell is breaking loose around - crumbling boulders fly through the air, and the cats around him are a thronging mess, trying to find another and find some semblance of safety. It's too hard to concentrate with so much clamor, and yet somehow he finds himself growing all-too aware of a stone heading right his way. Less of a leap and more of a roll, he makes it just in time - where he had once crouched now bears a dent, stone-splinters flying about as the rock that was bigger than him continues on the warpath, rolling off. It's this moment when the fear moves past his heart, sinking into all his limbs and setting him ablaze as he pushes to his paws, head whipping about wildly in search of some semblance of shelter even as he tries to track the motion blurring all around him. Clearheart's call is closest, and yet disoriented as he was, Luckypaw is sure he wouldn't have made it without the sudden push from Periwinklebreeze, soft flesh meeting soft flesh where he was so afraid heavy stone would crush. Despite his drive to get away, to run and run and run until these stones from the sky couldn't reach him anymore, he still stumbles, paws not working correctly and rocky ground tripping him up in his panic.

Almost there - and then a hint of color, a scent on the breeze, and suddenly he's stopping in his tracks, eyes wide and head swinging about as if he might be the one to pierce through the clamor, to gain a spot of clarity that nobody else seemed to be able to find. "Scorchpaw?! Scorchpaw!" he hollers, desperation ringing hollow as he tries to blink past the haze of fear and the plumes of dust left in the wake of shifting stone. Where had she gone? His sister hadn't been beside him in some time, had wandered off (or had he been the one to wander off? He can't remember anymore) somewhere he hadn't seen, and now he's afraid that he might never see her again, or even that she might never see him again. Blinded with panic, he tries to turn back, tries to push his way back out into the throng like so many others searching for their loved ones, and perhaps if he had been closer to his right mind he would have done anything else but stay put, even if for a moment spent scanning the crowd; as it is, that moment he stands there, eyes wide with fear and tail lashing, he doesn't even sense the falling rock until it's already hit its mark, pain suddenly lancing up his tail, sending flashes all along his spine. A yowl of pain rips from his throat as he instinctively jerks, paws scrabbling at the stone beneath him as he painstakingly pries his battered tail from beneath the weight that had briefly pinned him.

Every movement sends a new wash of pain, and as he scrambles free, horror lights in his eyes at the strange twist that now marks his tail, half of it falling limp and skewed in a way that he would recognize as unnatural even if it didn't hurt so badly with every jostle. Still, though, he's learned his lesson - paid it in full, he thinks, tears springing to his eyes - and he doesn't linger, adrenaline already dulling the ache as he retraces his steps, agony as it is. Scorchpaw is nowhere to be found, and neither is Scorchstreak, but he's clearly not equipped to find them, especially not now; all he can do is pray to StarClan that they've found somewhere to hide, or that they've escaped back out of this horrid trap entirely. Feeling a fool for tearing away from Periwinklebreeze and Mouseflight (but what else could he have done, without Scorchpaw by his side?), he only just manages to find his way back to the entrance Clearheart had pointed out, all but diving in with little mind paid to the way the desperate movement sent another sharp stab of pain through his damaged tail. If nothing else, he had made it in safely, and that's what Scorchpaw and Scorchstreak would have wanted, right? There's no time to take note of his surroundings, not with chaos still erupting outside and cats still potentially finding their way in, so he drags himself in further still, pressing against a wall as he pants for breath that he finds himself unable to catch. Maybe - maybe they would find their way here, too, all his worrying for nothing, and maybe Scorchstreak would pull them both to her side, and maybe Scorchpaw would think him a fool for turning back after them, for getting his tail crushed like that for nothing, but at least she would still be there to think in the first place.

It's been an entire day since they've last had water, or she thinks, at least. She smacks her lips, parched as she follows the group through the steep-sided gorge. Golden eyes follow the walls up until they touch the sky, and she must squint as blinding light shines down on them. "This is great...I haven't seen a puddle or a scrap of prey since we walked into this thing," She mutters to whoever pads next to her, her tail flicking irritably. Her paws ache terribly and she just wants to take a rest. But doing so will only slow us down, She reasons with herself, deciding to hold in her complaints.

When the rumbling begins, she doesn't think much of it. It sounds like thunder, after all, why should she be worried? It isn't until she feels a soft shower of pebbles rain down on her back when she realizes they are in trouble. "Take cover!" She yowls just as a massive boulder collides with the ground just in front of her nose. A yelp escapes her as she scrambles backwards, and she looks up again to see more rocks following. Her companions scatter and she follows suit, bolting towards an overhang. She looks out briefly, only to catch sight of that damned tortoiseshell, her shoulder sliced open and bleeding. Run, you idiot! She wants to scream before realizing within the heartbeat a menacing boulder is hurtling straight for her. She doesn't seem able to move.

Stormywing could stay here, under the safety of the overhang, but she can't take her eyes off of the RiverClanner who had saved her life. Her body moves before her mind can even register it. I'll make it even.

She moves like lightning, paws kicking up dust in her wake as she bounds towards Iciclefang. With a burst of adrenaline and a roar of exertion, she leaps, shoving the girl out of the way just in time for the boulder to hit the ground behind her. Stormywing throws the tortoiseshell against one of the walls of the gorge and pins her there, one paw to her chest and the other bracing the wall nest to her head. Her head ducks as she keeps the two of them shielded from the spraying debris of pebbles and dust, her teeth gritting and eyes squeezed shut. Stars, we need to find shelter soon!

She peels open a yellow eye, which flicks about in a panic before she spots something. A hole? A cave? "In here!" She yowls, finally releasing her hold on the RiverClanner to drop back to four paws and dart for the opening. She slips inside before whirling around, panting, to make sure Iciclefang made it in, too.

Even since the river, Mosspaw had held herself with more pride. It was by the skill of her clan alone that this journey could continue and she would not forget that. All the cats around her owed Riverclan a debt, and some owed them their very lives. Despite the perils, the whole affair had left her with renewed vigor for the journey ahead. The river itself had been a reminder of home, and its trials a reminder of her own skill. She was in higher spirits than ever, even as the terrain took a change for the worse.

Her gaze followed the walls of rock upwards as they rose up around them and she could not help but feel trapped, though she would never show it. She could not escape the thought that there would be nowhere to go if something happened. Part of her wanted to ask if there was another route to take, but she resisted the temptation. She would not let her senseless fears delay their journey. Aspenhaze was relying on her.

So she padded on as the earth swallowed them all whole. Until shout raised up from the Shadowclanners, and her ear flicked as she glanced toward them.

Then the world became a cacophony of noise.

Mosspaw could hardly think through it all, and her ears flattened against her head. Every shout and crash was magnified a thousandfold by the walls all around them, and it was the worst think she had ever experienced. She desperately wanted to escape it but her fears had been suddenly realized, there was nowhere to go. For a moment she froze. Simply staring up at the rockslide as stones came raining down around her. Then she glanced about for her clanmates, seeking their guidance, but to no avail. They had already found the sense to scatter. Her gaze found only the Shadowclan apprentice who had cried out. He had seemed to know what was going on, she reasoned through her panic, and she darted to follow him wherever he went.

The trek across the bridge with the other Clans was an amazing success, save for some slight hiccups with some toppling overboard. No one had died, though, in fact they had all come out rather unscathed. Hazecloud had been worried that the amount of time Milkpaw had been stuck without air would have been cause for worry, but thankfully he had seemingly bounced back from the ordeal. RiverClan had shown they were not slowly stone scum that would overthrow the others given the chance, but were much more honorable, brave warriors than that.

A proud green gaze swept over the number of her Clanmates as they descended into a type of land she had never come across before. Crumbling earth and dry soil swept upward into stone. Anything she was about to say was cut with a snap of her maw as it echoed uncomfortably off the rocky walls. She didn't like being here very much, she quickly decided. The hard ground underpaw was beginning to hurt her paws the longer she had to walk across it, pebble-shards from the craggy ruin scraping at her pads.

Suddenly, a stone collapsed behind them all and Hazecloud rushed forward in a jolt of fear, her fluffy tail bristling to twice its size. The fur along her spine was prickled into spikes, unnerved as the single rock had begun the thundering cacophony of several more. The crashing caused a wave of dust and by the time enough has cleared for the she-cat to see more than a fox-length in front of her, she can only recognize Dovethroat beside her.

"Wh-where are the others? Mosspaw?! Lakemoon!" Hazecloud desperately shouted to be heard over the collapse, but the tumbling stone was deafening. Her chest is slammed with panic in every heartbeat, the confusion dizzying.

Clearheart seized her attention, his shout the first to reach her. She looked to Dovethroat and it's impossible to hide how truly fearful she was. "Stay with me, we're safe together." Her voice trembled, she's not even sure if he can hear her at all. She doesn't wait another moment to heed Clearheart's directive, not with Duskpool closing them further into the entrance.

He had been enjoying the scenery keeping close to Little Wolf most of the time who would point out things he had not seen before and he'd regard them with curiosity and warmth as he did so. Its short lived bliss it seems as the rocks that surround them begin to quake, his eyes widening as the havoc began to unfold and he found himself frozen in place for a heartbeat or two. He holds his breath unable to move his paws unlike the voice of Honeyjaw's shouting is enough to remove him from his brief daze, he glances around for the rest of his clanmates but they seemed further away from him than the others and he calls out when he spots his friend "Batwing! Over here!" He shouts to the chimera smoke only to nudge Little Wolf with a burly shoulder and mumbles "Let's go," His ears pressing against his ears as he tries not to panic from everything that's happening around them, he follows after Honeyjaw and Magpiepaw.

Rocks kept falling and one of them managed to catch him right on the snout where he hisses quietly in pain but ignores it despite how a drop or two of blood slither down the side of his snout, he winces briefly with a shake of his head continuing onward. He doesn't want either of his clanmates to get crushed but mainly focuses on the ones that are nearest to him currently, breathing becoming a little panicked but Hailstorm shut his eyes for a few seconds reopening them. Focus. Relax. He thinks to himself glancing to the side where the small molly would hopefully be and once more the sight of her is enough to anchor him, to calm him. Finally, he finds himself just only a foxlength away from Honeyjaw and the medicine cat apprentice and can feel somewhat relaxed but not by much considering the rocks were still falling. He hopes that no one gets crushed during this commotion and briefly looks at the cut on his nose, he winces momentarily and follows on slightly shaky paws.

"Are you okay?" His voice hushed and wavering from how panicked he had been earlier as his warm gaze focuses on @LITTLE WOLF and @batwing, it was a brief and quick question considering that they were still on the move.

Little Wolf is content to walk along with Hailstorm, green eyes scanning the landscape and shining with excitement whenever she sees something interesting. Whenever that would happen, she would nudge her companion gently with her shoulder and with one ebony paw she would point to whatever it was that had captured her attention. She could not tell if he was growing annoyed or not, if he actually enjoyed listening to her prattle on but he does not stop her nor does he react with anything other than interest so she continues on.

When the rumbling starts her ears instinctively pin against her head and her body lowers to the ground, frozen in confusion and fear. it is only when the cat next to her bumps her shoulder and murmurs in her ear that she snaps out of it. She nods and her head whirls around to look behind her, making sure that the others were safe. There was little she could do against the forces of nature though. She sticks close to Hailstorm, who follows Honeyjaw and Magpiepaw.

Her heart is beating out of her chest as she runs, visions of being crushed by a boulder dancing behind her vision. That would be something wouldn't it? Coming all this way just to meet her end to a big rock? Ha! She hears Hailstorm wince in pain next to her and her gaze swivels almost immediately. A rock had struck him on the nose, leaving a trail of red in its wake. "Are we okay? What about you? Are you alright?" she asks, worry evident in her voice and in the way she looks at the new wound on his nose. When they stop they would have to take care of that but for now.. "Keep moving" she encourages him and the others around them quietly "We have to get to safety"

Sky-scraping crags tear the levelled landscape in two, leaving the path onwards partitioned with an imposing, if not threatening grandeur. Trees, babbling brooks, the surroundings they'd all become acquainted with give way to jagged precipices, and an ambiance of unease weaving into whatever words spilt from his companions' jaws.

Given their impressive track record of stumbling into perilous predicaments, Smogmaw remains unstartled at the choice to venture into possible danger. No comfort can be found in the loamy walls, less so in the occasional stones that clattered down to their paws, dislodged by forces unseen. Yet, he greets this new environment with a lukewarm nonchalance—drowning comes as a slow and tormenting fate, whereas stray, cat-crushing boulders offered an end as sudden as it was climactic.

His induced calmness faded in mere moments.

Blood begins to congeal in his veins, as the cliffs start conversing in resonant tones and the land beneath his limbs goes all atremble. "Figures," the tom grumbles, cursing himself for his underestimations. Loosened boulders of a cat-crushing capacity (how awful it is, being right all the time) teem from above and beyond, and meet the ground head-on with lethal might.

Freeze rides roughshod over both flight and fight. Amid the geological chaos, there stands no chance for him to calculate where each rock may land. This remains the case up until such a rock strikes the terrain right behind his flank. Panic, along with a newfound aversion towards a quick end, or even dying at all, swells within him. Legs propel Smogmaw from the ground, back arched and furs prickled. When his paws touch down, he takes off into a full-blown sprint, squinted eyes scouring the ridges for any indication of protection.

His breath hitches upon glimpsing silvery strands slipping into a nook in the wall. Shelter. "Follow me if you want to live!" cries the deputy, neck wheeling to scan the surroundings for companions. A small smattering of them stand within earshot, but if they value their lives, their tails'll be kicked into gear in no time. "Paws in motion, come on!" he shouts for the final time, before he too makes a beeline for the crag itself, squeezing into the cleft with a grace born from desperation.

// shouting at: @LIGHTSTRIKE . , @milkpaw , @bobbie , @FERNPAW ! both @STORMYWING and @iciclefang are already making their way to shelter <3. expect a continuation of this later tonight @ those tagged >:3

WE HAVE YET TO CRASH ✧°.☀ —————————————————————————————
This place was miserable thus far, and Lightstrike found himself muttering idly to Stormywing as they walked, himself keeping stride with her. Complaints, idle observations, chatter, anything to stave off the boredom and awareness of his sore paws. He should have felt somewhat at home here, vaguely reminded of the ThunderClan ravine, but he felt more unsettled than anything. Too echo-y, too uncertain.

As things seemed to go for the group, things went real wrong real fast.

Stones crackled ominously somewhere above, small stones disintegrating upon the rough earth beneath them. It wasn't until the sound multiplied into a crumbling roar that he truly felt the spike of adrenaline in his heart, voices rising all around him in a panic. Pelts bushes, claws scraped against stone in hurried panic, cats scattered.

"Stormy-!" he began, but she had already rushed off, and he barely caught a glimpse of her tackling a RiverClanner out of the way of a massive falling stone when—

K-rak!

Something struck him on the head hard, and for a few harrowing seconds, his vision blacked out entirely. Pain bloomed aggressively on his brow, his face, and Lightstrike stumbled with an involuntary cry. Fucking- shit—

Half-blinded by throbbing pain and oozing blood, the commanding voice of Smogmaw wasn't questioned, his paws already moving before he'd processed the tabby's words. Go, quick, and one by one the frantic cats squeezed into the crevice in the earth.

——————————— ☀.°✧ BUT WE STILL MAY AS WELL ENJOY IT

The soft earth that they had been traveling on had grown rough and hard overtime. On each side, they were surrounded by tall walls that almost seemed to touch the sky. The change in surface was not doing her shoulder any justice, and her paw pads were achy. She wanted to suggest taking a rest, but she knew that idea wouldn't go over well. Besides...the last thing she wanted to do was rest here in this gorge. She felt claustrophobic here, and the echoes of those talking were pretty annoying. Every sound seemed to be amplified here...She had felt uneasy since they entered the area. The sooner they got out of here, the better.

The earth began to rumble underneath her paw, and seconds later, a panicked yell from another cat echoed throughout the path. Her attention shot upwards, eyes widening in horror as the walls seemed to be falling in on top of them. Huge boulders were crashing downwards, smacking the ground and exploding into smaller pieces. "Stormpaw! Run!" Her voice was sharp with panic as she shouldered her daughter violently to get her to move. Those rocks would kill anyone who was left out here, they had to find shelter, and fast! She looked for the rest of her clanmates, but they were already running to the sides of the walls and disappearing.

There were caves!

"Over there! Quick, I'm right behind you." she instructed, throwing her paw outwards to point to the closest opening. There was no time to check for any other inhabitants...if there was a badger or something else in there, they would have to deal with it later. For now, they had to get away from the falling rocks.

✿—— despite the ache nestled against her ribcage, bobbie has done her best to remain normal, on an even keel, friendly despite the sneers thrown her way. the weight of this awareness, the knowledge that for moons these - these feelings have been there, hiding under pretenses and disguises, leaves her mouth bitter and dry and her gaze averted from little wolf's small black-furred shape. she will push them down - she must push them down, making them shrink and dwindle until they vanish entirely, for the sake of herself, her children, even blazestar.

i made a promise.

she is lost in thought in the dusty chasm full of shuffling paws, eyes on her white-dipped paws as she focuses on putting one numb paw in front of the other. the shadowclan apprentice with the starsilver eyes, bringing up the rear, is forgotten until his shout splits the air - boulders crash down around them out of nowhere, as if heralded by the apprentice's call, dust filling the crevasse through which they trek. the cracks of stones cleaving from the wall like skin from flesh announce themselves as shard after shard of rock spears below, rounded boulders tumbling towards their footsore party. like falling trees, like the tree that had crushed snowpath, only so, so much worse.

cats begin to shield and push one another, splitting into fragmented groups, and bobbie looks around with green eyes blown wide with fear. more shouts split the air, the scent of blood begins to rise, and she can barely see through the clouds of dust and downpour of rocks. and so when the shadowclan deputy shouts to follow me if you want to live, the only cat near enough to hear, she heeds it and begins to run, small paws flying over the earth as she dashes towards the dark crag in the rock and narrowly avoids running right into a golden tom with blood oozing down his face.

"starclan help us all," she murmurs a prayer to herself as she slips into the crevice after him.

Sharppaw gives into panic easily, in this moment. When his legs are no longer boneless – feeling like they may collapse at any moment – she would barrel after the nearest cat, a golden tabby not too dissimilar from the ThunderClanner that bit her, only this one stunk of pine more than anything else. He spots Iciclefang and Honeyjaw running away. Where were they going?

It’s chaos all around them. Silver eyes flicker back and forth, caught between the SkyClanners he’s ended up behind and the cacophony of cats, scattering to and fro. Sharppaw strains to hear what they were attempting to do – to find out what the hell she was supposed to do. Find cover, of course, but – Where? How? A gasp, as her eyes find what looks like a gap in the stone walls. A hole? Just… a dip n the wall, even? Something isbetter than nothing, he rationalizes with a hiss. Sharppaw charges ahead, invigorated by fear, and unaware of any cats riding on his heels.

The only familiar pelt around her is pale and tawny - furred, and forwhatever reason, Sharppaw is compelled to cry out, " Chalk! This way! " Just because he hated him didn’t mean he wanted him to die. Pieces scatter around her – small enough to avoid, but that would not last long. Nearly in step with the SkyClanners from before, he hurtles himself forward, ears flat to the growl of falling rocks.

—— he / she , no pref , icked by they prns ; fine with gendered terms ( tom, molly, etc... )
—— currently 15 moons old. warrior ceremony delayed due to lackluster progress.

a dark smoke feline that stands at an above average height.
