Cats leave camp, as they always do. With cold mud beneath their paws and the fresh kill pile dwindling day by day, the warriors and apprentices that make up the workforce of ShadowClan have no space for idling - it is not beyond Promisekit to assume that such may spell life or death or some of them very soon. He is young, however, and cherished by law and virtue. Illness and hunger would no sooner take him than a blumbering predator or the fairytale monsters might. But that doesn't assuage his childish sense of duty. He cannot hunt, he cannot prowl the borders and snake prey from another maw. He can only sit, and wait, and wait, and wait -
He spies his aunt watching as Mirestar leads a trio of cats away, the glaze in her eyes hiding an imperceptible fury. To the kitten, he sees a warrior in need of being helpful, not one feeling slighted or forgotten. And so, he hatches a plan. A grand one, with excitement spurring his gangly limbs towards Swansong, unyielding in his approach.
"Ohhhh, Swansong~!" he mimics her dreamy tone, however hilting it more sing-song like with his childish gleam. He greets her by pressing his cheek into her haunch and following through, and though his gaze lingers on where the patrol had left, he has little memory of them at all anymore. Only his own wants plague his mind. "You know... Lilacfur and Mirestar named one of their kittens Mushroomkit. Mushroomkit. That must mean something, right?" She is the one who plays with dreams and nightmares as if they are star littered, shimmering with the light of their ancestors. Perhaps she knows better than he in this matter, but he presses regardless. "If Mirestar had some visions about mushrooms... maybe we can hunt some for the Clan!" While his excitement isn't rare, the spark of it in his inflection is. Promisekit feels as if he's cracked a code, that he'll be written in their lexicon of stories for finding this follow through thread and likely fixing the threat of leafbare forever more.
"What do you say?" The child presses a paw to his aunt's, dual toned eyes glimmering as he waits, excitedly, for affirmation; he doesn't think he'd react well to anything else.
