"Hmm, actually, I don't think you're doing it quite right." Cometpaw comments from his position on a low branch, having observed his clanmate attempt "The Kick". Naturally, as a new apprentice, he spent most of his days going through the basic tree-based combat moves that SkyClan excelled in. The young tom had only ever climbed as tall as the fake "tree" in his house, but he had caught onto these moves fairly quickly ( and he was proud of that fact! ).

However, Cometpaw simply saw a clanmate in need of guidance, so he figured he would try and set an example for them to follow. What if SkyClan got attacked tomorrow? They needed to all be prepared to defend it! There was nothing wrong with helping anyone correct bad form. "Stripetail says that you need to use the force of the fall to jump backward. That way, you can distance yourself from your opponent." The lilac tabby tom explains.

In order to demonstrate, Cometpaw positioned himself and leaped down from the branch, focusing on outstretching his hind leg in a kick. Once he hit the ground, the daylight apprentice utilized the momentum to his advantage and bounced backward, now a few paces away from where he had initially landed. "Like that." He meowed to the other with a wave of his tail. Maybe they'd get it next time?

White limbs dangle lackadaisically from the sturdy limb of a nearby pine. The calico leopard lounges on the outskirts of the session, citrus eyes half-lidded and scarcely paying attention. Cherryblossom had graduated already—what more was there to be taught? Especially to her, whose climbing skills were tested under the keen eye of her mother and boastworthy since kithood. She'd been invited for reasons she that escape her now. Or had she just been dragged here?

Regardless, an apprentice's comment makes her eyes flutter wider with amusement. "Wow, why don't you just become their mentor at this rate?" she comments, the candleflame of her tail tip twitching. Lemon-sharp eyes slide towards the collar staining his white throat, and one corner of her lip quirks. So that's why she wasn't familiar with him. Cherryblossom didn't make much effort to know the apprentices she hadn't grown up with, but she knew him even less. Cometpaw, she thinks they call him.

"I didn't know Stripetail taught apprentices to be know-it-alls." Snarky remarks aside, he wasn't doing bad. In fact, she might even laud him the title of doing better than most clanborn apprentices his age (although most clanborn apprentices his age were startlingly behind on their training, thanks to Blazestar and Butterflytuft). Still, his confidence was as charming as it must be aggravating—not that she could ever relate.

His brow rose at Cherryblossom’s snarky words, molten optics watching Cometpaw with a subtle frown, breathing languidly through his nose, tasting the familiar smell of pine and SkyClan. Kids. Exasperated. Duskpool rumbled, watching from afar, but keen ears soaked up every sound resonating. “It’s called bein’ helpful, kid. Ain’t got to do with being a know-it-all.” He remarked, timbre hauntingly thin, drawn in a straight line — deadpan.

She was smart. He’d hoped she knew the difference. Still. Doubtful. He had been little of a climber since the journey, dislocatin’ his shoulder had been it for him. Rarely did his paws leave the floor than to leap across fallen undergrowth. It wasn’t too much of a disappointment. The older warrior was large enough as it was. He hadn’t been An expert climber — strong, but not supple. “Yer doin’ alright, kid.” He commented, glancing at Cometpaw, wooly tail weaving to kick up fallen pine needles.
thought speech

He believed it to be rather cute that Cometpaw was trying to teach another one of their clanmates how to climb a tree when he barely had have a chance to be an apprentice yet. Maybe he even slightly wished to be the one at the center of this tom's attention right now. But he knew that would never happen. So he smirked instead. " Oh yeah that's totally impressive!, just be careful when teaching just one wrong step and your lil apprentice might slip and crack their head wiiiiiide open as they hit the ground!." he looked amused curious eyes watching after an reaction before he contunied on. " But do contunie i've always wanted to see how a cracked up head looks like!." he said with some truth but mostly because he was known to say inappropriate comments such as this one all of the time. Deathpaw was never a good company to have around as he was twisted inside and out with nothing good to say, ever. That was probably why most stayed a safe distance away from him.
