Wolfwind is ever-loyal to Howlingstar’s call. She takes her place within the crowd, and turns her eyes to the the newest to-be apprentices, Sunfreckle’s second litter – or some of them, anyways, she reminds herself with a pang – taking her place before high rock. She wonders how badly they might feel the pressure of the world around them; the weight of their sibling being unable to join them on this special day. Everyone was suffering right now, she only hopes that their mentors would pick them up through it all.
Lo and behold, her uncle is called upon to mentor one of them, and she perks up soon after, as her own name is called alongside Emberpaw. …The name brings back memories. Neither the name nor the face are so dissimilar, and Wolfwind turns her eyes to him in search of that same energy. A part of her groans, “Not again,” but it would be a lie to say she didn’t adore Sparkwing or Freckleflame. She thinks she was able to successfully worm the softness out of those two. Let’s see how this one will go…
She would not let this apprentice meet any bad fate, while she was around. Not alike to Morningpaw, or to Emberstar herself. Wolfwind vows to her best. She touches noses with her new apprentice. " I'll do my best for you, kay? " is murmured soft, before she steps back. She grins to Raccoonstripe, already stewing in the more numerous excuses she now had to bother him. She lifts a smile to Honeydapple too, while she’s at it. Training side by side is a good excuse to get to know each other better.
Wolfwind listens keenly as Howlingstar continues on. She dips her head for Mothpaw and Falconpaw’s respective losses. She knows that Burnstorm and Roeflame will train them well, though. The reports of rogues have her fighting down a sneer. The strength of their borders have not weakened, but perhaps the size of their patrols have shrunk. Wolfwind could not imagine jumping ontop of any other clan for their weakness — though she knew it wasn’t a mentality all clan cats shared. WindClan was more rogue, than anything else, in her opinion.
And finally, she finds her eyes widening in surprise, when the name rolls off Howlingstar’s tongue. " Burnstorm! " Has it really been that long already? Wolfwind remembers when he had just been little, little wolf, his personality uncertain, and paws wobbly. And now… Well, she guesses she knew how Raccoonstripe feels. Huh, she thinks with a grin.
